Xbox 360 Live demo availability thread

Some weapons can be controlled with the right stick so you can shoot where you want. I have a video of this I'll put online this week end.
There's really no need to upload the vid since you can already do it with the cars in the demo. The red one lets you aim the rockets, the yellow lets you aim the shotgun. The machine gun (red) and grenades (yellow) are dummy fire.

But if you really wanna upload it just for that... ;)

Full Auto is such a wasted opportunity, they obviously have some great physics going on but the game runs way too fast and chaotically to appreciate them. The framerate hit is minimal at 480i it seems.

yeah but GRAW is somewhat feasible considering it launches in a little more than a month

i think we are more likely to get a battlefield and burnout demo soon. EA has been great with demos on the marketplace so far

...but does anyone really think sc4 is coming out in a couple of months with as little media as we've seen? this game might get delayed like GRAW did
It's already known that the game/info has been under various embargos/NDAs for a while now.

Sure it could be delayed, but right now it's scheduled for the end of March.

Okay, don't download Full Auto demo is what I'm hearing. I hope they get demos for Oblivion and GRAW up in the next few weeks.

eh, its definitely worth a 20 minute free download IMO. the game feels like one of those cheesey arcade games at the local pizza parlor. its fun to screw around with if there plenty of free credits :)

I've never been able to download anything large from XBL Marketplace that fast. I had it downloading for about an hour last night and it only got to 60%. I dunno what it is, my bandwidth is fine and everything other than Xbox 360 stuff downloads at much higher speeds.

This may be old but - do any of you have trouble downloading large files off marketplace There was a thread on XBL forums about it, but it sort of hasn't got any official response.

I can download smaller files like skins, pics, themes and arcade games, but it freezes up when I try to download something bigger. Sometimes it starts at 5% and then kicks me out due to a "timeout" - when I restart the download it jumps to 50% and then freezes up again. I somehow managed to download Fight Night 3 demo with a dozen restarts.

What's up with that? I can play Live games with no lag issues whatsoever, NAT is fine, network is fine, all is fine. Except large files from marketlplace. Any ideas?

It's still dl'ing, it's just the status bar doesn't work all the time. Just let it run, it'll eventually finish.

The Full Auto demo was the first time my system froze outside of badly programmed compatability emulation. I know they're eager to get these files out to the marketplace but they need to tighten it up.

yup, the full auto demo is trash. even on the OXM disc. it's the only game that has froze my xbox. talk about bad code. the least they could have given us was a complete version of that level since it's already gold.

protip : when downloading a large file, once it starts, you'll notice that the "Cancel Download" button is highlighted.... move up to "Play download" (or whatever is above)

Now, when the screen goes blank (the screen saver thing) , it seems like something happens and whatever option you left the cursor on gets actioned...

if you leave it on cancel, the dl gets cancelled
if you leave it on play, then the download will have continued.

:)

i don't know, I didn't find this as bad as the thread led me to believe. Sort of humdrum, with a few brief hiccups? yea, but not buggy as hell or hurting my 360. I wouldn't pay $60 for it though I just got my unit and am not game starving. But later on at a discount I would definitely try this game out. It does have a very Car Wars sort of feel, or less slick Burnout. I sort of liked the rewind feature and some of the destruction. More "meh" than "awful" for me.

Yeah I hate that screensaver thing, I just turned it off from the system's menu.

Wow, that demo was...not very good. Coming right from Burnout Revenge, you immediately notice that the game controls like shit, runs like shit, and isn't very fast. You also notice that, outside of the higher resolution, the game looks worse than Revenge (technically better, but nowhere near as pretty nor as impressive in motion). Revenge 360 will destroy this.

The driving engine just isn't any good, though. It's very floating and has no weight. No satisfaction in driving OR crashing, as the cars plow through shit very unrealistically.

I'm shocked at how bad the framerate is too. Very unstable and loaded with akward feeling pauses.

Ah yes, it also crashed on me once.

The ad campaign for the game blows the demo away...

Eh, it's another Geometry Wars wanna be. When will they learn, you can't out war GW.

The original mode's better.

you do know crystal quest is a game that came out like... 17 years ago... right? :P

So why release it? The point is that it's an old game that nobody gives a crap about and whoopie it plays just like an already released modern game that's a billion times better. What's the point of releasing all these XBLA games that play the same? You'd think having variety would be a no brainer, but then again this is MS...

Err, Crystal Quest doesn't play like Geometry Wars at all.

Geo Wars is all about blowing stuff up and looking pretty. Crystal Quest is collecting the crystals in a quasi pac man fashion while avoiding enemies. In fact, I would say Crystal Quest is closer to a more open version of pac man than Geo Wars.

You fly things around using dual analogues with one to move and one to shoot in all directions...hmmm...

So we have:

-Geometery Wars
-Mutant Storm
-Robotron
-Crystal Quest

That all have the same control scheme that's not really a 'general scheme' used in most games. The games may play differently but it's still a little fishy that so many games early on have a lot in common.

Where are the Final Fights, The Striders, The Street Fighters, The UN Squadrons, the varied gameplay titles? XBLA is awesome, but it needs to start getting stuff out faster.

Man, just saying that makes me excited. There's been no news on this right, cause that woud be an awesome addition to XBLA. I can always hope...

Oh you can fire with the right analog stick? I've been playing the levels without this. Just using the bombs.

Me = pwned :lol

I agree that there need to be more classic arcade games on Live Arcade. I'd love to see classic Capcom and Konami arcade games on the service. Both companies are signed on so they should be coming. I'm sure we'll see some more announcments at E3.

Oh and we should probably take this discussion to the official XBLA thread. ;)
