Ryse is actually a lot of fun.

Probably one of the most underrated games I've played.


The combat is simple but satisfying and on high difficulty can be quite a challenge. The story also seems decent so far (3/4 of the way through) and the presentation is amazing. The fact that this game is about 3 and half years old is insane. It looks so damn good.

However it is questionable if the studio is responsible for that since even some older 360 games run better on Xbox One without any work from the original creators as far as we know.

Yes if they struggle on 360 to meet their targeted frame rate or have a resolution that adjusts based on GPU load. Ryse is a 900p 30fps game, playing it on Scorpio is not going to transform it, you'll just get a locked 30fps as a benefit at the same 900p res.

Yeah surprised by how fun it is. Very silly and would prefer a more fluid less QTE system but it is satisfying. For free? Good deal!

The multiplayer of Ryse is completely broken, right? You earn no gold but you may only buy gold for real money now apparently... Thus there is no real progression. So sad :(

I've not done any Multiplayer but did some of the solo arenas and I earnt gold from that

Based on the Spring Sale video MS/MajorNelson released it looks like the Ryse Season Pass will be on sale during this sale from April 11-17. I may have to pick that up!

I played through Layers of Fear (it was GwG in some earlier month) and I wanted to share my feelings on it:

First let's get this out of the way: It's not much of a game, but more of a walking simulator with some interactive elements. It also overstays it's welcome, and the framerate is terrible (Unity), so I'm not recommending it to most, but I really thought they did a good job with the "insanity effects" in this game. I liken it to walking through a well-done spook house where the emphasis is on madness and creepiness instead of axe murderers. Nice sound design too. I played it at night with the lights low and enjoyed my time with it despite it's massive flaws.

Personally I've been enjoying "walking simulators" and "light" games as of late; I don't have 100 hours to pour into games completing them these days. I've put off playing Layers though because I'm not interested in paying full price for the DLC.

I'll probably never buy the DLC and don't feel like I'm missing anything. By the time the game ended I had my fill of it.

I enjoyed ryse quite abit and i also enjoyed the order alot, in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with a short, sweet, cinematic experience. To be fair i borrowed ryse from a buddy and only paid ten bucks for the order so i may feel differently if i had dropped a full 60 on either

True if I paid for Ryse I'm not sure I'd be so high on it, but for free it's hard to complain and it definitely beat my expectations (to be honest that wouldn't have been hard :p). Either way was a fun couple of hours and definitely worth trying out if you have Gold

Completely forgot what the back half of April games were, was a nice surprise when I went to get them :) Also liked Ryse a good amount which I wasn't expecting at all, went in with really low expectations and ended up enjoying my time with it.

Another good month for me, will complete both star wars and wanted Lara Croft ToO for a while. Giana Sisters looks okay too

I'm pretty happy with that! I have most of them (not Lara) in some way or another but just means I can put my disc for Force Unleashed II away and the Lego ones I have on GameCube so that isn't exactly easy to play at the moment - but I did want to give it a go co-op with my wife (her birthday month too! Thanks MS!), I've played them before but she hasn't!

Lara is cool, I always meant to play the original since it went GWG, still haven't, one day maybe lol. >_<

Giana Sisters I got on Wii U because I was a huge fan of the original game on C64, but I didn't end up liking the new one at all. Ah well.

GWG is awesome, keep it up MS!

The original LEGO is still fun but some of the newer ones are a bit more polished. Hoping we get LEGO Star Wars 3 as a backwards compatible title the week of May the 4th

Survival mode in Ryse is a hilariously intense experience. I'm pretty happy right now. I'm finding matches in less than a minute. I don't think I was even remotely close to that when the game first came out.

I enjoyed it quite a bit when it first came out. It's a damn good challenge.

It doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our plan.
Is there any way to enable automatic updates, but disable the automatic install of games purchased from the store?

I don't want all the games I add to be installed automatically- because I'm adding 4 a month! But I don't want my updates to stop...
