Just got a ONE and can't set the language to English/Switzerland. Who in their right mind thought this was a good idea? I hope they "fix" this with the Win10 update!
I saw there was a rumor at last week report it will change after W10 update, who knows.
Isn't English like a requirement for the education system in the majority of EU countries due to the politic and economic impacts of the UK?
I don't see why they would restrict languages for a region.
It makes no sense.
People move a lot, and might not want to be locked into that region language or prefer another one instead.

The stupid xbox website thinks I'm from Switzerland or Sweden because I accessed it from there once on a new phone when I was abroad. Even when I set en-GB in the URL it switches to sv-SE and tries to show me prices in Kr. I suspect it has set a cookie on my phone. Is there any way to find and delete just the offending cookie on an android phone?
The Xbox One language system is terrible in Belgium. Belgium is divided in a Dutch speaking part (which respresents the majority of the country) and a French speaking one. Even if you select 'Dutch' as your language, all achievements show up in French. I know it's not a major problem, but it bothers me significantly.
It's been like this since release now. They obviously don't care.

You can select your default locale here : http://www.xbox.com/Shell/ChangeLocale
This has to be the most frustrating thing about the Xbox.
I'm an American living in spain. I want my region to be spain. Sure no problem but why can't I fucking choose my language to be English?
Easily the most frustrating thing I can remember on a console and there is absolutely no word from Microsoft if it will ever change.
I have mine set to the USA. Thing is if I want to use the one guide I need to be in spain. It's baffling to me that even 2016 this is still an issue for the XBone OS. Got my country set to a country/language from the other side of the planet due to this.
Quoting pages from this, but don't worry, they won't do this. There's to much buying/selling IP's from the central organisations which hold them. You often get large pools of IPs moving countries with a large delay in geo caching DB's.I do this, but I'm becoming more and more paranoid that MS will start IP blocking / banning non-US people.
How is this even possible? Microsoft is one of the most internationally prevalent companies, they must have guidelines for this stuff. It's baffling to me that even 2016 this is still an issue for the XBone OS. Got my country set to a country/language from the other side of the planet due to this.
Which is why all of us are completely baffled by this. How is this even possible? Microsoft is one of the most internationally prevalent companies, they must have guidelines for this stuff.
I have no issues with the region lock and languages I have a Canadian console and a UK console, now living in UK before France, Canada, Italy, Romania and never got issues.
Some games offer multiples languages options and you simply have to put the language of the console in the language that you want (if not available in the menu of the game)
If the game does not allow and you buy digital, you have all the languages in digital and for X360 games from the marketplace that you dl the game you will have the language of it simply. Not perfect but did not have any issues so far.
Don't know how bad it currently it is ( I no longer check the achievements on the console).I've got my console set to UK for language purposes although I'm in Switzerland, one unwanted effect is that achievements for some games appear in German in the Xbox app.

My computer is set to UK region, Store to UK, console to UK, but no, I get to enjoy the German achievement titles.
Those shots were taken on the old dashboard before the NXOE update went live.Strange you do not have the new dashboard but the old one, is your console updated?
I don't think you understand the issue.
Certain regions only allow you to choose one language. For example, if your region is spain you can not change your language to English. There are no options in game to change to English.
So if someone wants to play a game in English, and they live in Spain, they can't unless they set their region to some other country that has English available. We aren't complaining about region locks, we are complaining that certain languages are locked to regions

In the Netherlands achievements appear both in English and Dutch at random.
Ah yes I see, this can be for sure a problem in some countries with multiples languages if not all are here.
But in the case of an English speaking person in Spain, it's easy: you simply switch to Uk English for example the game will go in English as wanted, its not the best but its working Im doing this for Halo for example I switch the region that I need regarding the language and mostly I stay in English for the voices actors. If I switch back to French -> France for example my Halo game come back to French as wanted.
