XB1 Elite Controller ($150)

Why the hell would you need colored buttons/letters? This controller is for people that know wtf they're doing, if they didn't have letters at all on the buttons I'd be even happier. The colors have been exactly the same for about 15 or so years now, I think I've got this shit down to a science at this point lol.

Lots of people will be remapping, making the colors even more pointless.

The coloured buttons look nice, but I prefer the uniform buttons with the colour map inlay that some of the LE controllers have.

The Elite is for people like me who know the controller like the back of their hand, or the more advanced people who like to customize. I doubt I'd remap.

I personally wish all of the controllers had colors. At least with the limited ones, they print the little colored arrows on the body of the controller itself. I guess for myself, I don't need the colors but I think they look better and for people who come over and aren't hardcore gamers, the colors help.

Personally, I think they look better when they're not all colorful, but you do have a point. You can see it in the Clueless Gamer videos with Conan O'Brien where his helper will tell him "blue to hit him" or "you can press yellow to steal his car." Although for this particular controller, I'm not sure that'll be an issue.

Hope this bombs hard. $150 for a fucking controller is blasphemy.

I agree with you tbh. I wouldn't feel the same if it included wireless out of the box but having to spend an extra 25$ making the total 175$+ tax is just bonkers to me. If I could get wireless for 150$ I'd be willing to buy it.

What do you mean?

He must be talking about using it for PC. I guess the logic is that for $150, it should include a wireless dongle for the PC. I don't necessarily agree with that because it would mean that people buying it for their Xbox One would be paying for something they'll never use, but I think a $160 bundle that includes the dongle would be cool.

Okay, that makes sense.

Hmmm...it's 'only' $169.99 in Canada. A bit cheaper than I thought, but still too rich for me.

ah, ok. I agree with you.

Seems to be the going rate for similar controllers, if not a little cheaper.

150$= going rate of current controllers?
main Xbox controller is 64.99, ps4 Controller 59-64.99.
Hori Fight pad 50-60$

Razor Onza 59.99.
Where does 150$ for a fucking controller=going rate?

It's really fucking dumb, it's one thing if it's a arcade stick because sanwa button's, sticks and boards cost.
But a manufactured controller by Microsoft, is something people want for 150$?

Scuf controllers are extremely popular and for less customisation than the Elite controller will have, they are more expensive for a similarly fitted out controller. Scuf is the only other controller that should be compared to the Elite controller, not $60 basic controllers.

I honestly don't see what the problem is here with the pricing and that's coming from someone living in a market where this thing is $200. Obviously if you feel this is priced way too highly, it's not an accessory marketed towards you.

My only issues are having to pay more to use it wirelessly on PC and the lack of a longer warranty.

Your post is awful and you should feel awful. He said comparable controllers, the fact that you don't understand the market you're talking about speaks volumes. The fact that it's manufactured by the platform holder is going to help it gain a lot more traction if anything, people don't trust third party shit.

It's like you read a completely different post than I did. Just, huh?

If you can't afford $150 for a controller, just don't buy it. It simply offers more choices in the market. I just can't understand the rage in this thread.

Scuf is actually pretty garbage quality wise for what you pay. But the manual labor is what you're mostly overpaying for.

The elite is definitely overpriced due to the guaranteed initial sales it will get, but you'll probably be able to snag an elite for around 100 in a few months if you shop around. But then again, I'd argue the vanilla DS4/XB1 controllers are just as overpriced considering their shitty shortfallings (DS4's rubbish sticks/battery, Xb1's toy creakiness/lol bumpers).

The bumpers have been upgraded even on standard XB1 controllers. Haven't used them yet, but people seem to like them.

A far bigger issue with XB1 controllers (something that doesn't come down to personal taste) is the controller module for the analog stick.

If I don't have to worry about drift any longer, I'll never buy anything but these $150 controllers.

From what we've been hearing recently this is far from the case. It seems to be doing well with pretty much everything, even the dpad seemingly works really well. More on point though, you still can't play any games driven by mouse and keyboard only with traditional controllers, which is its main purpose.

If controller based games are all that you play and your happy with the lack of velocity based movement, you can't really go wrong with the elite controller.

Yeah, but the big difference here is the build quality, materials and extra thumbsticks / attachments. It should be expected to cost more, but I fairly sure they are charging a bit much and getting a nice profit. From a business perspective - why not?

Your comparison of regular controllers is an indication that you don't understand what the elite controller is.

I really wish this was hitting the week BEFORE Halo 5 so I didn't have to take time away from H5 on launch day to go get an Elite controller.

I want one but not at that price, it's ridiculous, seriously, two pads equal the console price... just stop.
And 5 normal controllers cost the same as a Xbox. This shit needs to stop or people are going to start playing consoles with a Kinect. wave their hands for b and stomp their foot for rb.

It is, at least as far as Amazon UK are saying anyway. Oct 23rd.

Don't know for sure if they are correct or that the same date applies to other countries.

I thought we were done with whining about the price. Guess not.

Yeah this thread is hilarious with people not understanding what this controller is and who's it's being marketed towards.

My scufs A button bumper failed for
The 3rd time in a year (scuf build quality is terrible). I can't wait to pick Up the elite controller 150$ is a fair price for what your getting.

I just wish Sony was making a similar controller now with black ops3 switching to ps4 I still need to get a new ps4 scuf for that game.

I hope they have a way to replace the analog sticks. Buttons and paddles, not so much. Them breaking from your use is your fault, but the sticks can wear and would be nice to be able to get replacements at a low costs or some sort of refresh program.

I also really want the GoW d-pad.

If it's anything like the scuff the paddles will be the first thing to wear out. Advanced warfare destroyed my scuf paddles with all the jumping.

I don't think the sticks will be a problem isn't everything made of metal so it's doesn't wear?

I also hope it bombs so it doesn't set the precedent of freaking $150 controllers, not even on PC are there pads that expansive, not even mechanical keyboards, reading how people defend the price is hilairous. Should be $100 TOPS. Don't feel bad about the billion dollar company trying to milk your wallet, seriously

Yeah, I also hate when high quality products cost more than lower quality products. Why can't they just give their shit away?

Bruh, mechanical keyboards break $100 regularly

The amount it would of cost them in R&D for this controller would be in the millions alone.

People seem to forget R&D when referring to price. It's aimed at serious gamers, and really seems to be worth the price point.

You have no idea what you are talking about just stop. This controller is not made for you if you don't understand the pricing. Do some research before you make such comments.

The elite is competing with modded pro gaming controllers. While I would like the controller to be cheaper it's a fair market price.

But there are and plenty of them but because they are so highly priced most people either don't know or they just don't care. There are mechanical keyboards and gaming mice priced well above the Elite controller.

Again, this is a controller aimed at a very niche group and for everyone else, there are cheaper options.

Oh sure, that's why the price should be proportional to the quality, and this isn't the case. $150 is too much, but feel free to defend the price and be the one to give your money away.

It is similar in nature to custom controllers such as scuf, but with OEM build quality and higher quality materials + customization and also usable both PC and Xbox One. That seems to be worth money. I hope you don't ever check to see how much a high quality steering wheel or flight setup costs.

Not sure why people are so concerned about comparing this to the Steam controller. They're not trying to be the same thing.

I'm buying both.

So you've used the new controller? Please tell us all about it. But nah go ahead and continue to whine about the price blindly. I bet you stand outside of Apple stores clutching your pearls. "Hey iPad, why you gotta be so expensive?! Amazon Fire is 50 dollars!"

The quality of a controller which has had rave previews across the board, a controller which you own surely if your talking about quality?

I feel sorry for you man.

Others have pointed out why your post is so stupid.

It just shows this controller is not for you and you should probably keep quiet and try to relax.

I hope the new Ferrari bombs. Wouldn't want to set the precedent of freaking 1.4 million dollar cars. Cars shouldn't cost more thank 25k TOPS. Don't feel bad about the billion dollar company trying to milk your wallet.

Seriously.

The salt is palpable. The controller is dope and feels great in hand. I'm buying one for sure.

High end gaming peripherals are expensive. News at 11. I could buy a $20 mouse and it would be shitty and not have enough buttons, or I could buy a Razer Naga or one of the high end Logitech 50 something button mouse with perfect tracking etc.. I could buy a $25 DS4 that literally crumbles apart for no reason and has a 20 minute battery life, or I could get an Xbox Elite controller that has the extra buttons and functionality. Baddabing baddaboom

Yeah, it's a nice controller but not one of those reviews is praising the price. Also, it's a normal xbone pad with higher quality materials, and extra customization with those new handles, that alone is not worth $90 dollars more, it's overpriced any way you put it. It's made for a market who they know they can milk.

And the other guy, please stop comparing this with steering wheels lol.

Hey, I'm not the one who thinks those improvements that probably cost very cheap to MS is worth an extra $90, just using common sense. About your hilarious last comment, not even the iPad is this overpriced.

Haha, comparing the value of a normal car and a ferrari and a normal gamepad vs an elite controller, just stop dude. It's really sad reading how people justify wanting to pay more, marketing really does it's work.
