Gah, after having a ton of trouble last week with my comp due to my beast of a sister messing up the network when she configured her new laptop, more network trouble for me. I didn't have this problem until after my PC was fixed (before it could not go on any sites save for cnn, google, youtube, and a handful of others), even while my PC was acting screwy I copuld connect to live just fine . and the guy who fixed it also installed the following: NOD32, Spy Sweeper, Windows washer.

When I connect my 360 directly to my router with the ethernet cable it works fine, but wireless (I'm using the 'official' wireless network adaptor) does not. The adaptor itself works, and the distance from my router has never been an issue in the past and just to be sure I put my 360 + wireless adaptor in the same room as my PC + router, same result.

Any ideas as to what my problem may be? I need me some XBL loving

Try disconnecting the adapter for a bit, and resetting the router.

I had a similar problem a little while a go - I guess the wireless adapter "overheated" or something, A few hours later, i plugged it back in and all was right with the world once more.

Fingers crossed that's your problem too.

Weird. Like tale said, try resetting your router/modem. If that doesn't work, try to set IP and the rest manually. What error do you get when testing the connection on the 360 by the way?

Yea I'm going to reset the router now. Don't want to go and manually assign IP's though as the guy that fixed my PC said that was the problem, and after he set everything to auto my comp worked fine in regards to connecting to the net. Infact after my PC was fixed I could still connect to live, I stopped being able two like ~2 days afterwards, and as far as I know no one made any changes to my network.

It may be that your wireless router has broadcast SSID disabled. Try inputing the name of your router in manually to see if it can find it.

Which encryption are you using ? The 360 cannot see a WPA encrypted network, change to WEP !

The 360 can detect WPA, but it cannot detect WPA2. You made a good point there Rayne.S. X26, maybe he changed the security settings to WPA2? If so, your 360 will not recognize your wireless network. You'll have to set it to WPA, via your router. Maybe a little less secured, though still more than safe, but WPA2 will not work with your 360.

Good christ, I'm an idiot. I figured out my problem: All I needed to do, was select my linksy's router from a network list under network settings. That's it. I've gone without Live for close to a week over such a simple thing. Thanks for the help anyway guys :lol
