Anyone with the GM iOS 4 build get prompted to upgrade when they synced?

I'm still at work or I'd check myself.
No upgrade prompt for me.

Alrighty then, I'll keep my awesome version with (currently) worthless Game Center!
Wait, so what's the deal with Game Center? Why isn't it included? I was hoping to reserve my username today.

Man I wish you'd stop talking about this stuff until you have the phone.

It's free anyway, so who cares what it's rated.

Yea, I'm just surprised it's 3 stars, it looked sweet to me, expected it to be between 4 and 5.

I think it being free is part of the reason it gets low ratings. For some reason whenever a free app has a paid component to it, people get really pissed off, triply so if instead of a paid aspect there are advertisements. The store not being available in areas like mentioned makes sense for low ratings too.

Okay previous problem has been solved but now I encountered a new one.

I clicked on the update button and it started the backup, but it takes sooo long, although I back it up every day even did it a minute previous to the update. It doens't even seem to move, the green bar...

I'm getting the exact same thing. Tried cancelling, doing a normal sync (with backup), cancelling, rebooting the phone.... still taking forever :(

Anyone got any ideas??

i'm trying to update my touch 3g but i keep getting a message saying that there are purchased items on my ipod that have not been transferred to itunes yet, and if i want to proceed. i've clicked synch a few times, but it keeps giving me that message. is something not synching? how do i find out what it is?

In the file menu there should be an option that says transfer purchases from your device. Try that.

Works nice on my 3GS. Only thing I dislike is that I used to double tap the home button to get the iPod controls, now I have to double tap and then swipe to the left. I wish I could set the iPod controls as default because I don't use multitasking all that much.

Looked through the macrumors forum and those guys are insane. I wouldn't doubt that they'd kill someone if they didn't get a phone on day 1, also nonstop AT&T bashing over there. I had a pleasant experience with ordering my IP4 with AT&T Premiere.

Mine downloaded super fast but its taking forever to backup, which I dont get. I regularly backup and sync my phone. I even did a backup before I started the download.

3 and a half hours, then I get a fucking error.

Looking at Apple forums look like others with 3Gs and 2nd gen Touches are having problems. :(
On my 2nd Gen Touch, Safari crashes like every 10 minuets (couldn't submit an error log due to no crash log being created). Other than that no real issue other than two of my games not starting (The Creeps! and Hero of Sparta both crashed before the program could fully load).

Same here, really annoying. Will let it backup through the night. If not updated by tomorrow, I will wait till the iPhone 4.

Loving the multitasking and unified inbox. Digital zoom on camera is sweet. Can't wait to try this on iPhone 4 on Thurs!

Digital zooms are crap as a rule. You're just cropping the photo. You're better off taking a normal picture and cropping in an app later, that way you still have the original.

Friends don't let friends crop. ;)

I'm going to Restore and put everything back on manually and see what happens. :P

Well said.

The iPhone is becoming a very good replacement for point&click cameras but the lack of optical zoom is painful. Accessory makers have really dropped the ball.

I kept getting errors with my download. Then instead of clicking the update button again, I went to the 'downloads' section, and clicked the resume button.. it downloaded much much faster and with no errors this time. See if that works for the people with issues.

Ugh... it says my order is still processing on the AT&T Premier site. Am I fucked for the 24th/25th arrival date?

I know it's too soon, but I want it nao!!!

All this iPhone talk is making me jealous. I can't wait till Apple has it's music showing in a few months cause I really want to get a new touch based off the new iPhone.

My iPhone 4 is in America! Anchorage, Alaska baby!!!
Same here. Kind of amazing when you think about how many of these things are getting shipped to so many addresses. Yes, I'm amazed by Fed-Ex. I think it's time to sign off GAF for the day.

Maybe they'll finally give you guys a camera, eh?

LOL would be stupid at this point not to. That's not a deal breaker for me though. I just want the updated screen, os, and all that ram.

So...what does iOS4 do for a 3G besides change some of the icons? The iPod app seems a bit faster.

edit: My AT&T premiere order says "Still Processing" and was last updated on the 16th. I got that order in by 7am on the 15th and if AT&T screws me I'm done defending these jerks when everyone else i piling on.

Camera App so much faster now, takes pics with out that annoying delay.
Came here to post that, it's ready to take the next picture on the 3GS pretty much instantly, really nice. On the other hand, not liking that the iPod app seems to have a delay on opening now.

Loving the folder support, being able to choose which Calendars appear and the browser seems a lot faster. Other than that, haven't got any iOS4 application updates yet that I can use so basically just feels like a spruced up 3.1.3.

[EDIT] Oh, and I love that thanks to the location settings, it no longer repeatedly asks me about using the GPS for apps like the camera, so much better!

two new things that I’m really looking forward to seeing integrated into apps is calendar integration and local push notifications.

task manager apps suddenly become way more integrated into the OS and can deliver notifications without having to be on a network.

the real benefits of OS 4 will show up once more advanced apps get released.

if the GM is the final then 4.1 can't come soon enough. :lol

Yeah I was hoping for an update.

But by the time 4.1 comes out .. I'll have my iPhone 4 anyway and iOS 4 will be speedy. It's pretty brutal on my 3G, though either it's getting slightly better or I'm just getting used to the slowness.

I might be crazy, but navigating the iTunes store and the Notes app seem speedier with the update. Also, I'm loving Folders and the suggested names have been spot on (Music for Pandora and Shazam, News for NYT and DemocracyNow!, etc) and I'm most excited about having the ability to sync notes with my e-mail account. It's almost enough to make me forget about not being able to change wallpapers, ha.

Figured out how to sync .epub and pdf with iBook, just drag your shiiiiiit to itunes then go to book options and sync all. Some times they should put instructions on how to do this stuff.

Epubs have worked that way since the iPad launch, so I should have guessed pdfs would sync the same way since they're being treated as books. I still can't get my emailed PDF's to work. No biggie, I'll sync them later.
