Time goes by quick. What were you doing 1 year ago? Investing some human energy to the X360 no doubt. I mostly played Call of Duty 2 on launch week on veteran difficulty.

For a first year, X360 sure had a pretty awesome library. Actually maybe even the best first year line up.
 
It's been a good year. Oblivion, Dead Rising, and Gears of War. Nicely supplemented by Fight Night 3, GRAW, Ridge Racer 6, Saint's Row, DOA4 and Superman Returns.

By far, the best console I have ever owned... although I would expect that to happen as technology improves and all that stuff. I missed launch by a couple weeks as I was waiting for it to be shipped from WalMart. I didn't even plan on getting one at launch, but someone on GAF found a WalMart "glitch" and I jumped on it. Even then, I was going to eBay it, but it was too tempting. I opened the box and never looked back.

edit: I forgot to mention I also won 5 games from IGN. That was a great suprise! Condemed was my favorite launch game.

Wallguy was way longer than a year ago. Other than that, pretty good summary of the last 12 months. :D

That was what I bought with the console :). I think I picked the best games available. I enjoyed rentals of Gun and Kameo as well.

Of all the launch games I liked Condemned the best. That game has no rival on the console yet for shock value.
 
:D camping in front of Bestbuy for 18 1/2 hours with 4 of my friends in the Frickin snow... that was awesome...

my launch still works perfectly also..

oooh cant wait to see what they have instore for us on the 360's BDAY.... gunna be awesome..
 
I was in Arizona visiting with my absolutely fuckballs crazy family for Thanksgiving last year at this time. Never doing that again.

I wasn't able to get a system until January even though I preordered the thing 6 months before it was released. Oustide of having my system break (thank god for extended waranties) I've really been loving my 360 so far. Dead Rising, Chromehounds, Oblivion, Viva Pinata, Gears of War, Just Cause, GRAW, PDZ multiplayer, COD2, etc. .....lots of time spent this year on the machine.
 
Tomorrow is also a great XBL Anniversary day. Small Arms and all the VOD and TV shows... I wonder if there will be any suprises.

Same here. I just took a break from playing CoD3 now and it's just not as good. :(

Is it bad? I still have the game in its shrinkwrap but have not opened it because a game called Gears of War made every other game irrelevant.
 
I still think Geometry Wars was the best launch game. And that's not a put down to the system, it's just the truth. Best $5 spent on a game ever.


Oh and what were the XBLA launch games? I just remember there being a lot of them and thinking that there would be several Live Arcade games released every month. That unfortunately didn't pan out.

Easily. Me and DC were chatting about this yesterday and joked about making a thread. I think you've handled it better than either of us could :)

It's still not quite a year in Japan. Blue Dragon comes out before the first year is up. Gears of War and Viva Pinata don't though.

No, it's not bad. It's just not the same intense, you-better-move-slowly-and-carefully-or-you're-dead kind of experience. I'm only on mission 3 out of 12 anyway, so who knows? But so far, yeah, a step backwards. If CoD2 was a 9.0, this is more like an 8.0
 
After all the doom, gloom, and ridicule for rushing to launch first, the system had a heck of a first year. Keep it comin MS!
 
1 year ago I abandoned PC gaming and moved to the dark side. Haven't been happier really. I've played more great games this year than probably the past 2-3 years combined.

2007 is going to be a very interesting year.
 
It's also been 3 months since the last BC update (Aug 28). I hope another update is part of the birthday celebration...

**** the naysayers, Kameo was an enjoyable game. PD:0 had great multilayer and Condemned is still the scariest game I ever played.

In the eight months Ive had mine (Australian launch) its had the most games on it that Ive bought for a first year system. Cod2, Prey, Table Tennis, PGR3, Gears of War - all of which were well worth the money. XBLA titles like Geometry Wars and Marble Blast Ultra have diverted my attention enough from the real games too theyre that addictive.

Looking forward to Vegas, Viva Pinata and maybe CoD3 in the last few weeks of the year, and possibly catching up on Oblivion, Dead Rising and GRAAAAAAAAW as well.

Best console since Dreamcast in my opinion.
 
****ing Microsoft :lol my second 360 just kicked the bucket. The guy at MS says I'm out of warranty + it would cost 130 something to repair it.

I'm debating whether to do the repair or just pick up a new one...or just say **** it all and just play my PS3 :lol

I'm just pretty damn pissed at having to go through this shit again with Microsoft.

Despite popular opinion that Sony Playstation hardware = crap, I've never had a problem with any of my Playstations (2 PS1, 2 PS2, 1 PS2 slim), least never of this magnitude in the past.

My PS3 is chugging along nicely as well, despite all the stuff I've thrown at it during the past few days.

An impressive feat.
 
Crappy hardware aside, I did have fun with quite a few titles (NBA 2k7, GRAW, Gears would be my top 3), with a bit of Fight Night, Dead Rising on the side.

Gears is perhaps the best game I've played this year on any platform, NBA 2k7 was almost played religiously weekly at my place as well.

NBA Live 06 > OK, better than 07!
Perfect Dark Zero > GOOD GRAPHICS, boring gameplay
FIFA 06: Road to FIFA World Cup > GOOD
Quake 4 > OK, would have been good with better framerate
NHL 2K6 > OK
Amped 3 > OK+
Project Gotham Racing 3 > GREAT - looks better than motorstorm imho
Madden NFL 06 > GREAT GRAPHICS, ok gameplay
Condemned: Criminal Origins > GOOD, although often repetitive
Need for Speed Most Wanted > OK, choppy framerate
Tony Hawk's American Wasteland > didn't play
Gun > meh, bland gameplay and graphics
Call of Duty 2 > GREAT, still play this puppy
NBA 2K6 > GOOD
Kameo: Elements of Power > GOOD, short but enjoyable

No AAA, but better than average list. X360 is my all-time favorite console. 2nd year line-up may be the best of all time.
 
All that Xbox 1.5 talk seems really stupid now, doesn't it?

I didn't get mine at launch (although I took part in the Pepsi Xbox every hour thing), and I wasn't that enthusiastic about it when I bought it (I had an HDTV for 3 years, and wanted to finally have something on it that is in HD), but once I played RR6, and later Dead Rising, I was hooked. And GOW is just the icing on the cake.

I'm really impressed by the design of the console, and I love the scaler chip on the thing. The only things that I can complain about are the loud noise and how hot it can get (and the discs once ejected).

Downloading demos is brilliant, and I love the pad. Here's to more great software.

It was worth it for the story. I was laughing so hard I almost cried. Please go back - Christmas maybe?
 
I picked up my 360 in April, the first one I could find after Oblivion came out. That, some Live Arcade and now Gears of War have made me very, very happy.
 
I didn't make launch, and I've felt very uneven about it the first year, but the last couple months it has been pretty amazing. It's just packed with good software right now and I'm really enjoying it like I hoped I would. Effectively I don't really care about other hardware launches right now which must mean it's doing things right.
 
Since the topic came up, how much does it cost to get an extended warranty for the 360? I want to get one, but I don't want it to break down in three months and pay to repair it.
Edit: Never mind. Found out it's $60.
 
Got mine on April 2nd, bought Oblivion, PGR3, and CoD2. Been having a blast since, with such titles as Dead Rising, Dead or Alive 4, Ghost Recon, and Gears of War.

Plan to soon pick up Viva Pinata and Rainbow Six Vegas.

Also just a reminder tonight Small Arms is released on XBLA! And on Thanksgiving the Lost Planet Multiplayer Demo is released! I am so happy to be an Xbox 360 owner right now. Best console I have ever owned.
 
****ing great console. Now I better get my small arms soon or else. MS better damn well update the video marketplace with the HD movies and TV in Canada as well as the US or somebody gonna get a hurt real bad.
