Why does it need the HDD for exactly?
gofreak said:There are exceptions, I guess.
But I'd also like to know what's different about this versus previous console management games that didn't require a HDD? Did those previous versions cut features vs PC games or something? Like I'm wondering if MS simply had larger memory cards, if this would be necessary.
beermonkey@tehbias said:Since most buyers do choose the hard drive, there is zero comparison with old attachments like 32x and Sega CD.
And if anybody thinks games that require attachments can't sell...

(yeah, pc version, I know, but you get the point)

What a cock.Allard said:There isnt a game on 360 that you cant play without a hard drive.
Jerkface said:PS2 management games are severely crippled and have massive save files.
gofreak said:Makes sense.
If Ghost is right, though, simply providing a half-way decent memory card could have solved this. It doesn't really need a HDD, it just needs a respectable mem card![]()
Master of the Melee said:The xbox 360 needs a HDD or HD DVD because all games are in Hi Def and that means that all textures are going to be bigger, meaning the graphics will take up already four times as much disk space in most cases. The Rev, with its smaller custom DVDs, are technically bigger since Nintendo has banned HDTV. Sony is unaffected with blu ray.
The fact that the 360 does not have that means it has a hardware liability, one that may be abandoned in just a few months given the outcry towards Microsoft coming in at all sides.

No biggie IMO.
Kung Fu Jedi said:And this folks, is how you STAY a Junior Member! :lol
Jerkface said:Maybe, but it depends how big a cache it needs to hold the ongoing data aswell. Football Manager is amazingly in depth at the maximum settings and if the 360 can buzz through that with a hard drive but stutter without then I think they have to go with this.
I would imagine updates will weigh in at a large amount aswell.
Jerkface said:He has a point, look at the insane texture resolution. You can see the individual dots representing each players feet!

True. I wonder when they changed their minds though.Vennt said:You're making the obvious mistake of equated "What they said" with "What they meant".![]()

Vennt said:That's the old cover-art, Sega themselves have confirmed this game is HDD-Only, and supplied Gamefront.de with the cover-art in the original post.
We are sticking to the same system for the PC/Mac hybrid version that we've had for a while, whereas Xbox 360 will have something different instead, but we're not revealing exactly what just yet. It's very cool though, and much more appropriate for the console gamer compared to our normal system.

What a cock.
The load times in games like PGR3 suck, especially after PGR2's shorter load times!
Haleon said:If Sega wants to take a risk and cater to a specific sect of the market, let 'em.
They may use it, but I don't any last-gen game truly needed it. The downside seems to be slightly longer load times.FiRez said:The HDD exclusion was a big deal imho, just look at how many PC ports and graphical intensive games use it on the original xbox
You might be right, but my overall point stands. If the dev wants to cater to a specific sect of the market, let 'em.monkeymagic said:I think the developer rather than Sega are dictating the requirement for a HDD.
