Xbox One latest dashboard fixes the controller's deadzones

So starting with preview build 1026, it will prompt you to download a controller firmware update, which removes most or all of the deadzone that has been there since the launch of the system. I've tried different games like Black Ops, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Fallout 4, GTA V, Red Dead Redemption, the deadzones have been toned down significantly (or removed completely). I've also confirmed this isn't placebo with Caayn.

Those who have a PS4 as well and have been bothered by the Xbox One's deadzones when switching between the two consoles should give it a try if they have access to preview dashboard. If not, don't fret because the public release is near, it will have to release this month.

Also, I'd like to apologize to footlocksean who mentioned this improvement in the other thread but I said it was just placebo.
Since the update, which I agree, has sped up the x1 considerably, I noticed my input lag has reduced considerably, resulting in more kills when playing GOW4. Anyone else notice quicker response times in games?

Can anyone confirm if this makes Halo 5 feel more like H5 PC with a controller? For some reason H5PC felt better but I couldn't figure out why

I wonder if this will throw off my game for a bit while getting used to it.

Yeah, I'm somewhat worried that I'm not going to be able to aim for shit now. Three years in feels like too late to fix this issue, when presumably everyone has gotten used to the feel by now?

I wonder if this will make stick drift worse for my launch controller. It should be great for throttle controls on Forza if it applies to the triggers.

Pretty sure you can manually adjust the "dead zones" for the triggers if you go to settings and then "ease of access." The same way you remap buttons on a non-elite controller.

I'll have to recheck once my console is done updating. Edit: Nope! Just button remapping for normies

The only time I've noticed what I thought was a dead zone issue was with Rise of the Tomb Raider, but I just got used to it. Gonna have to see how it feels now.

edit:
No difference in Rise of the Tomb Raider. I guess it really is lag, and not a dead zone thing. I'm running OS version 10.0.14393.2113 now [oh, wrong number, (rs1_xbox_rel_1610.161027-1900) fre] I wasn't prompted for a controller update, I guess since I'm using an OG console and old controllers.

I'm gonna test out RDR, that's great news if so!

I've had an Xbox One since launch.... can someone tell me what the deadzone issue is/was
The deadzone has been a bit larger on Xbox One than Xbox 360 and PS4. Most people would adjust normally, but those with multiple consoles and jumping between them on a regular basis would have more difficulty.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm is this an objectively good thing?
Yes, aside from having to readjust. It's not a massive difference, but it's there.

Maybe you're both crazy?
Well, you could check it yourself as well and see if you notice any difference.

Will they also update responsiveness with a PC? Even when adjusting the sticks in the app, the controller isn't as responsive as a DS4.

I know, just look at my avatar.

Feel free to try it for yourself. I'm currently running OS version 1610.161027-1900. I didn't notice any deathzone in H5 and BO3. Edit: I do seem to have a very slight deadzone in GoW4 multiplayer.

is this already live, or it is just on the preview program?

because i started using sensibility at 30 on Gears 4 and i always being shit at that sensibility bot yesterday it felt really good

Just updated my xbox and no controller update available here either.
I think I'm on 1027.

Controller firmware 2.3.2381.0

That's the dash I'm on.
Did you manually update the controller?

Um, so does that mean the stick drift on half my controllers will fuck with my menus? When I play Siege and lower the deadzone, on some controllers my crosshair constantly drifts.

They have your money. They are done with you.

Time to ring in the rest.

Rhis would be interesting to know but I definitely agree with you on the difference being noticeable

This next update is sounding quite sexy between this and the OS speed improvements.

And clubs and LFG.
This is quite handy also. :P

Looking forward to this update coming through. The sticks on the One controller has always been finicky to me and I love my One S controller so this should be icing on the cake.

My new Bluetooth Xbox One controller updated to 3.1.1221.0 but my two older launch model controllers won't update above 2.3.2381.0.

Two different firmwares based on model controllers then?

Yup, this most recent controller update referenced is only for the newer Bluetooth controllers.

Rise of the the Tomb Raider was terrible in this respect.

I'm not sure what was going on with the controls in that game but they just felt like crap. It's weird because the game was otherwise pretty good.

Tomb Raider just has terrible input lag, it's really a shame. the Xbox 360 version did not have it, the PS4 version did have the issue at launch but they fixed it in a patch
