Xbox Games With Gold for October

I don't mind Chariot but I think there should always be two current-gen games per month, like with PlayStation Plus.

Bfbc 2 is one of my favorite games ever but Microsoft never gave me a reason to keep my 360 so I sold it.

So looking as a xbox one owner only I think this is yet another bad month
 
Damn MS is killing it with these deals. I think PSN only got Darksiders 1. Pretty crazy that so soon after implementation GoG is already getting to be better than PS+.
 
Chariot looks alright except for the fact they have the characters vocalize every single time they jump

Just one of those things I find unnecessary and distracting in 2D platformers where you are constantly jumping

Maybe you'll be able to turn it off.
 
The 360 titles are fine, Dark Siders 2 is a great choice but the XBO Games with Gold has been garbage the past few months except for Max and Super Time Force but dragging terribly.

Just played 2 days ago. Servers are pretty populated. A lot of people switch from BF4 to older Battlefields so BC2 has seen a resurgence lately.
 
Couch co-op is awesome so happy to see another title support it!

Glad to see MS abandon reusing titles over 2 months. Hopefully leads to a true 2+2 system soon, I'm being spoilt rotten on the 2+2+2* on PS+.

Would prefer 360 titles that were more than $9 at retail though.
 
Looks pretty good to me.

I will gladly take a sole new, interesting indie release (like they did with guacamelee), than 2 crappy titles (looking at you crimson dragon and strike suit zero).

Although the impression I get is people are more concerned about having more numbers than getting good titles. I mean if you really want to get a fighter within/lococycle combo for a month so that you get 2 titles, then I don't really know what to say.

Also it would be awesome if this brought back some life to the BC2 community. Would be even better if it included the Vietnam expansion, that was really fun, except for helicopters that were made of rice paper (I swear you could bring one down with a sidearm).

Speaking as a PS guy, PS+ hasn't been much better for PS4. Let's hope that a year or two down the road we start seeing some older titles show up on GWG/PS+, but there's just no backlog now to draw from. The drought of good titles, such as it is, shouldn't really be a surprise.

Holy... great! Bad Company 2, sold mine to get BF3... in retrospect, a bad decision. Want to replay the campaign, and play some MP.

Does it still have players on 360?

The 360 titles are very solid (although Darksiders and Bad Company 1 are better), but I'm not sure about Chariot. I don't think it's my type of game, being that its achievement list makes me think of Spelunky and it looks like a physics based co-op puzzler in a lot of ways.

That said, I could be wrong.

PS3 Plus IGC is still ahead for mine.

360 catching up with the Bone and 4 miiiiiiles behind as a wash. Actually, id put the PS4 IGC a bees dick ahead thanks to Strider.
 
Chariot looks kinda cool but seriously MS step up the X1 offerings. The comparison even with pretty weak PS Plus offering lately isn't flattering at all. Not the kind of support I expected thus far from a company trying to win people over and retain a critical mass of Gold members so that people don't just buy stuff on PS4 because that is where their friends are.

Stuff like Crimson Dragon especially for 2 months seems like they don't take their fans who stuck with them seriously.

Oddly the 360 offerings have been really good when there is little incentive for them to care at this point.

Agreed. They need to step it up a bit, but some of their offerings have been pretty good, like Dishonored, Guacamelee and Super T.I.M.E. Force.
 
Games with gold really is the worse service. I say this as a new Xbox live gold subscriber. I have no interest in any of these. Won't even bother.

the 360 offerings have been better because there's a ton more games out for it and giving stuff out for free may drive some dlc purchases or whatever. Free games are also a really good reason to keep Live if you're still on the 360, since they opened up the paywall to stuff like netflix and hulu. The XB1 just doesn't have anywhere near the library to dip into right now.

GWG is a neat bonus and you don't have to like everything, but it's not something I weighed heavily when buying Gold for the xb1.
 
I'm very happy with this month's offerings! Been contemplating a Darksiders 2 repurchase again, so getting it for free is sweet! Plus I still have some dlc from the first time I owned the game. Bad Company 2 is another welcome addition, and whose multiplayer I never really played much. I'm going to guess that's dead these days, but at least the single player is fun.

Chariot sounds great, but once again, only one X1 game this month. What gives?? C'mon Microsoft, step it up, and give us two per month like Plus!
 
PS4 has a LOT more indies to choose for the program, how can microsoft give away two titles a month if it barely has any indie games at all? I bet that when ID @ Xbox will get better and allow the release of a lot of games, things will change
 
I though CastleStorm might have been one, it's an amazingly overlooked game.

I think they need to switch it to new and not so many 2D sidescrollers.

Lococycle could have been an easy add this month surely.

EA removed the need to purchase Online Passes in a desperate attempt to not be the worst company 3 yrs in a row. You should be able to find them on the marketplace for free now if you ever need one for an EA game.

I bought BC2 from PSN a while back and only played it recently, and I had no issues with any online pass business. I assume it's either not necessary with digital purchases (which would make sense), or it's included as a mandatory update after the initial download.

Anyway, that's a great pair of games. Chariot looks interesting I guess, although I've played lots of physics-based platformers in the last few years.

It certainly helps, but the plot isn't super deep or anything. Darksiders 2 actually takes place alongside Darksiders 1, so besides knowing the general premise (
the horseman War is wrongly accused of instigating the apocalypse on Earth and in DS2 his brother Death sets out on a separate journey to clear his name
), it doesn't really matter, and DS2 actually does nothing in moving the series' plot forward (
nothing that Death does has any impact on War's status
). It's a great game though, and worth trying. Kind of like the style and puzzles of Soul Reaver crossed with the platforming and movement of Prince of Persia, and the combat of God of War thrown in for good measure.
