X-Files Gillian Anderson had to fight for equal pay

1. This is complete bullshit.
2. Gillian is a farrrrr better actor than Duchovny.
3. Gillian is a goddess.

Amazing. She talks about how she had to fight for equal pay in the 90s, then had to do it all over again 20 years later.

Edit: mistakenly said 30 years instead of 20.

Pretty shitty way to treat her when she stuck around for two more seasons after Duchovny left the original run so Fox could still have it on the air.

That's screwed up. Both were equal part of the team in the show. She should get every bit the equal pay as he does. To have to fight for that is just pathetic. I wouldn't have blamed her one bit if she said screw it and hadn't even bothered with them.

Which would folks watch?

X-files with only Duchovny or only Anderson?

I'd say the former, by a mile. Thus the larger offer. Plus, maybe he has a larger role?

On the bright side the comments about Mulder Rights Activists vs Scully Justice Warriors in the comments of that article are pretty funny.

I might have understood unequal pay (though not 50%) if the balance was the same as pre-season 8, but she's been carrying the show ever since Duchovny left. Even in the 2nd movie I felt like she got more screen time/focus than he did.

Good for her to fight for it. He is however the bigger star/draw regardless of who's a better actor. Also the show is a no go unless both are in so from that sense fox should have stepped up, but business is also business.

Even if this were the case, to offer only half is like a huge slap in the face. And I'm not willing to give Fox the benefit of the doubt since they have proven to be huge asses to their tv show stars. I mean just look at the whole Bones fiasco where the actors are suing because they haven't gotten a cut of the series' profits which they were contractually entitled to.

He's a bigger star now? I've seen her in a lot more things recently than him.

David Duchovny definitely feels like a bigger star and more relevant to me right now, mainly due to his role in Californication. Never was a huge X-files fan but enjoyed watching it when it was on tv and from that experience it's also harder to imagine X-files without him.

I'm only like 1 and a half seasons into X-Files and even I know that is some hot bullshit.

FOX are also notorious skinflints with a history of shortchanging their stars. There's zero reason to give them the benefit of the doubt here.

Seasons 8 and 9 for what Anderson-only is like.
Yep it was dreadful without Mulder. To me his is a more interesting character and the show would have been better with him staying and her leaving. Regardless the show was a hit because of their dynamic together and pay should be equal.

Neither. The entire show is the believer/skeptic dichotomy. Plus this miniseries is a nostalgia play, so it wouldn't have been worth doing without both.

Plus she already fought for and won equal pay in the 90s. The fact that she had to have the same fight again is extra insulting.

Beyond ridiculous. In 2015. For Scully. In the X-Files.

WTF, indeed.

Yeah, you've got it. The X-Files is at it's best with both of them.

I haven't seen either of them recently. That's why I'm curious to know what each were making before the new X files

Off the top of my head, Hannibal is the last thing Anderson was in. That wasn't that long ago.

I don't follow Duchovny all that much. I couldn't name anything newer than Californication.

Duchovny has also starred in a fairly profitable show for SHO in the last decade. Other than Hannibal what has Anderson been up to with that visibility?

Give her all the monies.

That's sad that she had to fight for equal pay. If she had walked over that insulting offer, I wouldn't blame her at all.

Ah, forgot about that show. Never watched it, but I've heard good things.

Have you seen Evolution, my man?

Nope. Looking at the cast I'm thinking I should.

She is amazing in The Fall. And she looks amazing in it too. Has aged very well.

Wait til you get to the final seasons. Your tune will change. I wanted to post "she's more valuable," since I loved her portrayal of Scully, but considering we already got a taste of the series sans DD, 50/50 is the correct answer. Sucks she had to fight for it, glad she got it.
