Xbox Games With Gold for December

Nothing worth playing for me there, after all it's pretty hard to give something worthy in this month when we got already so many new good games to play

The performance isn't great in Van Helsing, but the deal breaker for me was the UI. Everything is much too small, especially the text, and the menus are a pain to navigate. I think I'd rather double dip on Diablo3.
Maybe Sacred will be more compatible with a console experience ? (I know it got harsh comments earlier, but I don't mind a cheesy, brainless game, as long as it's fun to play)

Sacred 3 is a very underwhelming game. Don't go in expecting much from it. It's short, basic, repetitive and boring. Sure, it has its moments and isn't bad per se, but it's severely underwhelming.

The framerate and performance in general on Van Helsing is dreadful.

It's an... ok game, though, so far. Silly that there's a single class to choose from, and everything else is paid DLC.

Just started it this morning, myself.

The frame rate and performance was bad at the beginning, but it got better as I progressed. I've completed two major quests, plus some side quests, but have only explored the first town and forest area.

I'd been wanting to play this game for years, and although it's not exactly what I hoped it would be or as good as I hoped it would be, it's decent. I'll likely play through it over the course of this month.

It's difficult on normal, though. You're expected to die a lot. I hack until I have next to no life left, run away, try to let it refill, then go back in. But the perk that lets you turn into a ghost when you perish and then respawn is great.

Game crashed when I went to exit it, though. I clicked exit on the main menu and it crashed.

Wow, I thought someone would've posted since my last post.

I wanted to comment on Van Helsing, after having played it more. I find that it's a good example of bad game design, which is too bad because I was really looking forward to it.

It's not fun when you're constantly swarmed by 20 enemies who are overpowered. It's also not intelligent design. Dying every minute isn't the way to create a fun experience.

It seems like Max: The Curse of Brotherhood is back again, possibly as a bonus game?

Not sure if it's available on the web as I've already purchased it last time it was GWG, but it's appearing as free with gold on Smart Glass and Console.

Anyone that missed on it last time should definitely get it, one of the best games with gold to date imo.

I didn't own this and it showed up on the website too. Random bonus (or bug) it seems.

I thought I was the only one with this issue. Started the game on hard cause I wanted a bit of a challenge but it is a joke.

When fighting the wolf boss in the cave, the red particle effects make the game drop to single digits.

I haven't touched the game since then. It doesn't feel like 30 capped fps to me either. The game feels/looks really 'rough' outside, running at about 25 instead.

Thank you for the information. It's free for me as well.

Only the XOne version is free or the 360 too?
I can't acess the store right now

Applies to Thief too though.

Yeah, I've got the same issue. Last month I couldn't get the 360 games because it didn't accept my PayPal account as a valid payment option. Now I can't even get my Xbone games.

Max doesn't even show as available on its store page, very odd. Shows me the discount in the GWG page, but when I click through it doesn't show up as free.

not valid anymore it seems :/

It's still available for me via the console, try changing your region at bottom left to UK?

Edit: I can't see if it charges me as I already have it last time I was GWG, I was referring to it being discounted in the GWG page. Beware if you try to buy it incase it charges you.

Cool if Max is free, I got a code for it for $2 a while back and thought it was excellent, really underrated imo, it never wore out its welcome and has some pretty epic scenes and setpieces

Must say i quite like Thief. I believe it had some poor reviews. But never played a
Thief game. Love the real focus on sneaking alot of other games are missing these days.
Game has poor perfomance tho. Lot of framedrops.

It's an excellent game and one of my favorite stealth experiences in recent years. But you're right about the performance. It's unfortunately poorly optimized on consoles. I played it on my Alienware laptop months after I finished the XB1 version and it's incredible at ~60fps. But still, I had a lot of fun playing it.

Also, for those of you playing Thief and enjoying it, I recommend checking out the Bank Heist DLC. I believe it is $5, but if you're liking the game, it's worth it.

Yeah really enjoying it. I have here a backlog of many games and i am playing this one i got for free haha. Just sneak arround in the shadows with not much difficulty. Lot of stealth games these days have AI who spot you way to fast.

Question: I'm new to Xbox One. I used one of the 15 day Gold trials I have, and was able to get Thief and Van Helsing, but not the 2 360 games. I tried on my PC and my 360, but they are coming up as regular priced. Any ideas?

Also, Thief is pretty good. Van Helsing is awful, not even good enough to be an iOS game.

I think if you purchase them for free online via the Microsoft Xbox store, then they will show up in your games and apps to download on the Xbox One afterwards. http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-gb/Product/OF-Dragon-Rising/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802434d0811
I can see the price 8.99 but above that in gold text it says free.
