"X Game should add a Battle Royal mode!"

How about dating sim battle royale? Not sure how you'd handle the whole 'more than one player' thing but I'm certain that the idea is gold.

Or FIFA battle royale? 100 footballers kicking eachother in the shins for hours. Seriously, this is straight money.

Can we stop doing this? It's not even about the threads it's about the notion that it's easy to do or can be done relatively quickly. A game like PUBG has a well crafted map that is designed for the battle royal game type. Everything is designed around that you can't just take say MGSV's weapons and stick them in there it'd be an unbalanced mess.

I feel like as gamers we (and I do mean almost all of us) have a very poor understanding of how hard or how easy or how much time it takes to implement something new into a game. The "stick a PUBG like battle royal mode into Wildlands (or whatever game) it's all ready to go" mentality really has to be reigned in.

PS. Don't use this as another thread to disparage PUBG or the battle royal concept because it's just a fad or whatever or the other thing.

While I don't think every game needs a "Battle Royale" mode I do feel like there are a bunch of games that would benefit from the mode. take "Horde Mode" for instance. Such a great mode from Gears that was the new hotness and then everyone wanted it in games. Some have done it, some haven't but there is nothing wrong with having that mode in multiple titles.

As for the Dev part, I rarely see people saying "Add Battle Royale Mode to GR:W, it should just be a copy paste job over the weekend". Most of it is just people seeing/playing PUBG and then finding games that have similar mechanics, concepts, etc. that seem like easier transitions. As opposed to creating an entirely new game from scratch.

Hunger Games:Battle Royale
Danganronpa:Battle Royale
The Belko Experiment:Battle Royale

Lol, you can apply the PUBG concept to any TPS. Uncharted, MGSV, Red Dead, GTAV, it would just work without much work.

happens every time The Next Big Thing pops up. last time it was Dark Souls, everything had to be Dark Souls. some ideas were crackpot, others not

i guess the caveat here is that you can more easily implement battle royale to existing engines so we'll see devs actually going through with a lot of this stuff. time will tell how it works out

Realistically how many years until BR is the next grey/brown FPS or open world collectathon? I can't see any other route with how the game industry reacts to thing like this.

I think that they'll have make major spins on the mode eventually. Like with survival MMOs, people will get bored.

Incredible things could be done.

Honestly though, a Halo Battle Royale would be insane. They could have events like a scarab attack. You can risk getting killed by other players and go for the loot or just stay back and watch as players boost off of cliffs to reach it.

Well, while it's easy to implement (in some games) it won't necessarily be fun. It still requires creative design work and a lot of adjustments to actually be enjoyable.

Nah, in the games cited previously, it would be minimal work given the team and the existing controls/maps of said games. Minimal in the sense of return of investment. Just add a shrinking playable area basically and the ability to play with 100 opponents. All the gameplay, levels and models are there already.

Battle Royale is the new Death match!!
If it is an option, doesn't affect any existing modes, sure developers should add it in any games they like.

That's what I've been saying man. A proper Halo BR would be amazing.
