Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z -- E3 Demo

Its rather telling that hayashit was at gamescom and none of the big sites even noticed.

Team ninj... I mean temco production studio 1: Dog edition, Indeed.

Yeah, NG is the perfect example of Japanese mismanagement. Instead of focusing on what made the first game great in the first place, Itagaki released a rushed NG2 and then Hayashi dumped a huge shit all over the series. The attempt to make NG3 more Western-focused with dumber gameplay, QTE-kills and more cutscenes was crazy. Who the fuck wanted more cutscenes in NG? Black had enough of them already with a plot derived from the 8-bit games. Not Oscar worthy by any means but more than enough. Then NG2 cutscenes were awful, and then that turd of a game called NG3 happened.

How to go from one of the greatest games ever (Black) to one of the greatest pieces of shit (3), by Hayashi.

And this one is 30fps. Ffs.

I'm all alone in regards to anticipating this game. Not a fan of the silliness factor or zombies, but it nonetheless looks good.

Nah, the game looks pretty fun to me, sort of like the Japanese equivalent of the recent Deadpool game.

People are too hung up on it not being a serious NG game.

Is this going to be the Yaiba version of the white hair deflection?

People are hung up on it not being a Ninja Gaiden game at all. The person presenting the game in the gamepot demo is even saying the developers are thinking of it that way.

That and it looks like Killer is Dead. Mashy style over substance. Of course Ninja Gaiden fans aren't gonna be interested in this lol.

Damn it's like me and 5 other people here on GAF are actually looking forward to this game. It's like a fun zany spinoff of the NG series and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

Now if this was maybe a main game then I might have a problem with it but even then I'd still give it a chance like I did with the terrible vanilla NG3 and DmC.

I'm a Ninja Gaiden fan and I'm interested in it, so there's that theory out the window. It's a spinoff game and clearly labelled as such, so it's fine if they want to do something different with it.

I'm just saying keep an open mind and judge it on what it is and not what you want it to be.

"If this wasn't called Ninja Gaiden, it would be celebrated as a great action game"

lol, that's like the unofficial tagline of this franchise for what, the past 3 games?

Hahah, seriously. I've heard this way too much.

Guess what guys. It's called "Ninja Gaiden."

Huh. Though the gameplay doesn't look particularly compelling from what I'm seeing, I do like the art and the humor. I'd be lying if I said I didn't laugh at the steamroller part.

Not really. An exception doesn't disprove a rule.

but I don't even remember saying that all ninja gaiden fans wouldn't like it. I just said that it doesn't look like a Ninja Gaiden game at all and isn't being developed or marketed as such. So it isn't surprising why so many fans aren't interested.

Not open enough if you can look at this game and come to the conclusion that the only reason people don't like it is because it's different...

Played the demo at PAX 2013 (Australia). Thought it was really awful coming from a big fan of action games like NG, DMC, Bayonetta etc.

My issue isn't that yaiba isn't a serious NG game. Its that I see no indication that the franchise is capable of anything significantly better under Hayashits leadership.

This is probably the best we are getting for very long time. In fact, the best thing Hayashit can do is just port the NG trilogy to the PS4 and call it a day.

No thanks. The Sigma games are nothing more than dumbed down abominations. The best thing that can happen is Team Ninja disband and call it a day. Oh and Devil's Third gets backing from a publisher and is released at some point....

I want to see a good Ninja Gaiden game as much as everyone else does. The last one didn't even make much sense in the on-going storyline and fiction of the NG universe and that's one of many reasons why it's too bad Itagaki isn't on them anymore. He was Ninja Gaiden.

But I will still go into this with open mind. It's an obvious side story. Expect to see Yaiba make an appearance in a future DOA game. Maybe they need to think about working on a DOA action/adventure game. Give Ryu a rest and let one of the other guys or gals get the spotlight in the DOA/NG universe.
