Should I watch First Class if I liked the first X-Men movie?

Watch X2 first. Then, watch X3: X-Men United and see how they fumbled it all. Don't watch Wolverine Origins.

Then watch First Class. You'll appreciate it even more.

First Class wasn't all that great, the guy who played Magneto lead the movie. X-Men was better, and so was Wolverine Origins.

Yes.

They deliever on Mags/Xavier relationship that the first three movies barely touched on.

Sadly however, outside of Mags/Xavier it isn't that good at least to me anyway.

Spider-man 3 was the biggest clusterfuck of superhero movies, ever. That's how I see it. Wolverine Origins is like listening to Vivaldi's Summer on the deck of a gentlemen's club.

well huh. I wonder if they're gonna go close to the arc the movie's named after. It's all kinds of crazy shit with Kitty Pride possesing her past-self to warn the X-Men about all the sentinel shit happening in the future and whatnot.

I suppose not since Wolverine is heavily featured in it and I guess Jackman is busy.

Darwin's only purpose in that movie so they had a black guy to point to when they hammer home the SLAVERY/Civil Rights thing, and because they gotta kill SOMEBODY on this team of misfits, why not the black guy, of course.

On the whole I liked First Class and from reading people's posts here this new movie's storyline sounds pretty cool. I hope they don't rush this one too much. Wasn't First Class' production really tight schedule-wise?

I just read the Wiki page on the comic series and it seems like a pretty weird pick as a sequel; is Kitty Pryde the main character? Not familiar with the X-Men comics so maybe the themes are easy to carry into the movie or something.

Nah that part was because Sebastian Shaw is a cheesy, pandering villain. He did the same thing when he calls the black stripper girl a queen and it cuts to her.

Agreed. Fassbender and Magneto was the only good part. He was also the only developed character. Everyone else was one-note and/or poorly defined. They should have just done Magneto Origins instead, or a true reboot rather than this awkward prequel situation.

I really don't see how that'd be feasible. The sequel almost certainly takes place before she was born if they're going by the first movie. Then again, with Havoc in the first one, I won't say anything for certain regarding continuity...

That'd be a smart way to side-step a full on reboot and still ignore the old X-men movies. More or less treating it like Star Trek.

I wonder how The Wolverine fits into all this.

This could be a novel way to tie it in actually. Build a time portal that would kill a normal person or mutant that went through it, but have Wolverine go through it at the end of his movie. That's assuming he'll even be in it...

Just read the premise for "The Wolverine". Sounds awful.

For those of you who don't know, Days of Future Past is actually a pretty simple story: Kitty Pryde travels back through time into the body of her past self to warn the X-Men that if they don't stop the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants from murdering a senator, the future gets pretty dark and mutants are constantly on the run from Sentinels.

So my guess is that the plot will concern a future version of Xavier telepathically warning his younger self that if they don't stop Magneto and his Brotherhood from murdering Stryker or some other anti-mutant figure, the U.S. government will have no choice but to unleash the Sentinels, thus fucking the future up royally.

The sub-plot will be the early days at the Xavier School, possibly including seeing really young versions of Jean and maybe Cyclops if they feel like scrubbing Origins: Wolverine from continuity.

That'd be a smart way to side-step a full on reboot and still ignore the old X-men movies. More or less treating it like Star Trek.
