Xbox 360 Live demo availability thread

Odd, I remember playing it with a co-worker online.
Or perhaps the update was to play through the co-op story part online (which wasn't possible in the demo).

I tried several times to play it online the day it came out, made my own rooms but nobody joined, searched for rooms and none were there. Whatever the problem was I think I should be able to play with other people now.

Wasn't there a Viva Pinata demo, has it been removed or something? I want to try it out but all i can find is some crummy video

I guess I just had good luck then.
Too bad my coworker despised the game, I thought it was pretty fun though co-op through the story would have been the best part of all.

A demo for The Darkness will be hitting sometime early June.

A bulletin recently posted by the official MySpace page of the upcoming 2K title, The Darkness, has clarified several details about the new release. The juiciest of these tidbits is the revelation that a demo is slated to be released before the game hits store shelves. The bulletin notes that the demo won't be finished in time to make any magazine covers, so it will download only. Currently, the demo is scheduled to arrive approximately 3 weeks before the title debuts on June 25th, so it should be on Marketplace in the first week of June or so.

Also mentioned in the bulletin, a new video has been created, though it has yet to escape the evil clutches of the "certain voluntarily regulatory agencies." We can't imagine what sort of agency would prevent the distribution of horrifyingly violent material, but then again we're to desensitized to judge anymore. The bulletin also reveals that those who pre-order the title from EB or GameStop get an exclusive 2K Sports Darkling that wields a baseball bat. Nice.

Here's hoping the demo comes out sooner rather than later.

So I was finally able to play some Monster Madness online. CTF was pretty bad. Deathmatch wasn't well constructed, but fun in a chaotic way as long as you don't care about winning or balance. A lot of wasted potential, all in all.

I read that the same way newsguy, but it looks like Cipher just was excited about the idea of a demo. So no it aint up!

Dammit! I'm not home so when people yell fire I get excited :(

E3 am here, so much surprise marketplace stuff

didn't expect a demo this early considering the game is coming out in september

IGN announced it yesterday.

Anyways, the DL is moving at a snails pace... which is really uncommon (at least for me). I wonder if it has anything to do with the spring update.

Patching demos?

Anyways......

I did try the MM demo, for a few minutes. Was pretty disappointed. Great presentation and theme, though.

I believe Hexic HD and SF2 also got patched, the full games though, dunno about the demos.

Heh... I'll download it for the hell of it I guess - it really is the best lookiing movie game I've ever seen though! :lol

I just finished playing through the Pirates demo (UK account). Not good at doing detailed impressions so I'll just summarize:

+ The presentation is pretty nice.
+ Good graphics (great for a movie game)
+ Combat is decent I guess (but gets old quick). It's very basic but there's several counter-attacks and finishing moves and stuff.
+ The analog based sword dueling was pretty cool. You'd press up on the analog stick to do a high attack, medium for the middle body, down to do a low slice etc.

- Level design was no fun (and very repetitive) though to be fair it was a tutorial.
- Camera is shitty, I found myself wrestling with it the whole time
- Controls are poorly mapped and non-standard ... LB picks up items, B button jumps, etc.
- Jack only speaks like two lines in the demo despite being so talkative in the movies. And voice acting seems low quality too.

Overall it's better then most movie games I'd guess. If you're a fan of the movies it might be worth a play-through, otherwise there's nothing really special about the game. I'd give it around a 6 or 7 based on the demo.

Yeah, pretty much exactly how I feel. Don't think I'll be buying it, maybe a rental.

I'd pretty much agree with all of that. Overall I just found it so dull and uninspiring though. But can't say I expected much better from such a licence.

So, any impressions of the Blacksite demo? I've never heard of the game before btw.

The demo was ok, but exceedingly short. If the framerate is fixed up (it was pretty bad) then it could be pretty cool. Very atmospheric. I think it has the best rain I have yet seen in a game.

Gears does it a lot better, even though they run on the same engine. For example you can see rain streaming down the trees in Gears. In Blacksite the trees just look like they are covered in glue.

They game doesn't seem to bring anything new to the table (hard to tell from a 3 minute demo) and feels like a poor man's Resistance/Half-Life 2. Very unpolished. I don't remember the release date for this game, but if they want it to sell they better release it long before Halo 3.
