Goddamnit, I just realized you can no longer download demos outside your region because you'll need a Gold membership for your other accounts as well. ****ers.

Lost Planet is apparently up now for the US Marketplace.

From MajorNelson:

Available in: All Xbox Live regions
Dash Details: The online demo for the highly anticipated SciFi action shooter LOST PLANET is here! Snow pirates around the world await your entry into the hostile, frozen world of LOST PLANET!

*This content will be available for all Xbox Live Silver members on 11/30/06.

Nice multiplayer shooter, I don´t have much complaints. The map wasn´t really that great though

I am not sure I will play it online with Gears right now and Halo 3 next year though

Is the Dereliction map removed from this download unless you have the magic preorder key? It was the better of the two maps from what i played last night.

ugh.. an hour and a half later, still not up. I'm tired, yet for some reason I feel like I need to play this before sleeping. :lol

Same price as PC. How dare they!

I had no idea it was a PC title as well. That doesn't change much however as I was voicing my opinion, and that opinion whether you think it's correct or not isn't likely to change until/unless I play the game. That's what trial versions are for right?

All I've seen of Roboblitz has made it look like a primarily multiplayer arena based combat game, not worth (what is it, $25?) Especially since Small Arms, which has comparable graphical fidelity and appears to be a similar type of game retails at half that price.

I'll play the trial game and find out if my thoughts are correct, I hope to be pleasantly surprised, but even then I doubt I'd shell out $25 for an XBLA title.

at least we can do this on the 360. i hate the fact i can't demo anything on VC and PSN. it's total bullshit and nintendo and sony lose major points for not offering free trials.

Both Blast Factor and Cash Guns Chaos (the only two PSN-exclusive titles thus far) have downloadable demos on the PSN, alongside F1 and Resistance demos.

1200 points is $15.

Really? Well that's MUCH better, blame the obscure points system, I doubled it almost in my mind. In that case I'll prolly pick up Small Arms and maybe Roboblitz if it's fun.

That's pretty crappy, how could they not have demos!? That's really going to hurt the service, especially since a lot of the games on PSN are going to be new and untested material. I expect that to be fixed soon though.

that's true. i forgot to mention those. but unless this becomes a standard on PSN and VC, i see a lot of upset consumers in the future. sucks that the new PS1 downloads have no free trials either.

naw, just a brain fart on my end. :lol it still isn't consistent though, not everything on PSN has a trial download like i mentioned (points to PS1 games). VC on the other hand can suck it -- i don't expect nintendo to ever offer demos for those games.

/end of derailment

Well, at this point it would be kind of inconvenient for PS1 games to have trials, they'd have to put two files up there, a smaller one that's the trial, and a larger one that's the full game... unless you want to download the whole thing, transfer to PSP and find out you don't want the game.

PSP and VC games are all old games. Either you're buying them because you remember them fondly, or missed them last time round. And there are plenty of posts on the web to get decent impressions

time limits on the full game would make sense for VC and playstation games would probably be easier to implement compared to actually locking out content.

if MS can do it, i don't see why sony and nintendo can't.

Well, how does MS do it with something like Contra? It's certainly feasible.

free trials/demos should be the standard for any online downloadable games, especially if sony/nintendo/ms are trying to appeal to the casual/non-gamer crowd. anything less and consumers are on the losing end. a one-paragraph description hardly gives a person an idea as to how the game will play out. $15 is a lot to spend on an unknown game, so i'm glad that we at least have the opportunity to try it before we buy it.

I'm not saying it isn't feasible, it's really more of a mild annoyance in terms of size, and download time. Downloading 20MB Contra file and finding out you don't want it versus downloading a 400MB PS1 file and finding out you don't want it.

pacman, frogger, digdug and galaga are WAY older than any sony game. yet m$ offers trial before buy.
I dont see your point there.
xbox 360 has some nice features. those should be looked upon, and not downplayed because of whatever console "rivalry" thing..
