X-Files Season 11 Trailer

That actually looked pretty.... solid. The show was always the best when the old mythology was in focus. Krycek, Black Oil, Purity Control, etc. Just give me the Fight the Future sequel the world needs, Chris.

So what is the status of the mythology? The whole alien thing was a cover up for stupid government stuff? I honestly can't remember what cigarette man said or much at all from the last new season aside from it ending on a cliffhanger.

No, the status of the mythology is the Syndicate was working with alien colonists to destroy the human race thru the Black Oil infection, but brokered a deal where their own lives would be spared in exchange for cooperation. In parallel, they were secretly working on a vaccine to immunize humans against Black Oil, but the vaccine ended up being somewhat worthless due to the fact the Black Oil can mutate into other forms. By the time you get to Season 9, there's no clear picture how anybody could ever survive alien colonization aside from the fact that Mulder and Scully (both UFO abductees) had a son, William, who seems to be predestined to have some sort of significance to the fate of humanity.

The mythology really isn't as convoluted as some make it out to be, aside from the fact that Season 10 literally has nothing to do with the main storyline and based on the Season 11 trailer will probably just end up being some sort of dream sequence in Scully's head, lol.

Dios mío

The just need to bin the whole mythology angle. Its gone so far past the point of coherence and basic plausibility by this stage its just an annoying detriment to the show.

Its a shark that's been jumped so many times by this stage its almost self-parodic. Which would be fine except its treated with po-faced seriousness, making it difficult to forgive.

Oh, Dana. You’ve come a long way. They truly captured lightning in a bottle with the chemistry between Duchovny and Anderson. Thankfully they never fell into cliche relationship tropes because who really wanted to see that? But it’s probably good she leaves her character in a good place before something truly heinous happens to her character.

Looks like two completely different people.

Gillian wants out because she will be too busy with Hannibal Season 4

As mentioned earlier in this thread, Gillian says she is done with X-Files after this season:

I love X-Files but man Gillian Anderson complains about something new like every month or so and causes commotion.

Gillian knew that X-Files was not going to wrap up this season and she signed up on anyways. IF David and Gillian did not want to do more X-Files past season 11 they could have demanded Fox to end the story at 11. They didn't even try. So if the show ends on a cliffhanger and never comes back I will place all the blame on the actors.

Again, if the actors wanted to give X-Files fans a conclusion, they could have told Fox they would only do the season if it wraps up the story in a satisfying way.

Not sure what Gillian is playing for. More money perhaps? Attention? It's the same tired story every year and usually every few months. She did the same shit during season 10.

I've followed David and Gillian pretty well in the press as a huge X-Files fan so I am definitely aware of how both of these actors are.

It would have been nice if they would just wrap up the story but Gillian placing the blame on Fox is just wrong. They could have just as easily gotten Fox to wrap up the story if they even remotely tried.
