Is #8 the lowest Castle Crashers has ever been? And who the hell is still playing Doom 3 on Xbox? Every time I look at that list it's up there.

Half of ODST is Halo 3. The second disc shows up on my 360 as Halo 3.
Yup. The stats at b.net have shown Halo 3 as high as I've ever seen it. ODST did well, but it won't ever top Halo 3, partly for that reason. It's also going to drop fairly quickly, as people move from the campaign/Firefight back to MP.

lol halo 3 > odst

...:(
Everyone with a copy of odst has a new copy of halo 3 so I wouldn't ever expect it to go the other way. Halo 3 actually saw a .5 million boost since odst's release.

No suprises there.
By the end of the year, it's gonna be all Call of Duty and Halo in the top 5, Xboxers just can't get enough.

ARGH HOW DID I NOT SUBTITLE THIS THREAD 'HALO WARS'.

GOD DAMN IT.

Zombie Apacalypse is an excellent shooter with coop and many different (unlockable) modes. New table for Pinball FX which is excellent but tough. I also picked up Ion Assault which is rated pretty well on Metacritic but looks to be lacking sales based on leaderboards. Right now IA is my most played arcade game.

Kidding.

Go ODST!

Oops! Thanks for the heads up.

There's a new Pinball FX TABLE?!?!?!?!

Not surprising with ODST.

The kind of odd/interesting thing I noticed is that COD 4 moved ahead of COD WaW. That hasn't happened in quite awhile.

Also good debut for Forza demo.

What's especially interesting is that ODST is #2 when we know 2million unique LIVE accounts have played it during this past week. That means Halo 3's #1 position had over 2million unique players during the same week.

at first i was like ugh halo 3, then i realized its everyone who bought odst
Or is it. Halo 3 would have beaten ODST even without the boost.

CoD4 beat WaW for the first time in a couple of months, so I'd guess that ODST stole some people away from that. Not completely unexpected, but it lends to the theory of anything not Halo 3 fucking evaporating come MW2.

What was ODST capped at Sunday? 1.8 million or so? We've gotten demos that boasted about a million downloads that only hit #7 or so. That's a fairly uninteresting range of numbers, though I would guess only a % of that million got counted for the chart.

Oh and 400 point XBLA deal of the weeks apparantly rock house, where the 800 ones are laying goose eggs.

Surprised to see ODST so high. I thought it would appear just below CoD4 or CoD: WaW.

ODST is a fine game to be sure. Its position is well-deserved.

A new game that sells a shitload of copies is always going to chart very well. Other games have sold more of course but the population of the people still playing those games relative to the number of people who have bought them overall is still low.

A new game though has everybody playing it so a large number of unique users are collected all at one time.

I'm really surprised to see GTA IV. Was it ever out of top ten?

Every week, I swear. Is this some kind of running gag?

No offense, MirageDwarf, it's just that every week in these threads for months someone comes in and posts their surprise at the GTAIV ranking. It's like clockwork.

Remember this is the number of players playing a game while signed into Live.

Not necessarily the number of people participating in online multiplayer.

Yup

I wonder if TMNT:TiT would've stuck around the Top 10 longer had it been the arcade/SNES version instead of the drab 3d remake. Also it probably didn't help that the online was changed from the from the original arcade XBLA release.

I don't think so. The rolling stats on b.net have had Halo 3 around 700-800k players per day. ODST topped a million for several days. But when Halo 3 came out, it jumped to 1.4 million, the highest I've ever seen it. In other words, Halo 3 got bump of over 60% when ODST came out.

Now, it's still possible Halo 3 would come out on top. But I think on the basis of the available data, it's more likely that ODST is what drove the boost to keep Halo 3 on top.

None taken. I know that feeling. In my defense, I don't follow these rankings every week and, also I don't remember asking it before. :)

Certainly was the case for me. I never got any of the map packs, so the Halo 3 Mythic disc is fucking awesome to have.

EDIT: Once November comes around, these threads will need to be retitled as "the top four games this week that don't have 'Gears of War' 'Call of Duty' or 'Halo' in the title."
