X-Men: Apocalypse Trailer Debut

I don't know what everyone's problem with J Law is, she does a serviceable job with the drek she is given to work with.

As for the trailer it looks like fucking bobbins but I never had any faith after the films were handed back to that complete hack Singer.

damn Apocalypse is so underwhelming. no matter what they do in the movie, he looks too skinny and 'not cool', unlike cartoon one. I also really liked that he was basicly made out of metal, but movie variant looks like he has painted scales to me lol. they should have at least got a bulky type actor with body like Rock or Batista.

When is the last time GAF actually liked a comic book film trailer or didn't call in to question its CGI?

Overall GAF is strange in regards to movies, like you stumbled into a movie academy school forum. Be it Nolan movies or big blockbuster movies or CGI, the hyperbole in these threads is always high. "The Shawshank Redemption? Overrated and boring. No heart"

I know, GAF members are not one single entity but the hyperbole in these movie threads easily beats the gaming side (and that is not an easy task).

Trailer was okay, can't stand lawrence anymore. Trailer of DOFP left me cold too but movie was good. Oscar Issac really grew on me. And i have much respect for McVoy.

Personally i can't get enough of these (s-hero) movies. Pure Entertainment. Even the bad ones (except F4).

Looked pretty fun, outside of:

- Sansa's acting was pretty questionable
- Does Mystique ever look like Mystique anymore?

Also based on my knowledge (solely from the cartoons), does Jubilee do anything other than create fireworks at parties for little kids? She always came off as useless.

Yeah, Singer doesn't exactly give the women in his films the best material.

Well since the rise of comic book movies, yes OT has been turning as bad as Gaming. Least there's no fallout or Dark Souls.

Hyperbole is through the roof here, First Class is shit, DoFP utter white, Singer cant direct actors. Why always so strong opinions like there is no middle ground.

Don't like Apocalypse's voice. :/

Was expecting something that sounds like the first voice actor from X-Men TAS.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Mystique being the leader is just them using her most prominent scenes for the trailer. I think Scott, Jean, And Nightcrawler are going to be the heavy focus but aren't being used for marketing. I could be completely wrong though.

The trailer pushed me into re-watching First Class and Days of Future Past again. Haven't seen either one since they were released. Ended up coming away with a more positive impression of First Class. I still think the young team was underutilized, but the movie does a lot for its runtime.

Well I think it looks great. Singer has consistently delivered on the X-Men films, and there aren't many directors you can say the same for with their respective franchises.

I'd rather have a mediocre trailer and and amazing film than the other way around.

I'm sure with the Wolverine re-shoots JLaw will take the back seat to Hugh

I'm thinking Wolverine becomes one of the Horsemen. Psylocke either gets got, or switches sides. She didn't get a big display shot like the others in the trailer, so I'm thinking she is gone by that point and they don't want to spoil Wolverine.

Wolverine as a bit of an antagonist for just this movie would be nice. It still works since his conscience got transported to 2023 or whatever in DoFP, so 1973 - 2023 Logan doesn't know anything about the X-Men, well until whenever he joins in this new timeline.

Wow, you people are hard to please. GAF was super down on DoFP before it came out too, so I don't think most of you are good judges of these things. Singer Xmen is the best thing going in comic movies.
Really? They're the comic book movies that are reluctant to be comic book movies and aren't even true to their source material. In a world where Marvel and DC aren't afraid to capture the weird and crazy and color of their respective comic universes, how could anyone praise the X Men movies as being the best in the genre?

Wait I thought Wolverine wasn't in this movie?

So they say...but he has literally been in every single X-Men movie released. Yeah, First Class was just a 15 second cameo, but I have a hard time believing they won't use the character if it's possible. He sells. Dude is already in shape for the character since he has to film the last Wolverine movie.

I think it has to do with the ridiculous amount of hours J-Law has to spend to put all of that make-up on, and her concern about it not being healthy. She mention that this was her main reason why she doesn't want to do this films any more. And to be fair, considering her power, she doesn't need to be blue all the time.

How exactly does Hugh Jackman Wolverine fit in? Didn't he join up with them much later (at least in the original timeline).

And he'd look way too old.

I mean, they made his 70s Wolverine work... Jackman hasn't aged that much in that time.

They can really do whatever mumbo jumbo they want since DoFP apparently changed the timeline enough to negate the events of X3 (how convenient hehe) and cause Apocalypse to appear in the 80s. So yeah, Wolverine joined up with the X-Men in 2000 presumably, but they didn't have an entire adventure with him in the 1970s in that timeline. Maybe they're actually looking for him now?

EDIT: Plus instead of Mystique being captured by Trask, she is free and impersonating Stryker. The Stryker that takes possession of Wolverine's body is Mystique, so maybe Weapon X never happens? She might just let him go like she did with all the recruits at the beginning of DoFP. That would also erase the events of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Of course that would mean any Wolverine that shows up from that point on would have the bone claws.

Trailer did nothing for me, doesn't help that Apocalypse is a jobber of a villain and hasn't been relevant since that damn cartoon.

The Apocalypse Twin accomplished more than he did relatively.

I think people are jumping the gun on Apocalypse. I think it'll be a different take on the character much like Hardy's Bane.

I'm sure it'll be great.
