speaking of ps5, they need full backwards compatibility now. I still have a collection of ps1 and 2 discs I'd like to use.

Easy fix . Get an end table. Something heavy like this and put it on the side where it won't block your tv.

I have to give Microsoft credit there. This was a low key reveal that gets people talking without shouting like crazy.

I don't mind the look at all, if it can deliver the performance goods.
 
That won't fit in a HUGE number of entertainment centers... Utterly insane design choice. Wives and mothers everywhere will freak out when these star showing up OUTSIDE of built-ins, sub-6" shelves, and cabinets everywhere.

They got literally every damned thing right EXCEPT a living room-friendly case
 
For a second I thought they were announcing Xbox branded PC's.
But overall I like the design, simple and too the point.

Honestly those type of cabinets are the WORST place for a game console due to airflow issues.

No they expected it to be the size of a DVD case and be dead silent while being as powerful as a high end PC lol. This thing was clearly designed to cool a rtx2080 level gpu with 8 core cpu silent while costing less than the 2080. They had to make it bigger to dissipate the heat effectively. I'm sure that cooling system dwarfs the one x which is huge.

Exactly and the PS5 will be similar, but praised for reasons.

I have a very wide low level stand with one lower level of shelves under my projection screen, so I'll have room for this on top.

But airflow is going to be paramount for Xbox Serious and PS5.

When I built mine, I purposely didn't install the backing. I don't give a shit you can see the cables behind it. Airflow is more important than aesthetics and people need to understand that.

Yes both are going to need a ton of space to breath. They are going to generate a lot of heat. It's the price for high end performance. Big APU clocked high lots of heat to vent outside. I will put a fan on the back of the entertainment center to vent it away from.

"Devkit" the ps4 shocked everyone with its size when it was released in comparison to the Xbox one. Let's wait for official pictures first before we assume.
 
It's a chunky little thing, but I don't see why height (when placed horizontally) should be an issue, as it doesn't see to be any taller than your standard AV receiver, so most cabinets should accommodate it. I'll wait to see it in the flesh or at least in more shots.

The PS4 and Xbox one were running discount Jaguar CPUs and GPUs that run fine in micro towers. These consoles are not. And I NEVER said the PS5 would be bigger. Don't put words in my mouth. I said they can't be slim like a launch PS4 due the heat generated by the components.

Microsoft's console names are so ridiculous, you wonder if they're intentionally trying to obfuscate the difference between consoles on purpose.

It's a weird situation where maybe if your Xbox One X can't play a game that the Series X can, you'll just stream it on Xcloud or something. Like they don't want to differentiate between "next" and "last" gen too much, just buy ANY god damn Xbox please.

Wait, so you want to know the difference between One X and Series X? Look, if you don't already know it, don't worry about it! Just buy whatever fits your price range. It'll play Xbox games, promise!

It could if they put a vacuum cleaner in there for cooling no thanks or add to the price no thanks either. My entertainment center has lots of room to dissipate the heat of these beasts with no extra noise.
