Makes me actually want another contest that is similar to what Old Spice did a while back. Free games is good.

US and UK only.
This keeps pissing me of, paying the same for Live and only getting about 50% worth of content.

WHY DOESN'T GAMER SCORE = FREE MS POINTS!?!?!

Every 1,000 GS = 100 MS Points

The only way achievements would every be of worth to anyone ever.

Back when I didn't know what achievements were exactly, or specifically, why people went so crazy over them, I thought it was because they got to spend achievement points somehow in the marketplace. Then I found out it's because everyone was crazy.

When why don't you vote with your wallet instead?

Anyhow, you're basically earning a maximum of $5. I guess it was a good idea for Microsoft to go with the points system. It's essentially giving idiots the illusion of worth and people are falling into it. :lol

Because developers then would make every achievement easy as shit so people would buy their products based on that alone. I mean some crazy ass people already buy some games just because of their easy to get achievements (even if the games sucks) so guess what would happen if you would get MS points for them.

So in the long run MS would be losing a lot of money because no one would buy points anymore so why in the world would they do that?

And then Microsoft would have to do away with them completely and I would finally be able to sleep at night.

How bout this: Achievement points could be used on the marketplace only toward DLC on games you already own.

I'd say just the opposite: Getting paid $1.25 isn't exactly much of an added inducement to buy a game or complete a game. For it to be really meaningful, it would need to be more like $10. But that would basically wipe out all Microsoft's platform royalties on third party games.

Thing is people wouldn't actually buy the games. They'd rent them. Or buy them used at GameStop and return them for the full amount within 7 days.

Rather shitty values for things like 1 month live activation but it will work a lot better when I find out i'm 40 allards short of buying that new game I wanted, if you are going to save up the points to buy a game from scratch then this is really not worth it unless you are about to buy a family sub or something.

Do you have to renew your Live sub via MS (the console or Xbox.com) to get the rewards, or can you use pre-paid cards? I can't see anything about that in the T&C.

If its like, oh, every promotion MS has done, you have to have a CC tied to your account, pre-paids wont work.

You also have to buy content through the website/xbox, buying cards from GameStop wont work (codes).

I'm still waiting for the 100 points I ordered on Bing Rewards on 11/4 and 11/15, and the new minimum points you can redeem is 400 so the 107 points I have yet to redeem will just be wasted. Kinda BS.

I might sign up for this, but I bet not having Gold will make earning points take forever.

US/UK only .. I hate that

Xbox = UKox or USox :lol

It`s really sad. Microsoft somehow only sees the US ( of cause) and UK as important. Other countries have a ps3 on top of the charts (most of the time) and so MS thinks... oh what ever, your problem. No new stuff for you then haha" ... :(

Sad panda from germany here :(

It wouldnt bother me as much if they simply made LIVE cheaper there, a lot of this stuff is out of their control (like Netflix initially in Canada)

Shit like this promo however is not...fucking inexcusable

I signed up on xbox.de and then went to this reward site and clicked on the join button and i got in Oo..... i`m from germany ...Oo It says... Sit back, relax, and enjoy Xbox Live Entertainment while we set up your Rewards account.

Oo

For some reason no matter how many times I change my xbox email I always have to use my old one to sign in. I'm worried the reward program will send emails to my old address, it might not though because when I buy points i get an email on my current address.

u cant change your passport email (login) but whatever emails they send will be delivered to your other email address

*looks at list*

That's got to be the worst rewards list i've seen in awhile, half the stuff are rewards for subscribing to gold. Not buying games, just subscribing.

not too happy about the exclusion of any deals for Canada(or any other country for that matter). but how about some goddamn reward for us longtime users. like an earlier post, gamerscore could be a good alternative or even that big number next to our gamertags that does nothing but remind us how long we've been at it.

Hardly anybody seems to be actually thinking of the implications of this.

If that went into effect, people would just rentgames /borrow games from friends/buy a game and then return it/etc in order to get points, and sales of points cards would go way down. Since Microsoft make no money from people renting/borrowing games, then they'd just be pissing away money.

And as somebody else said, developers would just start making achievements easy to get, as that would become a big selling point. Do you really think Microsoft would let developers determine how much of Microsoft's money they get to give away?

Oh, and let's not forget the inherent unfairness of creating a virtual economy in which you get stuff for free if you're good at gaming, but you're shit out of luck if you're not.

It's never going to happen, and there are plenty of perfect justifiable reasons for that.
