This is so retarded. With all these stupid copyright restrictions HDTV will never take off. The MPAA are shooting themselves in the foot. What a bunch of paranoid idiots. If someone wants to copy your HD movie they're going to do it in a much easier way than streaming the data to their Xbox 360 and then manually recording the component output.
These absurd DRM protection schemes are just advocating piracy in my opinion. If you buy an HDTV and you download an HD movie legally from CinemaNow or MovieLink you shouldn't be punished and forced to watch the movie in 480p because of DRM.

Why the hell didn't they just make a Xbox memory card port or USB adapter so that you could plug in an old 8MB Xbox memory card? The whole backwards compatibility issue is a big disaster on Xbox 360. Microsoft really bungled this one area. Now it is one of my top priorities to get a mod chip for Xbox 360 so that I can move my Xbox games saves and movies onto the Xbox 360 hard drive.
As far as crippling the multimedia functionality of the Xbox 360 I guess MS is concerned about walking a fine line and not making Xbox 360 too attractive as a non-gaming device. They could destroy their entire business model and get too many non-gamers purchasing the console if they give it too much of the functionality of Windows Media Center.

I'm not really surprised you can't copy your iPod onto the X360 HD since you can't even do that on a computer without some tweaking.

Sony are in the same boat but they have HDMI ports, which means BRD will be played back at the HD resolutions if you use HDMI
I refuse to believe that they left out HDMI because of cost. How much extra would it cost to add HDMI? £20? £30? In Britain you can buy an upscaling DVD player with HDMI for £80. £80!!
