X1 Exclusives: Anything else aiming for 2015?

Phil said their 2015 is packed (holidays anyway) and that they might move stuff.

Considering how long QB has been coming I think it makes sense to spread out two new IPs between that and Scalebound. Whilst it might be farther along than people thing, they might just use an extra few months of polishing that shit up to make it mega shiny and we'll get it in February/March 2016 so they can market it more effectively.

Im also very confident Phantom Dust will be this year.

Xbox Wire said it was 2014 on a post about its VGX appearance but when asked about a delay Remedy and an MS guy on twitter said it wasn't delayed from 2014 so maybe Xbox Wire made a mistake. That doesn't mean that Quantum Break wasn't anticipated as an earlier in 2015 release than the September rumour which I think is much more likely.

I honestly think Phantom Dust will be pushed into 2016, thena gain I have no idea what scale the development for it will be. I hope they put a decent budget into it, it was such a good game. If it's smaller scale than I think, it may very well get 2015 release, then agian I know jack shit about development cycles lol.

Okay thanks for the info but I don't know anyone in the program lol.

Message me you gamertag, I'll happily invite :)

Personally I think Halo will be released before November, I don't think MS would want to release it in the same month with CoD and Battlefront.

I think so too. I also think the success of Destiny in Sept., and the fact Halo 5 is expected to move systems will push them to release sooner than November. I wouldn't be surprised if it came out summer or Sept to let them sell as many copies as possible before bundling it with a special edition of the console.

we should hear about scalebound and phantom dust tomorrow from ken lobb - not sure what kind of info he'll give though. ( i also don't think phantom dust is going to be this year)

Well there's the Gears title in the works tho I'm no longer sure when they are targeting it. Halo will prolly be on the earlier side of the selling season

My understanding is that it's a ground up, from scratch remake of the original (so bigger than a remaster, but not a true sequel or reboot). They have at times talked about it and compared it to KI in terms of scope and pricing model so I expect it to be a digital (focused) title. Considering all that, I can see it hitting this year.

Halo 5 beta had mostly positive impressions, sure it's a little different than the old formula, but most people are enjoying it.

Where is this positive consensus? From what I've seen its pretty much like Halo 4's reception again

As for the lineup next year, yea it's incredibly weak overall, specifically the first eight months which are pretty much barren. I don't know what MS is thinking

I don't think ROTR should be in the PC column until there is a confirmed version.

All we know for certain is the deal for exclusivity has a duration. That duration could be until the heat death of the universe.

Not even close. Many people have said it's the best Halo since 3

Where is the negative consensus? Reaction seems generally positive to me.

I didn't say there was one, that's my point. There doesn't seem to be either really as it kind of splits people down the middle. I mentioned it in the Halo thread but I think the 5's community will have a quick death akin to Halo 4 at this point.

Personally, I really don't like what 343 is doing.

And I know, at least for me, it's Halo 5 because when I pop in the MCC and actually get in a couple of games I have an absolute blast. So it's not Halo overall that's become unappealing to me, it's just the changes in 5. The game also barely looks better than 4 but it's still a beta.

Halo 4's reception was poor and you wrote that you saw the same reception. I'm not seeing that even here at GAF (which is incredibly ruthless towards Halo 4).

No, but that might because people just don't really care as much around here. Look at, for example, how it low it scored in the most anticipated game list. It doesn't hold the same sway or attention that previous Halos have, not even close.

If you head over to the Halo thread you can find a few people that dislike it every page. Of course, the most active members like hence why they're active. But even Halo 4 had some people that absolutely loved it.

Are people really expecting MS to announce games in the next few months that will come out in 2015? Or are people more expecting already announced games to get a 2015 date?

I'm sticking by my prediction that Quantum Break will be an Early 2016 release. This Holiday Season is going to be super packed for MS with Halo 5, Forza 6, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and partnerships with Black Ops 3 (?), Assassin's Creed Victory, and probably Star Wars Battlefront. They'll be able to start out strong in 2016 with QB in February and Scalebound in March. That way, neither New IP will be lost in the shuffle of holiday releases.

Halo 5 will either release September 2015 or a week after the next CoD like the MCC did. They're never going to release a week or two before CoD ever again after what BO2 did to Halo 4's community. My guess is a week after CoD in November. That way 343 will ensure that the game launches smoothly. Forza and Tomb Raider can both be in October. If I were MS, I'd come out with a $299 bundle only for November and December with Halo 5 and the MCC, possibly as a slim model.

2016 will be an even bigger and better year for MS. They'll start the year off with two New IP's, have Phantom Dust release at some point, release Crackdown, Gears 4, Banjo, and probably Forza Horizon 3 in the second half of the year.

No way. Not even close. Some don't like the changes but most people feel it's much better than Halo 4 and/or like it.

They are thinking that you would prefer to see the games that you don't know about to be announced at (or close to) E3 -- even if some of them are coming out during the same year as the event itself.

Yep -- a beta in 720p. Pretty much can only look "barely" better than Halo 4 at that resolution now that we are used to playing console games with higher resolutions.

The most anticipated game lists have Wii U games which will more than likely not sell that great. Don't see how that's an indication of how Halo 5 will do. On top of that, the voting ended right around the time that the Halo 5 beta was available to everyone with MCC.

I would say that Halo 5 has (or will have) the same level of hype as Halo 4 or higher due to the changes on top of it being the first true Halo game for this gen. MCC has burned bridges a bit though which is why I feel that Halo 5 will pretty much be make or break for the whole series this gen.

Still my favorite game (so far) of all time. I had a great friend who I played Halo 2 with begging me to get the game. I wasn't sure about it and one day he shows up at my door and had bought me a copy for 10 dollars. I fell in love with just about everything about that game. I ended up finding copies for about 5 dollars here or there over time and I bought 6 copies for friends to play with me because they had never heard of the game and were unsure like I was. We played online and LAN. I still recommend people pick up this game even though the main component (Xbox live) will not work. If anyone does pick it up realize that Xbox live is where it shines and that it has a steep learning curve and the first couple hours before you get to build your own arsenal are a little slow. It picks up though.

One day someone needs to make a thread about Yukio Futatsugi because that guy doesn't get near the attention and praise he deserves. One of the most creative and brilliant developers.

The three big XB1 games I'm looking forward to are Ori and the Blind Forest, Scalebound and Quantum Break. I hope there's more unannounced stuff coming in 2015.

I would be shocked if Scalebound comes out before 2016, just based on it being announced not too long after TW101 came out. I'm a little concerned about Quantum Break making 2015, but that might just be because of the issues Remedy had getting Alan Wake done. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm expecting QB, Halo 5, Forza 6, Tomb Raider, and Gears Collection for fall. I could see QB being a late Summer release though.

And likely Forza 6 will get announced at E3 again but let's be honest, at this point a New Forza game isn't really a new announcement so much as it is just expected to happen. I bet we get Horizon e announced next E3 too

Or a third game in the franchise instead at least.

Are people really expecting MS to announce games in the next few months that will come out in 2015? Or are people more expecting already announced games to get a 2015 date?
Both. We could get announcements for twisted pixel, lxp, and press play for smaller games that could easily come out this year.

But I also expect dates for fable, scalebound, halo, QB between now and e3

Personally I think Halo will be released before November, I don't think MS would want to release it in the same month with CoD and Battlefront.

I'm just operating under the assumption that Microsoft will not release Halo 5 and Quantum Break during the same month because Halo 5 would smother Quantum Break. Maybe they can release Quantum Break or Halo 5 during the same month as Forza 6?

I can't see Quantum break releasing outside of the August to October window because it will get killed by the likes of Call of Duty.
