Xbox One and Windows 10 May Preview Update

Does anyone on Win 8.1 get an error when you try and add the Xbox One as a wireless display that says after trying to connect for a while "That didn't work - Try again and make sure that your entertainment device is still discoverable". I've tried it a few times now and always get that error :( Not sure if I need to disable/enable anything in Xbox settings...

I can't connect to my xbox via miracast. Smartglass app won't work either. I'm on the same network. I did a few hard resets on the xbox, router, modem, pc as well. It used to work fine too. Any suggestions kind xbox folk?

edit.---Hooked up my xbox via ethernet, and now smarglass works via phone and pc. But I still can't figure out how to get my pc (windows 10 latest update) to find my xbox. I hit windows p, and it just shows my monitor, and keeps searching. I used to think I was a computer/technology wizard. After this, I walk with my head down in shame and disgust.

edit2-- I can't use this regardless, because my garbage computer doesn't have wi-fi direct. Looks like I'm dragging this huge gross pc back to the living room to watch the hockey game tonight. I can't win.

Thanks. Problem is I have Windows 10 ( no charms). I figured out that you have to press Window Key + P to add Wireless Display.

Xbox doesn't show up when I search for it with Window Key + P. Might be a Windows 10 problem.

Can I ask whether the app help is of any use to you? While in the Wireless Display app, press the menu (hamburger) button on the controller and choose Help. Win 10 instructions are there but I suspect people just aren't finding it.

I have a GTX 570, is it possbile to use miracast? Do I need to dowload a driver?
I tried going to devices > project, but there's no option to add wirless display! =(

Tried with Nexus 5 and worked like a charm though!

I didn't use the app help menu. I just searched online and found how to get to media connect. It still is not working. It can not find my Xbox but my tubecast app can connect to my Xbox no problem.

Tubecast is playing using play to not Miracast

Miracast needs wifi direct and a driver that supports it... A lot of computers dont

Also build 10061 of windows 10 worked fine while the newest one broke it on my computer

Ok, 10061 didn't work for me and 10074 isn't working either. I am sure it will get sorted out after a update or two.

Just a heads up for anyone using an HTC Android device, use the "Media output" app found in the settings menu and it should work.

Where did you get that message? I've got a 980M so maybe I'm having the same problem.

You have to open the Run window and then type dxdiag.

You'll open the DirectX Diagnostic Tool and there you have to click the "Save All Information" button.

In the text file you can search for Miracast and it shows whether it is supported or not.

Miracast: Supported

Obviously not that then... :/

Wait - I can use my Xbox One/TV Setup as wireless monitor for my PC and thus can play PC games on my TV?

edit: if so - can I somehow use the One controller for that?

Regarding Windows 10 Achievements, will PC games have the same achievements that the Xbox One games have or is Windows 10 Achievements just for system level stuff and not games?

I don't think they've had a cross-platform title with achievements before, but I imagine that if it offers cross saves, it'd offer cross platform achievements.

So say for the new Batman Arkham Knight game, if playing that on Windows 10 would that game have achievements?. Im just wondering if MS are savvy enough to add achievment database to windows 10 itself, so if your playing a PC thats out on the 360 or XB1 then they share the same achievements and you'll get achievement just as if your were playing the XB1 pr 360 version of said game...that would be awesome!!

From my experience there is far too much latency (think one second) for interactive applications.

Project Spark is cross platform and each platform has its own set of achievements.
