Since we announced the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller at E3 2015 last June, we’ve gotten a ton of overwhelmingly positive feedback from fans. In fact, there’s so much buzz and demand around the upcoming controller, that we’re expecting the availability to be pretty tight this holiday season. It hits shelves in the U.S. on Oct. 27, and eager Xbox fans have pre-ordered almost our entire initial shipment!

I suppose it really doesn't mean much without knowing how many controllers are actually in that first shipment but it seems the Elite is doing pretty well so far. Only a couple more days until I can get my hands on one.

Is that D-pad as awful as it looks? I mean, I know the Xbox controller has never had a good D-pad but still.

Well it's modular isn't it? You can swap out the d-pad.

Not sure if any of them are actually good though lol.

The basic construction of the Xbox D-pad has historically been a disc on top of a stick, and from what I can tell the Xbox One does that again. Does that construction change with this controller?

The D-Pad on the original Xbox Controller S was really good as far as I can remember.

I have one, no it wasn't.

You can put in a more traditional D-pad if you choose to.

That rubber underside makes me think it's constructed differently and more like the PS d-pad's board contact style, which would actually be a godsend. If it's indeed no longer a disc-on-a-stick I may actually want one of these.

Nvm. I thought you were referring to the circle dpad that the Elite comes with.

No idea about the elite specifically, but the Xbone Dpad on the normal controllers is excellent, so if it's the same mechanism as that it'll be fine.

Amazon posted on their product page a while back that if you order now you aren't getting the first shipment. I ordered from Best Buy so hopefully I can get it on day one. I'm shocked as hell that it's selling so well since it has a high price point.

Yeah, I ordered mine a few days after Amazon posted that statement, and I was hoping I would still get through, but it looks like they really did sell through their shipment.

Placed an order with GameStop.com a few days ago and they just charged my card, so it looks like they were probably allotted the biggest shipment.

I pre-ordered mine from Amazon on 9/9, if I didn't get in on the first order of them, I'll just cancel and get from GameStop or somewhere else that has them in stock. Hopefully they aren't as rare to find as it seems to be.

You might want to show up to the Halo 5 midnight launch if you're planning on getting one of these.

We had two preorders and won't be getting many more available units beyond that.

My best buy order still says delivering on the 27th
If that slips I may cancel it. I'm enjoying the steam controller more than I thought I would so I don't need this immediately

here is what it shows on amazon

Currently unavailable.
We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.

gamestop is still good so is best buy, but I never trust best buy

No real reason to shit on this news. Even if the initial shipment is rather small (which I would assume it is, it's a super premium product), it's nice to see that there is a demand for it.

I don't begrudge them for being excited that the incredible expensive, non-essential peripheral is doing well.

Bummed I didn't pre-order a few months ago when Iw as going to. I decided to wait for my Amazon points to accrue, then found out you can't use Amazon points on a pre-order item which is pretty stupid.

Recently, MLG have approved the Xbox Elite Controller for all their tournaments. The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller is approved for use by Major League Gaming for all competitive gaming activities and tournaments,” said Adam Apicella, Executive Vice President at MLG. “The customization options are great, showcasing the desired functionality required for pro level competition.”

I'm assuming there's nothing to make the sticks a bit less loose on this?

i.e. matching 360 stick friction vs looseness of the XB1 pad

edit: wrong thread - should have been impressions thread!
