Xbox One and PS4 Launch Editions both sold out on Amazon

Oddly, or maybe telling, the PS4 Launch Edition still sits at the #3 spot on their 2013 list even tho it sold out in a day. The XBO Day One Edition is at #6.

We know that there are more PS4 ready at launch then Xbox One.

Actually they've had launch day PS4 bundles up until recently (yesterday?). Looks like those are gone now.

Yeah I checked and made sure to update the OP to reflect that.

Well then, maybe people can shut up about preorder numbers and "The Xbox one is Doomed"

I think it will be just fine. doesn't matter if the PS4 preorders sold quicker or not, its the same amount of sales in the end at launch.

Uh, not if production numbers have anything to say about it. It's totally feasable that Sony had more consoles available for launch day preorders than Microsoft. That's what most of the anecdotal evidence for store preorders points to.

Even if they both sold out one would sell more than the other unless Microsoft magically fixed all their production problems and are now shipping as many Xbox Ones as Sony is PS4s for launch.

I never got the upgrade to release day delivery, yet I pre-ordered my PS4 within seconds of it being live on Amazon. I wonder if amazon prime members got in front the regular ones.

I pre-ordered a killzone launch bundle also. Will be cancelling one of them once I get a release day confirm on the other.

I agree with the premise of your post, but you're wrong about the amount of sales at launch being the same. It's pretty clear that there'll be more PS4s on the market this year than XBOs. The PS4 being three spots higher on Amazon's 2013 best sellers list kind of confirms that there's a somewhat significant gap in how many of each were sold. Also, we've heard from a number of people on here that GameStop stores were looking at around 3x more PS4s than XBOs in their pre-order launch day stock.

How do you figure? Who says Sony and Microsoft are mass producing the same amount of consoles?

Dat yield issue

It's not just related the yield issue, based on what you can infer from that info.

Looking at Both Launch Edition, Non-Bundled Consoles:

PS4 Alotment = IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII Sold Out on 6/10/13
XBO Alotment = IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII Sold Out Yesterday

We know PS4 alotment is higher becaust according to their 2013 best selling chart, PS4 was preordered more.

That is why that info is telling. It shows high PS4 Demand.

EDIT: Not to mention that the PS4 standard and launch day bundles were also available for preorder and sit in the top one hundred for 2013 aswell.

Again, I don't believe he is saying that. The sentence is somewhat confusing but what he means is that it doesn't matter how fast PS4 pre-orders sold out since in the end they only had a set number.

He means that no matter if they sold out in minutes or months, it is still the same number of PS4s being sold. He is not saying the same number of PS4s and XBOs will be sold on that day (at least I hope he isn't).

Well given what everyone is assuming that there are more PS4s available then yea that only leaves that as the conclusion.

Only time will tell with supply, but I don't think demand wont be there.

I have both pre-ordered! This is going to be an expensive fall. Can't wait!
I'm even saving up my vacation time for this so hopefully they land close to each other.

You make less and less sense the more I read your posts.

B-b-but the Xbox one is a piece of crap that no one is going to buy.....

You obviously haven't been paying attention then...

Even the die-hard Sony fanboys said the Xbone would still sell out at launch. Gj though.

No it absolutely is not. It all depends on how many units both Sony and Microsoft allocated to retailers, which could be completely different.

What we can take away here is that despite what GAF thinks, both of these consoles will be completely fine. We all win.

Completely unsurprising. This is going to be another pretty close generation when it comes to sales, although I expect Sony to be the market leader.

The real contest begins around 2015/2016, when console warriors are no longer dictating sales, and the casual gamer is the major deciding factor.

Yep.

I think I'm going to go with the Xbox One. More launch games that appeal to me. I'm starting to get excited.
