Xbox Ones are Cheap on ebay/craigslist/amazon

We had tons of reports from people working at retail confirming that PS4 demand is indeed higher.

Ebay prices also confirm that, with XBO lower than PS4 compared to its retail price.

So do the first sales numbers and even recent software sales numbers in the UK. Stocks are also on the same page :

Basically, PS4 is on top everywhere worldwide, there's hardly any doubt left at this point.

I don't think anyone is debating that PS4 has more demand, nor am I. I say I don't think you work in retail, or have much of an idea of it, because of everything else in your post.

"Yeah, it's simple really. PS4 is sold out because demand is high, XBO is on shelves because it doesn't sell that well now that the first weeks are over."

The first part of your sentence is 100% true, but the second part...not so much. It isn't on shelves "simply" because it doesn't sell well, on the contrary, I sell through the stock regularly, it's just that the SUPPLY is coming in at a steady enough rate that the stock is always replenished.

"No need to be creative about supplies, both consoles have really huge supplies like november sales numbers showed us."

Sony does not have "really huge supplies", at least not in the US, otherwise I would have gotten more than 5 shipments into my store since launch. Yes, the demand is high, meaning the stock sells out very quickly when it comes in, but the simple fact is that many retail stores have gotten in WAYYYYYY more X1s to sell through than they have PS4s. The supply is anything but "huge".

edit: And ya, demand for PS4 is super high, whenever we get a shipment in they sell out in like an hour, it's just that we rarely get them in :/

I have no doubt the PS4 is in higher demand, what I dispute for the moment is the sense on these forums that the XB1 isn't selling well.

Sense is a nebulous thing. Just wait for the NPD results next week. XBO had a great launch month and you know what, they probably did fine in December too...

I guess people are making the point that it is not selling as well as PS4. Which for US is very surprising. 360 was dominating this market.

PS4 being cheaper should have and is absolutely a driving reason why it's selling better. Microsoft, having taken back so many of their original plans, need to rethink this. My Kinect is currently broken because of a factory fault...I originally hated it because I did like commanding my Xbox around. However, without it is much less of a headache. Maybe they'll do away with it and find another way for voice commands. It is nifty for scanning the QR codes for stuff, though.

All they really needed to include is a mic - doing voice command for your console is definitely possible (and fairly reliable) without a Kinect-like device. Unfortunately, I think they'd need to reconfigure their interface a bit to go with a Kinect-less sku as right now it's a little cumbersome.

and the playstation did for two generations before it. It's not surprising a $400 ps4 would be selling better, Sony just can't keep the stores stocked.

But then you have to wear the mic all the time. F that.

I work retail part-time as well and I can confirm this to be the case at my store at least. The demand for the PS4's is much higher from customers and we are unable to keep them in stock... We have only gotten a couple "big" shipments since launch, and that was less than 80 units total. We have gotten several large shipments of XB1's in the store since launch and we were only "out of stock" the week of launch. We have gotten well over 100 units in the store since launch and have sold almost all of them, granted it takes longer for them to sell.

There is a demand for the system and we have been selling through them, but the demand is still higher for PS4, we just don't get enough to sell. We got 1 system in on the truck last night and it was sold before it got to the Electronics dept, as one of the unloaders went on lunch as it was coming out to the floor and bought it. It's a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

This is why I have a feeling the XB1 will have sold more units in the Dec. NPD. There has just been waay more XB1 units to sell to customers than PS4s, and this seems to be consistant to what everyone at retail has said. The only wildcard here is how large that Amazon shipment was that lasted over 24 hours. We never got any type of press release, but that lasted a long time, and if they did the 12 or 16k in 20+ minutes last time (although that release was probably just trolling a Major Nelson), who knows how many they sold in that 24 hours.

I had this idea before as there are a lot of cheap xbox one bundles for sale on my local craigslist.

I just can't get over the idea of paying $60 for live when i already pay for ps+.

I'm in the middle of making a deal with someone on Craigslist. It looks like I will be paying (if it goes through) $350 for a used-one-time Xbox One with a brand new extra controller, 1 year of Xbox Live, and three brand new games (Call of Duty, Madden, and Ryse).

Thanks OP for making me check Craigslist!

can't wait for December NPD and see how this 'constant Xbone supply' turns out

Xbone fans said the same thing about constant supply in the UK, and yet PS4 easily outsold it in December

the crazy thing about this is that most stores have extended holiday return policies...so people selling unopened boxes are losing money for no reason...

I believe the XB1 will sell more in December judging from availability. But PS4 demand is definitely high, seems like most store managers i spoke to say PS4's shipments don't come as often as those for XB1...

The way I look at it is that I did you a favor and am providing a service.

I sat in the cold for hours, you did not.
I lost sleep to pick up this console, you did not.
I am going to deliver it to you.
I spread the word to other people who were looking for consoles where to find them.

All you had to do was go to work or sleep etc and pay me a mere 160$ expense to secure yourself a console. Don't want to buy? Don't bother. Good luck hunting, Early bird gets the worm yaknow.

On a side note it was extremely hard to turn a profit on the XB1 but I managed to sell it to some kid and his dad for an extremely minimal profit. Made me feel good that I could help that family out.

A few hours of work turned into a few hundred dollars pure profit with the only risk being my time. Seems like a good investment to me. Maybe you kids will learn how capitalism works someday, until then, keep not preordering new consoles and inflating my wallet.

*Edit*
Best part about CL was the hater who kept checking prices on CL and then posting, "DONT BUY FROM THESE SCUMBAG SCALPERS, YOU CAN BUY THE PS4 COD GHOSTS BUNDLE ON AMAZON FOR 500!!" I just kept flagging those posts and they would disappear.

And then the guy who wanted to trade a crossbow for a PS4 lol!

Also all transactions were done in front of a local on duty police officer for maximum security. Nothing like shooting the shit with an officer of the law while doing something so immoral :).

that's crazy. I don't even want a xbo right now, but would jump at that. It does have some better games at the moment.

I sold a launch wiiu at a steep loss, but to someone here on gaf.

This isn't the case in my area. They're at least $40-$50 more than retail, just by themselves. PS4 is the same. However, there's more XBO than PS4 listings.

The sales numbers we have suggest Xbox has sold less and is in stock.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out as things are its not looking good.

Good. Let the filthy scalpers rot in hell.

Lol jk im not retarded.

Seriously you guys need to grow up. Maybe one day when you guys work for your money instead of getting consoles as gifts from your mom/buying it with your allowance money, youll learn the value of a dollar and gain some perspective on the practice of reselling high demand first world luxury items instead of struggling to scrape the bottom of the barrel for delusional justification as to why "scalpers" are more evil than the giant, local economy destroying corporations that sell them under the guise of convenient retail. Dont fucking sit here and talk about why people who resell are evil and giant retail chains are innocent. Shut up already you morons.

If youre so morally high on yourself dont buy the virtual games machine manufactured by overworked and underpaid child factory workers instead of cherrypicking ideology to fit your schema and demean others?

The practice is not illegal nor immoral. Theres a word for people who dont like others to succeed in their endeavors that are harmless to others. Its called being a hater.
Not enough facepalm in the world for this reply. You should try to not let your feelings get so hurt.

Scalpers around here aren't able to sell their Xbox Ones. I see some who have been listed at $500 where the ad has been active for 27 days. No sale. Day One Editions are readily available if anybody still wants one, I can pick it up.

I do see a few going for sub-$500, but not many. $480 seems to be the bottoming out price right now.

LOL

We can make predictions based on anecdotal evidence, but even a genius could not figure out the sales numbers based on what we know so far. Dec. NPD numbers are just around the corner, though, so it won't be long. I can't wait!

Like it or not, there is a pile of exclusive games i want to play on the Xbone. Killer Instinct, Ryse, Dead Rising 3... Keep in mind, theses are fucking launch titles. LAUNCH TITLES. Ps4 is still more popular even though Xbox One has better launch titles.

That's great and all, but what does that have to do with the topic?

Pretty much what I was thinking. Reminds of the good (bad) old days around E3.

Hey guys, I just stopped by to let you all know how great the launch exclusive titles are for The One(TM). It's only been out for a few weeks and it already has a wealth of great software, IMO. Go get one now!

Damn... That's impressive. I'm pretty jealous haha.

What's crazy is that our city sold out everywhere and just this weekend, I see brand new Day One Editions at Toys R Us and Wal-Mart! It's as though they were Christmas gifts and then they were returned....

$380 for: 2 controllers, 1 console, 2 games...that would've been $60 + $500 + $120 = $680 dollars lol... subtract $380 = $300 discount... that's almost 50% off even if they were used that's still the best deal you could possibly get besides stealing the damn thing.

I wouldn't call that cheap. I'd expect to not pay retail for a used item, unless these are all brand new.

That's a real fucking stretch right there. Good job.
While I agree a store is a stretch, car dealerships do it all the time. When the redesigned Mustang came out a few years ago, they would jack the price up like 5 to 10k over sticker. Anytime a car is hot you're not going to pay anything close to msrp on it and I don't see people whining about that.

I also say buy new (but you are doing a solid for the earth to buy secondhand when you can). I got my PS4 from the Sony site but it looked like a refurbished unit when I opened it. I don't mind as long it it works during the first weeks of "traditional electronics failure".
