If you turn your 360 on it will preload your game library automatically. But when you return to your dashboard from playing a game then you have to wait a long time again.

This update is supposed to have major anti piracy enhancement so it sounds like come Monday plenty of modded systems are going to get banned.

Also, Kinect won't work without an updated dashboard so modded systems will not be able to play Kinect, at least until the pirates figure out a work around.

hopefully they dont update the gametag filter as well. had to change my name 3 times now...

as long as the dashboard is faster ill be happy. might even use the headset more if the voices dont sound like garbled shit anymore.

It is, however, as people have said much easier to understand what people are saying. Not sure who originally found out about the whistling, but it's pretty obvious that the range of frequencies that the codec picks up is much larger.

I wonder if the quality of the current headsets (both speaker & mic) will hold back how good the voice codec can sound.

If so then people with headsets/headphones should see an even better improvement.

It always has worked perfectly for me, although connecting to Live can we a problem sometimes. But then I usually have an update or connection problems.

Can you tell on xbox live or xbox.com how long you or someone has had your/their gamertag for / date when you first got it or accessed xbox live with it? If so does it count the date of the previous gamertag if you changed it.

Despite the updates taking forever and wanting to punch a baby every time I heard the fucking tutorial (I have never had such spouts of anger induced from little chimey music before in my life), it's a beta and that's how they work. So yeah, if that bothered you you should definitely not opt in anymore.

Update is pretty short if you're on a fast connection. On a slow connection it takes a while. I think it clocks in around 150MB's total spread out over 3 downloads iirc.

Yup, this update updates the avatars. Everything got updated for the new proportions.

Just stream mkv using Windows Media Center (from a Windows 7 PC), the Xbox should play MKV fine through WMC.

With Windows Media Player Streaming it only plays what formats the 360 supports, but with Windows Media Center, I'm pretty sure it plays everything that your PC can play. I'll have to setup a few things again because I recently formatted, but before then I was playing MKVs, AVIs, WMVs, MP4s on WMC on my 360.

It's basically Kinect, an updated overall look, slight increase in speed, espn, a much better netflix, and a new audio codec. They also change proportions of avatars. You know...just a little update.
