Probably, all thumbnails on the GUI are downloaded from the Internet. That's a pretty long time... I guess, they were connecting to XBL with that cold boot?
With the current Xbbox 360 Dashboard, it takes already quite some time to boot, but only, if you want to connect instantly to XBL. If you want to play offline, it's a lot faster. Wonder, if that's the case on the Xbox One, too.
Isn't that longer than some PCs with Windows 8?
I mean a sizable chunk of that was signing into Live with a slowed down connection at 64kbps.. but still.
Seems a bit excessive for a next gen console.
Also can we at least in thread titles keep it classy?![]()
That's already pretty darn slow, no?25-30ish seconds
You added 10 seconds to the title.

Seems realistic from a cold-boot standpoint, these modern consoles are basically PCs, though at least you can shove an SSD in a PC or the PS4
Even my TiVo unit takes longer than this to boot, since Virgin Media in their infinite wisdom decided to patch the standby behaviour, and I don't use it enough to justify leaving it on.
I'm pretty sure that at twice the length of the PS4... you could theoretically boot the PS3, PS4, and Xbox 360 all sequentially before the Xbox One starts.
I saw 19 minutes for COD:Ghosts
Didn't they advertise it would cold boot before your TV was on?
Were they testing it based on black and white CRT's from the 40s?
What is this...2003?
Or or or or or I'd rather not leave my console at the mercy of any potential thunderstorms and short circuits that could damage it while in standby. If you're powering off every time you finish it you're missing on the silent updating and voice activation which is like half the appeal of these consoles to begin with.
If you're not willing to make a small concession and leave it in low power mode while you don't use it you should probably rethink your purchase.

Thank god the XB1 has a suspend/resume feature at launch.

Edit: at least this is the case for the 360
My win8 PC boots in like a 5-10 secsIsn't that longer than some PCs with Windows 8?
That's long - good thing the game resuming works then.

Booting back into the system takes just 18 seconds and you do have the ability - in theory at least - to resume into gameplay. This process takes just 2.5 seconds but in the here and now it is rather unreliable - we've had game crashes and numerous restarts. It's a bit of a shame because the ability to pause gameplay, turn the console off and get back into the action exactly where you left it with just a 20-second wait sounds like a rather good feature. In fairness, though, the feature is labeled as a "beta", so we would hope that it will improve over time.

.
Hmm?
Hmm?
It's certainly a long boot up, especially now after their marketing spokespersons have been tooting the "fast bootup" horn for so long. The Xbone takes more than double the time the PS4 takes to start up cold.
Ps4 1 OS = 20-30 seconds.
XB1 3 OSs = 1 minute
am I doing it right gaf?
so you physically disconnect every piece of equipment from the wall outlet after use??Or or or or or I'd rather not leave my console at the mercy of any potential thunderstorms and short circuits that could damage it while in standby.
I dont see the appeal of this at all, voice commands are stupid and looks flawed on the Xbone.
Keep that stuff unpowered at all times when not playing and save energy.
