Xbox 360 is 1 year old.

Xbox 360 has been the best console i have ever owned also. I got mine around 8 months ago at the Australian launch, and i currently have over 20 games for it. With games like Gears of War, Project Gotham 3, Oblivion, GR:AW, Fight Night Round 3 and so on... i can't help but think it was one of my best investments ever.

Can't wait till all my friends/family get one and i can play against them on LIVE. :)

Just need to release the HD-DVD add-on here in OZ and i'm going to be set.

I still think Geometry Wars was the best launch game. And that's not a put down to the system, it's just the truth. Best $5 spent on a game ever.

I wholeheartedly agree. This game, along with Live, was the killer app for me.

I was lucky and stumbled upon the system being on sale at sears.com on Thanksgiving Day 2005. I thought my eyes were deceiving me, but there they were, still available, deals having gone through. Bought it with RR6 was while I was entertained, I wasn't thoroughly impressed. My brother decided to use the system for his sports games, though, while I waited patiently until Dead Rising, my 2006 GOTY, arrived. Now I'm looking forward to both Lost Planet and RE5.

Is resident evil 5 for this year?

About lost planet, where do you x360 gamers rank this game in anticipation? I hope it will be one of the better capcom efforts and not another chaos legion, devil may cry 2, devil kings, dino crisis 3. Because you never know with capcom. For every dead rising there is a mega man battle network lol.

pre-ordered it by getting a pre-order kit and picked one up without any hassle on december 2nd (EU launch).
I got PGR3 and CoD2 with the console which I both really like. Later in the year I got GR:AW (good), Saints Row (good), Dead Rising (not entirely my bag) Gears of War (good, but not 9,5/10 good) and I'll be getting Viva Pinata and Rainbow Six: Vegas in the near future.

Happy Bday 360!

XBox 360 has changed my expectations of what a console should offer. Live Arcade has become the perfect snack food for my game cravings, light, fast, and easy. It really makes the wait between titles so much easier to take. This combined with a steady stream of solid titles have made it fun year to own the system. For those who don't own one and decide to get the PS3 or Wii instead, you should still raise your glasses because had MS not entered into the business I don't think we would be seeing all the cool extra features on its rivals platforms.

yep, best console i've oned hands down. best first year i've experience with a console(i'm an action and sports gamer). great times.

I've been really happy with my 360, from the online interface to the games. I've ended up with a few stinkers, but the overall quailty of what I've picked up is really impressive.

Games I've kept:

PGR3, DOA4, Oblivion, RR6, Dead Rising, Table Tennis, Gears of War, GRAW, NHL 07

When I sit down for a 360 session, I still debate as to what to play. GoW obviously dominates these days, but I'll always come back to these games.

Worst f*cking launch of my life. I gambled big and lost bigger. Showed up at Target at 5am only to get the last core. I flat out rejected that POS and went to TRU. I was the first one there, but something told my dumbass to go camp out in front of Sears instead. Sears had jack shit. Went back to TRU only to find a line 15 people long including two grandmothers talking about Xbox Live.

TRU had like 5 f*cking systems. I even called in that day to go system hunting. I remember feeling like shit the whole day. If I only stayed at TRU. I ended up getting a system FOUR WEEKS LATER at Target. But I had to go every morning at 8am for four weeks straight.

Now that's f***ing hardcore.

I already played the superiour PC version of COD2 two weeks prior to launch, and PGR3 wasn't nearly as awesome as PGR2. Plus, I wasn't too fond of Oblivion, so all in all the first half year was a tad disappointing softwarewise. The last few months though it's getting better and better, and while I'm still enjoying Gears there's already a bunch of games I want to buy next. Meanwhile next year is looking to be one of the best years in gaming ever, so I'm very happy with my 360.

I'm uk but my 360 was made a while before I brought it on launch day, still works 100% too.

pgr3 was my launch game alongside geowars and mutant storm reloaded, I was late for university that day.

*edit* Sold pgr3 in feb or march after beating it dry, played many games since then but doa4 is the only game I have kept from day 1 :)

Jack and Shit.

Target = nada
Best Buy= zip
TRU = zilch
Sears = **** you buddy, 150+ waiting list (WTF?)
KB Toys = WTF is an Xbox360?
Walmart = haha, would you like a Symphonic TV?
EB/Gamestop = shoulda pre-ordered, BEEEEYOTCH
Radio Shack = pay me 1K and wait until Spring
Costco = wait until Radio Shack gets theirs
Meijers = Wrangler jeans on sale

This is all in Illinois/Northern Indiana. If there's a 360 to be found retail as of this post, its in a town with one horse and no sheriff.

This is what I was doing a year ago, hunting for one.

Now, two 360s, MCE streaming,PGR3, GRAW, upscaled Halo2, TD:U, and GoW later, I'm extremely happy with the console.

This time last year? Trying to make sense of the delay that was the Singapore 360 launch (March 06, no less). But a 360, 11 games*, 3 wireless controllers, a wireless headset, a 32-inch LCD tv and several Live Marketplace purchases was more than enough to make up for that torturous void.

*PGR4, DOA4, GRAW, Kameo, PDZ CE, Fifa 06 WC, Oblivion, Saints Row, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Fifa 07, Gears Of War CE

I still remember camping in a walmart for 13 hours and getting the last premium like it was last week <3

let's see...

kameo, PGR3, PDZ, and... omgwtf was i thinking, NBA Live '06. :lol oh, and many, many, many hours of geometry wars (surprised no GAFfer on my friends list has beat my score to this day.) i also remember thinking that if i increased my gamerscore i could use those points to spend on XBL. bwhahaha, what a newb.

edit: can't forget GW.

I kicked off my obsession last night when I purchased my first microsoft console. Here I sit staring at the clock dying to play GOW and VP all holiday weekend!

Lucky you.

Congrats!

I bought mine in July. When I saw footage of Dead Rising. I wasn't even going to get one this year. Then I watched a Dead Rising review and it was the damn PSP launch all over again (Except that I haven't touched my PSP in months, but I get a lot of use out of my 360). A few days later I went out and spent all my iMac Savings on an HDTV and an Xbox 360.

There have been some bumps in the road but the first year has been extremely solid overall.

Here is looking forward to the next year which seems even better. :D

I got mine a week after launch because I had a friend that is a manager at Target reserve me one. Picked up Madden 2006, Condemned, Tiger Woods 2006, NBA 2k6 and Call of Duty 2. Now I am up to 30 games purchased, 10 Arcade games purchased, Live Vision, extra controller, wireless headset, and numerous faceplates with no regrets on the money spent. I really wish Microsoft would put out something similar to Singstar as my girlfriend loves karaoke but I guess I will have to wait until I can purchase a PS3 for it. 2007 should be a even better year for the system.

The Best Next-Gen system EVA!

Events Coming up for this lovely Console

-Lost Planet (killing Bugs for a living)
-Halo 3 Beta killing Live
-Forza 2 (Your Ride to the Battlefield)
-BioShock (Bio Weapons)
-Mass Effect (light Mass Bomb)
-Half Life 2 + Extras (When Crab Heads Attack)
-Assassins Creed (When a normal Kill is not enough)
-GTA4 ( The Bombshell)
-Halo 3 ( Ultra Bomb)

I've had mine since launch and have truly enjoyed this system. Its been one hell of a year with some pretty good content. I literally have never been satified during the holiday season with a gaming console. I'm literally have 5 awesome games I'm rotating through on one console with nothing else out there that's reallyl drawing away my gaming attention in a significant way. After all it's hiccups and initial supply issues the XBox360 seems to be doing well and has a great perseption in the gamig marketplace. I know of several friends who will be making the plunge this year, purely based on the games or content they sampled while at a friends house. And when I think of the stuff coming Q1 2007, I get goose bumps. I am really enjoying this console.

best system evah! Its Live alone is worth owning he system for...where else can you watch a movie and talk to a friend while they play a game? Just a great system....GOW blows every other game away as well. Simply amazing. And viva pinata is cool too.

Happy Bday! :)

360 is an amazing system with fantastic games and online system. Upcoming games are unbeatable.

Gears of War hype finally made me cave in :) Just bought a XB360 Pro bundled with Burnout Revenge? <- Any good?. Also threw in Fight Night 3 and Gears of War for $513 shipped (super saver shipping).

Eh none of the games suit my taste with the exception of Culdcept, various Jrpgs and bioware stuff. The only game I consider worth buying was Oblivion but since its on the PC forget it. Yeah once Culdcept is released in the US, I'll have no choice but to get Xbox360 ASAP.

Not having Halo at launch was the best thing that could possibly have happened to the Xbox 360. For the whole first year the spotlight has been on some other great franchises like PGR, TES or the Tom Clancy games (GRAW in particular) which would've otherwise been crushed by Halo.

Oh come on.

Yeah its been a really fun ride with the 360 so far. Condemned,PGR3,Kameo,Gears,the XLA stuff, they delivered *the stuff* so to speak. Still not my favorite console ever, that belongs to the DreamCast.:) I own around 80 games for that sweet system.

But I have good faith that the 360 will at the least keep me happy the next 4-5 years. If it can surpass what the DC did in its 2 year span then Microsoft will get my vote.

For a first year, X360 sure had a pretty awesome library. Actually maybe even the best first year line up.

Not even close to best first year line up.

PS2's first year kicks the everloving crap out of the 360's. I'm a fan of the 360 too, but seriously. Consider the great games the PS2 had for it's 2001 lineup:

Grand Theft Auto 3
Metal Gear Solid 2
Grand Truismo 3
Final Fantasy 10
Ico
Jak and Daxter
Twisted Metal Black
Silent Hill 2
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance
Klonoa 2
Red Faction
Devil May Cry

There might be a few other titles that I missed, and you might question Klonoa 2 or Baldur's Gate... But hell, take half of those games out and I still think it would be better than X-Box 360's first year lineup.

Oh please! Everyone likes GoW! They just have to! It's impossible for me to imagine otherwise! :D

I'm really loving my X360. I bought mine in july together with Oblivion and GRAW. Except for the first couple of weeks, I didn't really start to actively play on it since 1.5 months ago, but I'm currently having a blast with it. Especially now that the phenomenal GoW has been released.

So far I've got:
- Call of Duty 2 - really smooth FPS with a great atmosphere and entertaining gameplay
- GRAW - great gameplay and controls, very solid mission design and good looking graphics to boot
- Condemned - wonderful atmosphere, solid storyline and a fantastic use of sound
- Oblivion - huge and beautiful looking world, lots of freedom and possibilities, solid gameplay mechanics
- Gears of War - best X360 game to date, or of this new generation in general
- Prey - decent storyline and gameplay, fairly entertaining overall

Also have, but still have to start playing:
- Table Tennis
- LOTR: BFMEII
- Kameo

Still plan on buying (of what's currently released):
- Splinter Cell: DA
- Rainbow Six: Vegas
- Tomb Raider: Legend
- Hitman: Blood Money
- Enchanted Arms
- PGR3
- Viva Pinata
- Call of Duty 3

Odrion, you sure that's actually the first year lineup of the PS2? As I kinda remember the first year lineup was rather crap, and the system only started to pick up in it's second year with games like MGS2, FFX, ICO, DMC, J&D and GT3.

My only problem with COD3 now is that the QA testing on it is atrocious. You get hung up on things, the game randomly crashes, and many times the AI will do very strange things. I'm going to wait for a patch before playing it again. Otherwise it is visually a better game that 2 was and the collision detection with the bullets seems better.

They're all 2001 releases, and the console did release in America in October 2000. Some probably came out a couple of weeks or a month after it's 1 year birthday (didn't FFX come out in December?), but only nit-picky weiners will argue about that.

The only real complaint I have is the back-compat

I really want to play Otogi and the rest of my xbox games on this thing as well

Halo is not all that. Never was.

It still amazes me when people make comments like that. Ok, sure, it mayn't been all that to you, but to deny the impact it's had on the Xbox brand and gaming as a whole is just...well, stupid.

i just want to take this time out to thank whoever posted the "glitch" in the mountain dew xbox360 contest. i didnt buy a single mountain dew but i won and received my xbox360 for free a few days before launch! THANK YOU!
