Xbox Games On Demand Thread For The Few Reasonably Priced Releases

Steam still has me won over in terms of digital goods sales.
I use Steam a bit, but only when games are on sale or I want an indie game. For big releases, it's usually always cheaper to buy them elsewhere. Even a lot of the downloadable games that are multiplatform work out more expensive on Steam than on XBLA/PSN, especially when you factor in that you can buy discounted MSP/PSN cards. I can understand why it gets some love, but it ain't that great to me. Certainly better than GoD when it comes to pricing though!

It's in the Spotlight section of the dashboard. It shows the deals for this week, recently discounted games, and then there's another section for "top deals" where you can find content that's 800 msp or less or 400 msp or less.

buh, thanks. ive searched around for it but couldnt find it recently. guess i wasnt looking hard enough. ill check it out.

probably right in front of my face there.

They need to do more deals like they did with Alan Wake. Buy a code card for $5.

What are they losing there? I bet hardly anyone buys these anyway.

That wasn't them doing it. It was someone who was selling a pile of code cards. Major Nelson tweeted about it, but Microsoft had nothing to do with it, other than I guess they had to have sold that stack of cards (left over from a holiday bundle) to someone at some point.

It's still a good idea.

People run out and buy bigger hard drives, companies get more people to play their games, and on top of that hard copies are still preferred.

Why I have to pay $30 for a game that is sold for $15 or $20 at Gamestop is beyond me.

Still not good enough, MS! Mark it down lower.
you can't just lower prices like that, there is a shit ton of back end bills and agreements to meet too, pc games don't have that console tax only the share valve take for example, then theres most likely agreed prices microsoft are happy with, then there is also not pissing off retail stores by undercutting them constantly, and of course the moment GoD titles are cheaper then 1200 arcade games the arcade scene will go tits up.

I recently got a 250gb hard drive, and I keep eyeing GoD, but I keep not being able to justify my purchases.

Been considering:
Halo Reach - I would probably sell my hard copy, and keep it on the hard drive so I always have it handy without having to dig out the disc.
Tales of Vesperia - One of my wife's and my favorite games. Again, we own the disc, but I could see owning an entirely digital version and selling my disc. But, the PS3 fan translation seems like it will probably be done this summer, so if I'm going to play through again, I'll probably wait for that.
Beautiful Katamari - My wife loves this game, but we also have Katamari Forever, so I don't know that it's worth it.
Super Street Fighter 4 - I had SF4 for a while, and loved it, but with MvC3 on my desk and Mortal Kombat out in about a week, do I really need another fighting game?

A few more £15 games up that I've spotted:

Sonic & SEGA Racing
Eternal Sonata
50 Cent: BotS
OF: Dragon Rising
TEKKEN 6

Eternal Sonata is well worth £15, I love that game.

Sonic Racing too, £15 well spent.

I still need to buy Tales, have the points but I will have no time for a few weeks to sink into it.

it's a bargain at $69.95 on the Australian marketplace, and we're at $1.06 against the US dollar at the moment.

again, we pay more for XBL and we get this sort of crap all the time
look after us MS!!

Generally you can get somewhat good deals on GoD games if you opt to buy in points instead, and get cheap points from somewhere on the web.

still... I might be able to knock it down to $60 at best, still over 3 times more expensive than what our US friends pay
