Xenoblade's 'Engage the Enemy' is last generation's best video game track

I honestly wouldn't be able to pick a best out of the xenoblade soundtrack. There are like three or four that I'll remember the most out of the last generation.

One Who Gets in Our Way is Xenoblade's best song. Gaur Plain is really good but it only represents an extremely early part of the game. OWGOW plays whenever world-ending shit is happening. AND IT'S PERFECT

How does xenogears play on dolphin? Am well tempted to give it a go

You mean Xenoblade?

I'm playing through it right now on one of the more recent developer builds with the HD retexture pack and a 360 controller. No issues at all aside from the rare stutter here and there on certain cutscenes, though I have a decent rig.

Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey have much better soundtracks in my opinion.

Did not like the track posted by OP at all. Feels simple and cheesy. Not enough personality.

I would recommend against playing with the retexture packs. Although some of the environments looks more detailed it really clashes against the artstyle and doesn't feel as cohesive as the original textures.

Yea I realised my error and amended it lol. I have a modest rig (i5 and 8 gig ram) but may attempt this with my controller hooked up

I think it's fine personally. It's easy to disable with a checkbox if people don't care for it.

Gaaahhh, so good.

Now I feel guilty again for never finishing the game.
Why does it have to be so long :(

Engage the Enemy was my favorite song too.

I think I listened to it at least 1600+ times on my Ipod...before I dropped it on cemented grounds. D:

Gonna spoiler tag just in case.
This is the song that plays when
Metal Face kills Fiora
right? That scene along with Shulk's VA shouting
"I'll kill you!"

Amazing.
That being said, I prefer One Who Gets in Our Way.

Xenoblade is just a phenomenal game in almost every aspect.

This too.

Yeah, the fact that it was paired up with one of most badass scenes in the game helped.

Mumkhar: "I wanted to get the Monado so I could be the new hero!"
Dunban: "Is that it? That's the puerile reason you killed all those innocent people?!" Ravaged our home!"
Mumkhar: "I love this body! Hahaha! The power!"
Mumkhar: "Dunban, you'll never win! Get on your knees and WORSHIP ME!"
Dunban: "Never. I will strike you down and all that you've become, you wretched fool. The Monado will stop you! And then you will know the shame of all that you have done, traitor!"

I don't if I say its the best, one of the higher up ones maybe, but best I'm not to sure. But god damn did it play at some of the best parts of the game. I loved how it was made to basically sync up with all of them too.

Though personally my favorite song from the entire game is (location spoiler)
On The Fallen Arm
.

This guy gets it. I never see this song mentioned in Xenoblade discussions! It's so overlooked. Maybe because it's a late game track and it's title could be seen as a location spoiler it doesn't get posted so much.

When I first heard it in game I just had to stop playing and listen. Usually it takes a couple of cycles of a song for me to get into it, but not with this track. It just got me instantly.

I've also really enjoyed this Galaxy 2 remix of Galaxy 1's storybook theme.

It just works so well with pretty much all the scenes it plays in.

It even works well in Smash (despite the shitty edit). The crescendo lines up with when Metal Face flies in, and it's awesome.

As great as this song is, nothing comes close to Gusty Garden Galaxy. That's song is simply magical and is the closest a song has come to giving me the same nostalgic feelings I had playing games as a child.

After listening to the song in the OP I don't even like it as a song. It has decent sections but there's always a new terrible decision waiting in the wings (that fucking guitar).

The track is much more effective with visuals, especially with certain cutscenes its used in.

I agree without hesitation that Xenoblade had the best OST of the last generation. My favorite track, however, was Confrontation with the Enemy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQnY7L8ucCk

Edit: I'm a huge dingus. The OP's song and the one I posted are the same. So yes, an odd occasion where I agree with the original post in a thread.
