Xbox One or PS4: Which should I buy?!?

I will go on a different route. Save that money for baby supplies or the kids college.

or ps4 just to continue your destiny hero? or next nintendo console.

or, play an FPS.

if you only knew who you were talking to. I'm a clean freak and I've had 5 triggers crap out on me. Switched to X1 as my primary platform after that.

I really have no clue what you're doing with your controllers.

Then again, i've never, ever had a controller break on me.
SNES, PSX, PS2, XB360, PS3, PS4, all working like the day they came out of the packaging. My PS4 controller is in use every single day with zero issues.

I'd say you're beyond unlucky if you actually have five DS4's crap out on you. But i'd get sick of it too if it were me.

Everyone talks about big name exclusives, but forgets about lesser known ones like Disgaea 5, Tales of Zestiria, Neptunia V-II or Persona 5. Uncharted 4 isn't the only exclusive PS4 has, the others just get ignored. But if you're like me and live by what console gets the Japanese games, PS4 is the only choice between the 2.
It also gets a lot more download-only games, which are important yet ignored.

If you need your Halo/Gears fix = xbox
More streaming media apps = xbox

If you want the best of non-nintendo Japanese gaming = ps4
The most varied selection of indies = ps4
The best of 3rd parties = ps4
Naughty Dog fanboi = ps4
VR early adaptor? = ps4

If you're still on the fence wait another month until PSX and see if sony's announcements there tip you in favor (or not).

Using scout rifles or hand cannons in Destiny will do it.

There's a little spring inside those triggers, and it's really easy for it to slip out of place. After that happens, the trigger sticks, which is to say it doesn't spring back up into position after you depress it.

Sure, you can open up your controller but it's not an easy fix by any means.

The frustration was enough for me to cancel all my PS4 preorders and order those games on PC or X1 instead.

You said that you prefer single player. Playstation exclusives are far more tailored for single player than Microsoft's exclusives. I think you would prefer the PS4 more.

Xbone with an ir cable plus all the streaming aps is a pretty awesome media center. Tons of network streaming aps that the ps4 doesn't have. And it's nice to turn on and off all at once your Xbone, cable box, TV, and sound system. Ps4 can't do that.

Can't..I can only get a PS4 for 250 this week.

I think I'm going to go PS4. Plus, I do like that classic PS controller :D

If you like Japanese games then PS4 is a no brainier. Also Sony consoles are known to have some of the best single player exclusives.

And don't listen to people about the build quality of the controller. I still have my launch controller and it's still perfectly fine.

I got a PS4 because of all the Japanese games that are coming, plus some indies I'm interested in. No regrets on that purchase, but I'm waiting to see what the NX will be.

I guess it really takes seeing it to believe it, because I didn't have an issue in the 8 months that I did have the system (with rigorous Advanced Warfare playing, as well).

Is it the trigger that messes up?
I've had 3 controllers be damaged now with normal usage.
No problems on my xb1 or wiiu, the build quality is pretty terrible

I honestly feel that the Xbox One has had the better exclusives in these first two years, the only big one it's missing for me is Bloodborne. However I find the PS4 to be a better game playing machine overall due to things such as how quickly it updates, its indie game library, and the interface. I'm happy to own both, but if it were only one I'd say the PS4.

I'm on this standpoint, and I'll be getting a PS4 for the following reasons:

- Never had a PS3. So all the remastered (god of war, last of us, etc) are new. And uncharted is all new, so the triple collection is a great bundle
- Exclusive games are better for me. Will I miss Halo? Maybe. But I like some Japanese games more (One Piece, upcoming digimon, tales of zestiria, etc). So it makes more sense here
- Upgradable HD. I can buy the 500gb and a hard drive to get 2TB immediately. Big bonus

I think YMMV regarding the controller. Considering how some people have issues while others have none at all. It's probably fine for most, but you may get unlucky and get one that breaks easily.

Mine are still fine, though I don't have nearly as much gaming time as many other gaffers. I did get the platinum for OlliOlli 2 though without them breaking down, which is impressive considering how much you have to abuse the controller when playing that excellent game.

From the sounds of it, it seems like you could literally just flip a coin, then find the best deal for whichever console the coin decides.

As an aside, Xbox One has Sling TV which is for cable cutters, that might interest you. I'm not sure how it stacks up against PlayStation Vue, but it's worth looking into.

Nintendo fan = Loves Japanese Made Games

Sony has Japanese made games, MS doesn't so much.

Pretty much the way I see it.

Nintendo fan = Loves Nintendo games..

Sony doesn't make anything comparable; random games made by people from the same region does not make them at all comparable to what Nintendo offers.

Man, this is a tough one. Usually I feel like I have something to form an opinion around but OP says graphics dont matter, UI doesnt matter, and multiplayer doesnt matter.
So I think the last category is exclusives, right? OP likes exclusives on both sides and doesnt feel strongly about anything like Halo.

I dont fucking know man it seems like either would work out okay for you. I guess you liked Uncharted on PS3 so if you want more from those guys I guess you should go Sony.

I own both and my personal preference is PS4 for the reasons you specified you dont care about. Especially the smoother UI. I get really annoyed on the bone waiting forever just to accomplish simple tasks, thing likes to take its time.

PS4

PlayStation has always been better than Xbox when it comes to single player games while Xbox has been better than PlayStation at multiplayer games. The fact that you only really play single player games makes it a no brainer plus if you like japanese games that is basically the cherry on top.

They are both great. Right now I use the xbox one more than the ps4. One feature I like is the hdmi passthrough. I like the console exclusives like Ryse, Rare Replay(Snapshots are a nice challenge), all of the Forza's are fun, Dead rising 3 while not as good as the other 2 is also fun, the multiplatform games run pretty good just a a slightly lower resolution. BC is just starting but in a few months it'll hopefully bring some great games from last gen that I haven't finished yet

Ps4 is good too, the controller is the best sony has done yet. Driveclub looks great and plays good, bloodbourne is very challenging but fun, Second son is very pretty and is a decent addition to the infamous franchise. It has great Japanese support and indies have a lot of titles on the console.

Go PS4 for Bloodborne. Destroys everything on both consoles exclusives wise. Xbox one has some decent exclusives like FH2 and if you are a racing fan then you should go for it.

Sunset Overdrive is a very flawed game and not worth buying a console for it though.

PS4. Get Journey, Bloodborne, Until Dawn, and try out Rocket League if you want. Destiny is easier to find people to play with on PS4, especially in the Neogaf community thread where it seems like 80% are on PS4.

Edit: have you played TLoU yet? If not may as well grab that too you can get it for probably $15 digitally I'm sure.

Edit again: And next year is Uncharted 4 + The Last Guardian...and The Witness and No Mans Sky and Ratchet n Clank and Horizon Zero Dawn and...there's so so much. It's going to be pretty crazy.

You'll be happy regardless what you choose, unless you enter Digital Founfry threads. Then anything you buy is bad. Stay awaaaaaaay. 250 is a good price though. With the baby you aint got time to play anyway. Controllers are chewing toys. Wires? chewing toys. Or to be pulled on until new ones you buy replace them.

I have both systems. I'd recommend a Ps4 based on your priorities.

While MS really is going to town with exclusive games this gen, a lot of them have strong multiplayer components and you prefer single player games.

Like you said, just get an Xbox One next year black Friday after Quantum Break, Scalebound and Gears 4 has released.
