Xbox One - Walk into a store and pick it up?

Went to pick up some items at Walmart. Plenty of PS4 consoles in stock nearby, no Xbox One.

I have a hard time believing this, considering the (relatively limited, and anecdotal) evidence I've seen so far. I know there's enough people on NeoGAF still looking for one that if you were willing to give a zip code to where this magical 'in stock' Walmart is, you'd make a lot of people happy.

Why is it surprising? This thing is almost at ps3 levels of pricing.

PS3 was still pretty hard to find immediately after launch (though store allocations were very low). Wasn't until after holiday sales where you could find them readily available on shelves.

Since Black Friday is just around the corner I'm sure a lot of stores are holding some stock for next week. I'm guessing current supplies will dry up this weekend, then after BF it'll be slim pickings.

This thing will definitely sell, but probably not as immediately as PS2, Wii or PS4.

Do we really need to resurrect those images with piles of PS3's in response to Jack Tretton's offer if anyone found one at launch?

Why would stores hold stock for black friday it makes no sense. Stores want to sell it asap, there is nothing to be gained by holding some secret xbone stock in the back room for black friday.

Walked into Target out in Jersey to get Zelda.

One PS4 left, ghost town on XBO! The place looked like it got ransacked or hit by a tornado.

Got my copy of ALBW and 3D World (preparing myself, as I don't have a Wii U yet!). I am ready!

Still some here in London, ON.

London?

Whe....

Wait, London, Ontario?

every store around here (Palm Bay, FL) is holding all PS4 stock till black friday

Just walked into Toys R Us Time Square on my lunch break and picked one up without a problem. They have a ton in stock and kept bringing fresh boxes out of the back, stock doesn't seem to be a problem at the moment.

That was in February 2007, well after launch. So no, you don't need to resurrect the images.

Same reason stores are probably holding a lot of PS4 stock for Black Friday. They're going to sell regardless, might as well get people in your store buying other things too.

To be fair, the Walmart near me has some PS4s but aren't selling them. They are in the glass case covered with some paper, but you can still read them. Clerk said they were pre-orders, but more likely they are hoarding them for Black Friday.

Yeah target's got good supply, almost every store in Brooklyn has some in stock. With the lower allocations than the PS4 I expected them to be sold out.

Went into my local Best Buy to pick up an eshop card. There were none on the floor but I asked and the store associate said they have 2 in the back. They didn't really get a large shipment.

I forgot about Black Friday holdbacks. Those really suck if you want a system, but don't want to get trampled while buying one.

Hopefully, both Xbox One and PS4 sell well this holiday (and keep selling well into the new year). Bigger install bases mean that we can get away from cross gen multiplats much faster.

They put it in their ad, which draws people to their store. Maybe they will buy other things while they are there like Doritos and Underarmor.

I saw a guy walking out of a best buy with a day one edition at lunch. They had some regular editions as well behind the desk and an absolute ass load of controllers which was surprising this late in the day (this was around noon). On ps4 launch day you couldn't find a single controller after midnight anywhere, let alone a console.

Edit: 43240

Would you guys mind posting zip codes/cities when saying there is stock for PS4/XB1? Even though lots of stores have them going by the anecdotal evidence in this thread not everybody does.

I'm in a smaller town for the time being so no stock by me. We usually get smaller shipments and it looks like demand outstripped them. Or its just black Friday BS.

My brother got a PS4 and is thinking of getting an XB1 if he comes across one.

Sunnyvale, CA Toys R Us had PS4s this morning about an hour ago.

Yes there is. It is a hot item. You will get people in the store on Black Friday and they will buy a lot of stuff.

Anecdotally, the store I work at received 42 Xbox Ones at launch, vs. 27 PS4s for its launch.

I'm wondering if MS didn't target more big box stores with allocations and less gamestops.

Who knows, tea leaf reading based on anecdotal evidence is a bit silly.

If MS is getting crushed after Titanfall, they'll have to do something.

That's meaningless. If they have preorders, they'll be put aside and it'll show up as in stock.

When I went to pick up my PS4 pre-order the morning after the midnight launch, I was told they had to turn away an additional 40 people who pre-ordered out of the 200 that in line that night.
I still haven't been able to pick one up.

Launches are always big, even the Dreamcast was impossible to find in store the first week.

$500 price tag will be a killer for people.

My closest Target had a few Xb1 for sale today. They also had 2 Ps4s in stock but said they were preorders and that if they were not picked up by end of day today they would be for sale tomorrow morning when they open.

what Walmart, specifically? This would be helpful for peeps searching for a PS4.

ETA: perhaps, restocks? Many stores said they would have more in stock this week, tho some are holding it for Black Friday.

In Hampton Roads, VA(Norfolk/Newport News/Virginia Beach, etc.) there are 8 Target stores with XB1s in stock and every Walmart but 2 have them in stock also. There are also a bunch more in Williamsburg and Richmond with available stock.

I would expect most at this point based on my past experiences (Target) to be holding them for black friday at this point. We used to hold Wii's for like 3+ weeks.

I was in Target today getting a 3DS and I saw one guy walking out with an Xbone as I came in and when I got to the electronics section they were selling the last 4 xbones to one person.

The same reason they'll take a loss on a new album by a popular artist.

To get you into the store to buy something else.

Yup. My local Walmart "guaranteed" me that there would be PS4s in stock for Black Friday....which means they're sitting on a pallet in the back.

Neither system is in stock at the Best Buy in Mount Laurel, NJ, so local gaffers, don't waste a trip today.

The title really should be updated to let people know not to trust Targets online store stock indicator.

Most stores near me show stock, yet a call to these stores indicates they have none for sale. Not sure if its unclaimed preorders showing up as stock or just a delayed/messed up system.

Target's system has a slight delay. It's not instant. If I had to guess it's at least an hour.

Despite the website showing them in stock at my local target, when I picked up Forza 5 from that store earlier the guys in electronics said all of the stock of XB1s they received were for preorders and they still had a bunch waiting to be picked up. Maybe since they haven't been picked up and they're still physically in inventory they show up as in stock on their site.

Anecdotal story time, saw one woman buying a Day One edition, 2 people asking if they had any XB1s and 1 guy asking if they had any PS4s.

There are 20 Targets within 70 miles of me (that seems like a lot), and half of them show Xbox One in stock.

Searched on Playstation 4, and 0/20 show stock. Either MS shipped a fuckton, or they're in some deep doo-doo.

This could be the worst launch of all time. The initial intentions and reveal destroyed it.

Let's not let hyperbole blind intelligence.
