XB1 Elite Controller ($150)

so they're charging $150 for a controller and everyone's cool with it it?

why?

Have you bothered to look up anything about the controller (features, specs, materials, functionality etc etc)?

Sorry to go off-topic, but why is this last page a graveyard of banned members? Usually that many bans are in a console war thread. Just odd to see that many tombstones just on this page.

That pair of Kotaku UK threads from a few days ago was not only click bait, it was also ban-bait as it led a lot of people to overreact and say things they should've held their tongues on.

Before replying, they should've realized the article was intentional to get a reaction, and they shouldn't have fallen for it. They could've saved their accounts by posting that shit on twitter or something.

RIP

That was my first reaction, but assuming this controller is super durable, then I'm totally okay with it. Durability + rad feature set = sold.

Some people don't mind paying a premium price for a premium product. Not sure how that is tripping you up. I mean, there are headsets that are 49.99 and headsets that are $299.99, do you question those as well?

If I even have a questionable reaction to this controller, it's getting shipped back to amazon before the return policy window runs out.

I'm expecting a quality product and the standard controller is pretty great as-is, this should be even better.

I paid $170 for my Logitech mouse and a good mechanical keyboard. And neither of those were top of the line models.

Options are good, even in the console space. $150 is a little high for this, but hopefully people will get what they pay for. At $100 I'd strongly consider getting one just for PC.

If this was manufactured by a third party as a premium controller, I doubt many would bat an eyelid. But because it's first party there seems to be the feeling that it should be "affordable".

I don't question it's worth the price, but I wouldn't have paid that myself.
Amazon £75 pricing cock-up makes it just about justifiable. A shame that GameStop UK didn't honour their £45 pricing.

FUCK!

Amazon just emailed me telling me that they have now cancelled my Elite controller order I got for £75 due to a pricing error.

So disappointed.

Yeah, and missed out on some decent deals while we've waited. Getting pretty tired of Amazon recently.

Me too. Surely this goes against their price guarantee?

That rumor about the Best Buy launch week discount is still a rumor or there any truth to that?- (from reddit yesterday iirc)

$150.00 for a controller is too rich for my blood

Thought this type of post would have settled down by now. Nobody is stopping you from buying the more affordable controllers. Those of us willing to spend more for a premium device now have that option. I can't think of one thing wrong with giving people the option.

Had one on order for 100EUR, I'm expecting the local shop to cancel the order due to the price error they made.

Pretty excited to pick one up eventually though. As I said earlier, I think the analog presses on the X1 controller are awful. I can't wait to never have to do that again.

The trigger settings alone are going to be a huge advantage, right? I mean in Halo if I'm shooting and the trigger only has to travel 10% to shoot, vs. some standard controller guy, you're going to get a couple more shots off during a shootout. As they are getting to their second volley of BR rounds, I'm hitting him with my 3rd/4th.

I predict a major backlash between Elites and standards where elites are forced underground....the mechanical apartheid is truly upon us

Games are designed to eliminate advantages due to different controllers. For instance, Halo has a hard coded delay between shots. It doesn't matter how quickly you pull the trigger, you won't shoot any faster than some one on a normal controller.

There's a difference between fire rate and the initial reaction advantage that comes with a hair trigger. Will it make a huge difference? Probably not. But it'll be nice to be able to choose the distance of your trigger pull.

The paddles will make a big difference to me though. I'll be able to choose bumper jumper and map some of the face buttons like thrust to the paddles so I rarely have to take my right thumb off the thumbstick.

I can't wait to use it with my PC, and eventually play through Dark Souls 1 for the first time. Can't wait to feel the materials in my hands, that's probably what I'm looking most forward to, and the build quality.

yay glad I'm not the only one :)

I'm also looking forward to the future accessories for it.

Because I'm not so poor $150 will break me? It's something I'll be using daily, why not get the best one available?

I can spend $150 on a controller and it wouldn't break me either but hell no am I spending that much on a controller. It all comes down to value to the customer.

I am sure it will find its niche with the hardcores and professional gamers who will get back their money in prizes or whatever.

I hate that controller prices seems to never get a price drop. Ye they get discounts from the stores but not permanent price drop.

Anyway as a casual gamer I am not spending 3 times the amount for a controller.

It's not surprising. It was the reaction of everyone when they heard about the price. It's hard to convince the majority of a premium product that has a very narrow target audience. It still everyone about two weeks to let the details seep in about the device. Even now you'll get people looking at the latest video for customization and saying "Okay, I'm on board."

I'm still planning on getting this day 1, I just want to find out a release date before I decide how to preorder it. I want to have it in my hands when I first play Halo 5.

Money can be exchanged for goods and services.

Kidding aside, they're charging so much because it's basically on par with Sony's wireless gold headset. I'm definitely picking one of these up, seems great.

Just bit. Christ the missus is going to kill me :/

Totally hyped to use it though! Please be out in time for Halo 5! :)
Same day as, I think.

Has anyone given any thought as to how they'd configure the paddles for H5? I'm already used to bumper jumper, so I just need to figure out a paddle configuration for switch weapon, action/reload, thruster pack, and sprint. My index fingers do both trigger and bumper duty (unfortunately), so I figure middle and ring fingers on each hand taking over the four face buttons.

Edit: I really don't think my pinkies can play viddya games very effectively.

I don't want to post a new thread about this but figured some of you guys would know this -

Assuming cost wasn't an issue, what is the highest sound quality wireless headset I could use with Xbox One? Being able to chat isn't required, so this could be any wireless headphones that could work with Xbox One.
