Yeah I too would also hate to have a smaller machine with different dimensions on my shelf. That would be embarrassing, Like it used to be bigger, but the older I get the smaller they are and bigger it looks.

That would be a shame.

What I found most strange about the reveal was that it just seemed like yet another "sizzle reel" so I was pretty damn tuned out. Then suddenly a next-gen console appears and draws my eyes back.

I have to imagine we'll get a proper reveal at another time with specs and features laid out. This felt like an attempt to be the takeaway story from the big gaming event, and it worked.

We all know that no matter what, some people were always going to find something to nitpick and complain about, especially when it involves a brand they've spent the better part of 6 years (or more) trashing on the internet.

TV lines have done it for years. Samsung 6, 7, 8 series

Event TCL is doing TV series in those same lines.

i think it's confusing and we're still talking about a console here. Is it a valid comparison? There are like 50 different tv technologies oled led plasma and what not. And you basically release one console in a cycle. The name is way off imho. 1500 X's+ Xbox one x, Xbox one and so on it only adds to the confusion. Thus the reason we're discussing it.
Or do you think it's a good name.
I don't want to shit on Xbox but I think they're not smart with their branding. As someone here mentioned. Same shit happened with Wii and Wii U

Boring is not the problem, ugly is. That tower design and form factor is just very, very off-putting. Sure, you can put it horizontally but still. I just like my consoles to look like consoles, not like subwoofers or PC towers. Each to his own.

Yeah, this is what I would like to know as well. I have a lot of older discs back to the original Xbox lying around and it would be nice if this was able to play all of them.

I don't think it's a good name, I thought they would want to get as far away from all Xbox one branding as possible going forward.
I would have put money on Nextbox or Xbox Infinite.

But with Xcloud and such I suppose I can see why they stuck with it.

They funny thing is everyone is quick to criticize, what if PS5 looks like an Echo or a VCR? are they suddenly going to change their mind?

They could present the Homer of appliances, and they will all tell you it's the most magnificent thing ever created.

You should wait to see what the others look like before you start throwing stones.

They should sticked with Scarlett just as the One X should have been called Scorpio. MS project names always sound better than their final name. They needvto hire professionals to name their future products at this rate.

Not happy about the shape of it. Wont fit anywhere. What a stupid design. Pretty disappointed, I have to admit. consoles should be stackable. Come on.

Average gamers don't care about looks o don't remember caring or anyone I know caring it's only online neogaf divas and Victoria secret models who care about design!

Your mind was made up before the name was announced. I'm not even going to pretend to want to reason with you.

The only thing you get is that they are not Sony and therefore must be destroyed. I don't have time for that shit.

Agreed X-Box infinite would have been way better imho.

btw I'm surprised that they announced it today? Was it planned? What about PS5?

Obviously it was planned, otherwise Phil wouldn't have come out right after. I personally would have thought they would have played it closer to the chest, but I suppose showing the case, doesn't really show what's inside.

MS didn't say anything different tonight then they said at E3, just now we know what it looks like, and what we can expect launch titles to look like.
 
I thought this was a mock up meme floating around the internet when i saw it on Facebook(was unaware Microsoft had any event on today). I was shocked to find out it is the official design. It looks completely horrid, How is it supposed to fit in most TV cabinets? After the great looking Xbox One S and X consoles this is a huge step backwards. Even worse than the original Xbox One in terms of visual design.
 
I mean it no longer looking like a console. This is full fledged pc case. I dunno how I feel about it, but I think it was half expected.

Its height seems the same as the width of the one s and x.

I think everyone agrees that the naming is pretty bad and it will probably hurt the brand.
But what about the design? I really like the looks but it is not very functional.
How do you guys plan to integrate it into your TV cabinet? I think the only option is to put it on top.
It doesn't look like that it fits in horizontally and even if it does it leaves a lot of unused space in the back.
But maybe there is a huge power brick again.
 
Looks roughly just over two times as wide as the disk slot on your X, and just a little over one tall, if you put it flat.

Which isn't actually that big, when it comes down to it.

They didn't do themselves and favours with this video, it essentially makes it look like this huge towering beast, when in reality it's not that big.

Weird... MS really have no idea when it comes to this stuff recently.

I'm just laughing at the name still... it's utterly baffling, and actually works AGAINST the point the name is trying to make...

I mean the sane could be said about the 360, One, One S and One X. Their names didn't cause mass confusion. Lol
 
Not really inspired by the design, but alas its just the housing so who really cares.

When did console announcements stop talking about GAMES?

Terrible console name and the design reminds me of generic Aliexpress mini pc box.
 
it just reminds me of the failed steambox...its like taking a pc and plugging it into your tv. doesn't even look like a console.

it looks like that for cooling perhaps cause they overclocked the crap out of it.
