Xbox One and 360 lead all platforms in E3 award nominations

donmattrick.gif

Titalfall deserved it. Best game of the show. Really the only reason I've haven't completed written of the Xbox One.

But the Xbox One getting all of those nominations? That's a bit of surprise.

Counts multiplatforms for the system too. That's why. Titan Fall killed it, that plus the multiplat nomination = 34 Xbox One games nominated, just edging past the PS4's 33.

The Publisher breakdowns are interesting to note to:

Sony published games - 10 nominations
Microsoft published games - 3 nominations.

Did they show something behind closed doors that was jaw dropping for titanfall??? The e3 trailer looked like ps360 shooter action??

I'm not saying it looked bad or not fun , but it kinda just looked like one of many sci fi shooter wheeled out for the show, and it wasn't the prettiest (KZ), the biggest (Destiny), most compelling ( Division) etc.

Its nice to see west and zamp get their comeuppance though.

The trailer isn't actually good. The gameplay is much better. I personally thought it was meh, but can see why other people would find it good.

Also, I believe they actually had proper matches going on behind closed doors.

It's a lot on good faith I think. Those guys know how to make a really responsive, accessible shooter, it's not so abstract like Destiny. Who really even knows what that game is? TitanFall doesn't look like a concept, it looks like a game I can imagine playing, and it playing very well.

Titles like Killer Instinct, D4, Crimson Dragon, Forza 5, Below, and Quantum Break say you're full of shit - to name a few. Take off the blinders yo.

Only ones that look truly interesting are D4, Crimson Dragon and Quantom Break. Killer Instinct is going to bomb. That game is running on Nostalgia. And it was never a good fighting game to begin with. Also, isn't the team making it have no fighting game experience either? And Forza? Another retread that's being rushed to market yet again? I wish Microsoft would spend more time on these things. Plus Turn 10 is a douchey company.

Blinders are already gone. Cat destroyed them.

A lot of people have been saying that, I don't see it, TitanFall looks rad, but that's about it for me.

Not that Sony's much better, all they really have that I care about is InFamous, FFXIV and The Witness.

They both really need to step it up, third parties are looking to define the launch for both of them.

FFXIV? =p

TitanFall and FFXV will be on the Xbox One and I'm sure eventually The Witness will be. TitanFall will I'm s sure eventually come to the PS4 but having that as a timed exclusive is pretty impressive. So really as far as first party goes though, you're only really interested in InFamous from Sony. I think more people have more interest in Microsoft's first party overall than Sony's first party. And yes, I'm sure they both could step it up. Perhaps we will hear more from both at Gamescon.

Yes I have. It bored me more than Tom Goes To The Mayor.

Don't worry. If they're too creative or fun, Microsoft will just gut them into a skeleton crew and have them make Xbox Live Avatars. I fear for Insomniac.

Don't talk about games on other systems. It's not fair for Microsoft and their billion darru budget.

For people who only want that shoot bang wang shootan machine.

I've actually seen hicks at stores sign up for that bullshit deal MS goes for which makes me wonder why they haven't subsidized again this time.

Warning. Story is CANON.

I was at a best buy and saw some guy say 'Damn, I want a system with some shooters. Huh? Xbox 360? 99 dollars with contract? Hot damn, I'm gonna get me some of that."

I'm still shocked that Microsoft hasn't released a subsidized price with the XBoneR+. Oh well. Hopefully they continue to make new ips instead of retreads past the three year mark.

Here's how Microsoft got all those nominations.

Clearly you're just hear to troll....

Edit: Wow in the time it took me to quote these comments you managed to type up another negative post.

I guess it is this:
http://www.gamersyde.com/stream_ryse_sons_of_rome_e3_gameplay-30228_en.html

It doesn't look like QTE to me - more like it gives you a hint what button to push for the kill move. It's not like a QTE where if you don't push the button within a few seconds you auto-die.

I'm hoping it's more than just batman style fighting though.

Over an interview (can't remember where, there were so many back at E3), they stated that Ryse button clue is a hint to finalize your opponent, not a mandatory QTE that might kill you, and also they are aiming at Batman fighting mechanics, so you are at good hope :)

This isn't true man QTE's allude to a system that allows for failure.

Rize does not allow for failure, if you press the wrong button or even don't press anything at all, you are still awarded with the dramatic kills

You clearly didn't played it and is talking from Kotaku's ass

Se how many times the button clue appears and it didn't came with dramatic kills

If you push no button, you still do the move. The devs said they don't want player to lose because they'd feel sad and losing isn't win (transcribed, but they really said this).

And button promt = press to do stuff = QTE

@the other guy.
It's a QTE fest. Watch the footage for once? And what has Ryze to do with Xbone bashing?

No idea, but their behind closed doors demo was raw gameplay with 16 players I think. They didn't have god mode, etc on to show it off, the guy demoing it died, etc which is rare for an e3 behind doors demo. Let the press see the game for real not in a "bioshock infinite" demo sense.

I can imagine playing it. On PC. Maybe with the Oculus Rift now that the Source SDK added Rift support...

Fuck that. If Microsoft gave me some kash monies, I'd be spouting their bullshit so high that I'd make a mountain of shit if they gave me that krazy money. I'd be saying shit like DRM is helping the industry, being weaker makes one stronger by making one endure, America is the greatest, what's Japan, I'd say whatever the fuck they'd want if they gave me a taste of the sweet life.

KI was a great game back then and will be a great game. It has got good feedback. Forza horizon was not done by turn 10 and was a spinoff. Kind of a arcade style game. DR3 looks great as well.

Besides Ryse, some of the other Xbox games do actually look decent. Dead Rising is probably the most interesting, just hope it doesn't end up as a generic zombie fest. I don't want a dumbed down but more polished State of Decay.

With that said, Infamous so far blows anything out of the water. So much that I really wish they had made it a launch title.

Lol @ fucking Ryse winning anything.

Watch movie -> walk in a straight line -> watch movie -> quick time event -> walk in a straight line -> do some basic combat with quick time finishers -> watch movie -> walk forward a bit -> watch movie...

It may end up being a great game, but that demo made it look worse than Modern Warfare 3 when it comes to interactivity and player agency.

“Forza Motorsport 5” earned 24 nominations and 8 wins
“Dead Rising 3” earned 17 nominations and 7 wins
“Project Spark” earned 13 nominations and 4 wins
“Ryse: Son of Rome” earned 11 nominations and 2 wins

Forza 5 is good, as always.
Dead Rising 3 is no more Dead Rising (bombardment !?!?).
Project spark is awesome ... but it's a tool.
Ryse it's not a bunch of qte ... but better wait some news ...

Anyway it's pretty early have a real and more complete opinion of those games, but I don't really see anything special in those game.

Titanfall is another story. I like it, but really overhyped.

Killer Instinct is a free to play game, it won't bomb. Apparently Double Helix hired a lot of people with fighting game experience last I heard, it's being made by some legit people is what I remember reading.

Yeah... Killer Instinct, a legendary title from the 90s handed over to SH Homecoming's studio while the actual developers are too busy making "sports" games. Crimson Dragon another great title from the 90s reduced as a showcase the kinect and Remedy paid to resort to a more bang bang game since the xbox crowd didn't want to go through the torture of reading in Alan Wake.

Great contributions to gaming.

Xbox had a great showing at E3 to bad people always trying to spin everything Xbox to be something negative it really gets old as fuck. All the people that are hating on RYSE because of the QTE's the devs said that they are only for a execution and are not a main part of the game. So there goes that argument. Stop hating on Xbox because it's the cool thing to do and enjoy gaming.

Lol Titan fall may end up being fun but it is way overhyped by the press. It's also a timed exclusive so even if it turns out great, it doesn't help microsofts portfolio that much.

Too bad Sony saved some of their exclusives for gamescon/tgs. I feel e3 plays a bigger impact but then again pre orders are getting sold out so its not that important.

The team working on Killer Instinct is basically completetly different from the one making their previous work. They have people with fighting game knowledge, and experience ranging from Street Fighter 2 and skullgirls.

It got a ton of positive feedback and looks great. It's the main title for the XB1 I'm interested in.

Also Crimson Dragon has complete controller support. But I doubt you care.

It is tragic that the Mods closed the Satisfaction threads. The Xbox One OT was the only place you could go to on Neogaf where you could be reasonably sure to find some positive impressions of the console.

Xbox had the best show games-wise.

Not surprising.

They were one huge DRM debacle, an expensive price, and a mandatory Kinect away from winning E3.

How did they have the best show? I guess if you're counting only the playable AAA titles and leaving out indie stuff. Shit like Octodad and Conduit seemed way more interesting than any of the 60 dollar games.

If I was going to say something positive, that would be back in 2007-2008. I've owned both the original Xbox, and the 360. I've played a lot of Microsoft's games like Flight Simulator, Train Simulator, Pandora's box, and their other games. You know, when they had actual game developers. If anything, I'm pissed off that they basically destroyed EVERY ONE of their pc game studios, replaced it with companies that make the same shit over and over again, then essentially gutted anything that could have been good into something that is mundane. They very clearly never focus on the gamer after an initial push once they rope them in. They tried to do some of the most ass backwards shit the industry has ever seen, and yet they still have supporters who think that third party games are exclusives.

No, what really chaps my ass is how right now if anyone talks about the lack of variety on their show with the big mainstays like Forza 5, Halo 4, with very little that's truly weird or quirky. They turned Rare to shit, and they may end up turning Insomniac to shit. They axed Microsoft Game Studios on the PC, and they won't make fucking Pandoras Box work on Windows 7.

So am I pissed? Maybe. Am I just shaking my head at their focus? Most likely. I'd just like to see them at least toss a bone and revive Flight Simulator on One or put Pandora's box on live. Something where they had those cool brain teasers and lower stress games they had in the past.

Oh well. Misguided passion and so forth.

It has a normal version and a f2p version that gives you ONE FUCKING CHARACTER to use in all modes. That is below f2p standards, hell that is even below being called a "demo".

As a most-of-the-time-non-mainstream gamer I found Project Spark intriguing and that bright zombie shooter mildly interesting. For Sony Infamous looked impressive and some of the Indie games were promising. In the end, neither xbone exclusives nor Sony exclusives are really all that good imo. 3rd party dominated both easily - the awards also reflect that.

The fact Ryse won a damn thing is vomit inducing.

Have you played it? I have and it was a pretty impressive game. Yes, it has some issues, but overall I was very impressed by the game and some of the additional stuff they showed behind closed doors.

I love how PS4 fans keep saying or hoping that Titanfall is a timed exclusive as if it is a fact. Keep the dream alive.
