As surprising as the reveal was it was also a bizarre venue to make the announcement.
I thought Phil was about to take over and turn the first half hour into the xbox show but then it just sort of moved onto the next thing. Was this their attempt at a gotcha like the Wired PS5 announcement?
Not sure the hype wave is going to get very big with all these mini reveals happening over the span of 1.5 years..
The name pretty much tells me they consider the One X part of the nextgen package...

The xbox one controller doesn't have all the new features that the PS5 controller does though. These new ones seem more directly relevant to gameplay.

Well, not as ugly as previous ones, but hell, looks like they are still lacking in design. Specs are the same as PS5. There is nothing new in hardware front. AMD provides the same silicon to each party. Controller is as ugly as a bastard demon from hell, and it is not comfy at all. My hands will hurt.

It's not bad. My thing is it seems like another half step in terms of the branding. I understand the concept of keeping it similar, but there doesnt seem to be enough separation from X1X for most people to get excited. It looks like a 2020 X1X. Keep it simple/if it ain't broke don't fix it. I get all that.
But if ps5 can show off something that screams next level(while familiar) and also has similar backward compatibility features for the same price, I think it will Sony an unforseen edge just in terms of appearance. Not to mention all the other advantages.

that green light going to be very distracting at night. also rdna 1.0 does not support raytracing on hardware level, first xbox i like as my pc is matx of similar size, bit wider. Have to assume, on the bottom is the intake fan, blowing air to the top.
But if the PCB is tiny, mounted on one of the side panels, 15cm by 15cm. What´s up with all the extra space? They´re not just realsing a real pc with xbox overlay? This seems more like Lockhart to me, the 4TFlops variant.

Comparing with the controller sitting next to X its like 3 controllers put together. That is extremely small, slick , sexy design AF of the new beast X.

I don't know why people are saying it's huge - if the disc slot is the same size as the one on the Xbox One (which seems likely since the media is still 12cm optical discs) and the controller is the same size then the overall dimensions are going to be something like 13x13x25 cm = 4225cm^3
The Xbox One X is 30x24x6cm = 4320cm^3
So almost exactly the same volume.
And, for reference, the PS4 Pro is 29.5x29.5x5.5cm = 4786cm^2

Right now I can carry my PS4 (oG) my laptop, and my switch in my knapsack. That doesn't look like the case with this.

I was expecting something in similar fashion to X1X, but this tower design seriously throws me off. It's way too tall to put it right in front/below the TV, unless it hangs on the wall high enough, not to mention it will surely love to fall over when my cats will be chasing each other near by. I'd much more likely prefer something like a Louqe Ghost S1 - same capacity, MUCH better looking design and functionality.
PS. And I have to say, after all the hype Spencer and Co. were building throughout the year, randomly releasing a trailer, just like that, all of a sudden, instead of proper presentation on a big conference killed the entire hype for me, it's like wellthereitis.gif...
