You think the move from console was Spencer? I always assumed that Nutella and Hood pioneered this.Once things got out of hand Spence and Co swept under the rug and rebooted. They couldn't keep Spencer for a rebrand at this point. I'm not saying some of this wasn't under Spencer, the games took a long time to get going and the catalog was all over the place. I'm not even sure he championed Gamepass more than he was given a mandate but was given the ability to buy more studios because of it. Either way MS is a multi headed beast and too much changes in that organization to be consistent it seems with the way they handle things.

Yeah....Spencer is the guy in charge and frankly he is the guy who yapped the most. You don't talk as much as Spencer did about the shit he did without believing it unless you are one damn good liar. But this is all speculation either way. That's my read on it. You can have yours as well and we will probably never know if either of us even come close.

Bro literally thinks that OS updates and the corporate pencil-pushing are free. Someone clearly already wrote off a solid portion of corporate money to justify this change.

Still doesn't answer why this non-problem was even on the table to begin with. Pardon the very rude metaphor, It's like changing a lipstick brand in a declining brothel where workers are clearly aged and not in the right shape to work. Maybe the lipstick is not even a problem worth spending your time on.

He was simply asked a question about the console getting "more love" and that rant was his response. He might have well have just said "fuck xbox console".
