There's a new interview on computerandvidegames.com with Bizarre Creation's web and community lead Ben Ward, about PGR4. There's an interesting section in this interview here about "Xbox Live Content Server":

What about the new Gotham TV? Can we expect any improvements in the vein of Halo 3's saved film system?

Ward: Possibly (smiles). Gotham TV has been souped up due to the use of Microsoft's new Xbox Live Content Server (we're the first title to use it). It's now called "PGR On Demand", and it's certainly got some very interesting features. We're talking more about PGR On Demand in a couple of weeks time.

Will Halo3 use this Xbox Live Content server? Or other games? Will the content on that server be accessible outside of the games?

Not likely to be dedicated servers. This should pretty much be what it sounds like, they've already stated that EVERY single race is archived, this would be how you play them back.

yep, it's up to the devs if they want to spring for dedicated servers or not.

Devs can choose between peer to peer and dedicated servers.

yep, it's up to the devs if they want to spring for dedicated servers or not.

Battlefield 2, a non-MMO, had it way back when but I still hear people asking when MS will allow dedicated servers.

More up to the publishers, really, they are the ones who will fund them (same as on PS3).

It's basically an architecture for devs to run their own servers on Live. Lots of people use it. EA for example run all their games that way I think.
