We had tons of reports from people working at retail confirming that PS4 demand is indeed higher.
Ebay prices also confirm that, with XBO lower than PS4 compared to its retail price.
So do the first sales numbers and even recent software sales numbers in the UK. Stocks are also on the same page :

Basically, PS4 is on top everywhere worldwide, there's hardly any doubt left at this point.
I don't think anyone is debating that PS4 has more demand, nor am I. I say I don't think you work in retail, or have much of an idea of it, because of everything else in your post.
"Yeah, it's simple really. PS4 is sold out because demand is high, XBO is on shelves because it doesn't sell that well now that the first weeks are over."
The first part of your sentence is 100% true, but the second part...not so much. It isn't on shelves "simply" because it doesn't sell well, on the contrary, I sell through the stock regularly, it's just that the SUPPLY is coming in at a steady enough rate that the stock is always replenished.
"No need to be creative about supplies, both consoles have really huge supplies like november sales numbers showed us."
Sony does not have "really huge supplies", at least not in the US, otherwise I would have gotten more than 5 shipments into my store since launch. Yes, the demand is high, meaning the stock sells out very quickly when it comes in, but the simple fact is that many retail stores have gotten in WAYYYYYY more X1s to sell through than they have PS4s. The supply is anything but "huge".
edit: And ya, demand for PS4 is super high, whenever we get a shipment in they sell out in like an hour, it's just that we rarely get them in :/
