Xbox's Avowed Will Be $20 Cheaper When It Launches on PS5 ($49.99)

Its a year old game - $30-$35 would be a fair price

i just think it's hilarious that some people here think that people who subscribe to gamepass think they are getting anything for free.

The point of subscription services is to give access to these games. If you want to buy it just pay the full price. Why are people making weird arguments about the definition of the free? None of it is free. GPU users simply do not have to buy those games to play them. Just like any other subscribtion service. Why are people making silly arguments about this? Who really cares HOW the next person is playing the game?

More to the point if you like a descent open world RPG with a colourful art style and an interesting world it's a decent game. I dabbled with it but I been on a shmup spree lately and it just sitting in my GPU library. I'm sure I'll give a full run at some point. I think I would pay 50 bucks for it. Or maybe cath it in a sale for 30 later on down the road.

Games are always on sale sooner or later . The thing about backlogs is they make you patient. Even that clair obscure game …… I know it's great but I won't pay more than 40-50 bucks in a sale for it anyway. No game is worth more than 50 bucks to me, I don't even care if it's the GOTY edition with all the DLC. I'll give you 50 bucks for it or spend the money on something else.

The Deluxe Edition is 47.99 on PSN right now and the normal version has been 39.99 several times so not sure where you're going with this.

If Microsoft had enough confidence they would charge it full price. They've done that with Forza Horizon 5 and even expected PS5 players to pay full 100 bucks for the Premium Edition with the expansions. They simply know that a game like Avowed won't sell any copies for 70€ a year later and you won't be able to hide that behind Game Pass 'engagement' numbers.

Obsidian hit with price drops every release will make people think its part of their release plan. stop it, microslop

PS5 gamers will be paying $50 more compared to GamePass
Yes I'd love to pay $30 every month that I decide to play instead of $50 upfront. What a saving!

Or I wait for this game that I have no interest in anyway to maybe hit PS+.

To those who played it, how is the world building, towns and NPCs compared to Elder Scrolls series? I mean, some of you exaggerated this developer to no end acting as if they are were so beyond Bethesda with Fallout New Vegas, is this even in the ball park of an Elder Scrolls?

still trying to shil gamepast is some big brain move, when it pretty much single-handedly killed your favorite toy.

its rejected by public, move on already

don't buy this for those. you'll be hugely disappointed.
world, towns are totally static. npcs are basically cardboard quest givers stuck to their posts.
it all feels really archaic in this day and age when you come from something like kcd2 or even es.
its more of an action game.

Well 99.9% of games aren't worth it at $70

And plenty of super successful games for $40 and under. PS players are getting fleeced, most players on Xbox paid a dollar to play this

As it should be... but it tells you they know its not good enough to be bold to release at $70 (let alone $80 which was their original plan 🤣)

There's not much hype for this so what do you expect. It means it'll get into the 30-40 sale price range pretty quickly which is what most are willing to pay I'd imagine

Honestly Looks like a PS Plus freebie that's not even worth the download. Save the hard drive space for something more worthwhile.

Yeah, you're wrong about that. It's a decent-looking game with fun gameplay and a story that kept me playing to the end. I wouldn't put it in the same category as the latest Dragon Age, for instance. I think a sequel is in development too.

Gameplay is good. Characters and story are below par for this kind of game. But the gameplay keeps me going on this one.

Does the word shit give you an idea? Or better yet, imagine an RPG that's only saving grace is it's combat. That's Avowed. Obsidian didn't even design the only decent part of this game, so putting them in Bethesda's league is just an insult at this point. They're Temu Bethesda.

Thank you, that is good to know. I'll likely just get KCD2 and stick with that this spring.

To the rest of you.....stop hyping up this fucking team lol They made Fallout New Vegas OFF OF THE BACKS of a concept already created, engine already created etc

Outworlds shows, when left to make that shit on their own, it flops.

Avowed shows, when left to make that shit on their own....it yet again flops

So maybe we need to put to bed this whole thing about this team being so superior. I love Pillars Of Eternity 1 and 2, but the glazing has its limits folks lol

Price is more in line with the experience, should have done this at first release, it might have sold more.

Good job pissing off your loyal gamepass and xbox subsribers though who actually paid for the game.

There are other qualities in this game.

Its Diablo lite.

Gameplay is good but its in service of its loot, build variety etc.

I would recommend anyone playing this to respec after every area, try all classes and weapons that look cool to you.

The world building is good and towns are well-designed, the world looks extremely good at times. Even loot is placed out well.

But for me it's not even close to Bethesda's games.

Short summary:
It feels old. Almost like a SNES RPG. I swapped to Oblivion Remastered mid game, Avowed felt older and Oblivion is 20 years old…

Longer explanation:
There is no world simulation going on at all, NPCs are literally static, just standing there all day long, there are some people walking but not those you talk to, and nobody react to what you do, if you draw your sword or steal things right infront of them, there is no interactivity and physics etc.
And the loot is extremely boring, it's placed perfectly but you mostly get upgrade parts.

Still, this stuff ain't completely crippling the game. It's mostly messing with the immersion, it's not a game where you pretend to live in the world.

And the combat is legit good, I'd say better than any Elder Scrolls, minus the bow of course.
The roleplaying is great too, you can really tweak things around by choosing your conversation choices, and things can go real bad if you want.

It's well-worth a playthrough. I enjoyed the combat a ton. But don't expect a Bethesda game.

Still not worth it. One of most boring rpgs ive played. All game is just devoid of life, good writing and any kind of fun

Yup, even though I dedicate $5,000 just for video games every year I know how I've earned it and what it can do elsewhere.

Buy Tainted Grail Fall of Avalon instead if you want that
