Xbox 360 Live demo availability thread

Just tried Fatal Intertia. Absolutely terrible.

Sub-30fps framerate, tearing.

It's really shit. Games like this NEED to be 60fps. Wtf!?

It seems that using the ue3 for a racing game was a bad idea :(

Is UT3 to blame? Has any game hit 60 FPS with it on a console yet?

No, but Gears looks 10,000 times better than Fatal Inertia, has almost no tearing, and smooth, locked 30fps framerate. So they could have at least matched that.

But UE3 was always a stupid idea for this kind of game. Futuristic racing games aren't about high-res textures and mega-polygons, they're about artistic sci-fi style and a superfast framerate.

Between FI and Full Auto, I'm going to make the sweeping generalization that Toronto area developers don't know how to make combat racing games.

Is there a trial or a demo of the demos we can download?

I just want to make sure it's good before I buy it.

I think he ^^ is trying to be clever and relate it to the other thread where we were discussing about being charged for demos (ie Beautiful Katamari).

But the only problem is, Fatal Inertia is a free demo.

Will Koei pull a Silicon Knights?

"Hey, people are hating on our game because of your engine!"

"We didn't ask you to use it."

"Yeah, well....****! We've got to reproachfully point our collective finger at someone!"

holyyyy shit

are Koei going to sue Epic too?

what the hell is this?!

i`d say this is a poor mans Wipeout, but that`s an insult to poor people.

From watching the videos, FI reminded me of Quantum Redshift. I guess I was right on that assumption.

ABSOLUTELY WRONG. (slaps you with french gloves!) ;)

Quantum Redshift is actually a decent game - it also had a stable frame rate and was fun to play.... despite having to replay a lot of tracks. But as a techincal Wipeout style racer, it was vastly under appreciated - Redshift ranking was insane fun and had those tricky corners that meant every bend was an exercise in perfection.

FI... man... it`s shocking. I`ve seen Mars probes with better frame rates.

this is how bad FI is....

it would have served the X360 better if it had remained a PS3 exclusive.

FI's frame rate isn't really the main problem, either.

The fact that all of the obstacles on the track are so cramped together makes it pretty difficult to steer your hovercraft without bumping into something on a frequent basis.

I was throwing my coin into the "Paying for demos I should be getting for free. I can't wait!" discussion that was in this same topic but sure you can assume "demos" meant Fatal Inertia and go with your theory if it makes you feel better.

Wow Fatal Inertia is just terrible. Awful controls, bad framerate, horrible pop-up, clipping issues, unimpressive graphics... I could go on and on. What a crappy game. Nothing good can come of this game's exclusivity to the Xbox platform.

Except it's not.

Well I must admit I didn't give the game much of a chance (10 minutes or so), so please explain to me what I must do to enjoy the game.

Oh don't worry, I agree with you on its less than stellar showing. I was referring to the exclusivity to the Xbox platform. It's also coming for the PS3.

This definitely plays a fiddle to Dyack's recent... "concerns." :lol

I hope they someday release an iteration of UE3 where textures can be loaded fast enough so we don't see them 'popping' onto the models seconds after the game has started. I've seen this happen in Gears of War, Lost Odyssey and now Fatal Inertia. Its kind of annoying.

They could do it if MS allowed a game to be hard drive required.
