Yakuza 3 | Official Thre

I hope never. This is unacceptable.

It might not be 'unacceptable' to people who have never cared for that part of the game anyway.

And they are not allowed to discuss their enjoyment of the game without someone saying how 'unacceptable' this all is every few minutes.

I don't think anyone is stopping you from discussing the game if you're playing it and want to discuss it. Why are you trying to stop others from discussing what is important to them? Double standards?

Of course they are. Messages you aren't interested in are easy to ignore. Complaining about what other people want to talk about just adds to the noise.

Reposting for new page.

I'm at work now so I can't check it until I get back tonight, but I'll post up the number if someone hasn't done so since. All I can tell from the trophy info is there is more than 80 side missions since you still get a trophy for completing 80 side missions and then another for completing all the side missions.

Frankly all I'm interested in right now is the cuts and the localization; the game's over a year old to me otherwise. :)
I have the Japanese version too so if I really wanna dress up my girls, I'll open the wrapper on it :)

Yakuza 1 lost its Japanese voices. Yakuza 2 didn't lose anything as far as I know.

When does discussion about the cuts stop and discussion about the game start?

According to this thread, never.

I wasn't going to buy it but whatever. I need my fix of corny yakuza stories. Still this is pretty much a dark day in terms of localisation; anyone who turns a blind eye to it or shrugs it off has no idea.

Time to brush up on my Japanese I suppose.

Whilst most "official threads" on GAF are pages upon pages of unequivocal, hyperbolic praise (which I too dislike), the amount of posts already in this thread about the cuts is greater than those talking about impressions of the game for anyone who has picked it up.

But when there's almost implied criticism for those who are buying the game now, painting them as uninformed or stupid, I think it's a bit unnecessary.

Sure, I'll ignore the constant "SEGA sux" posts and I expect them to die out when more people have got the game, but when it's constant like it is right now, it doesn't make me feel like discussing the game at all.

Picked the game up yesterday and Gamestop didn't give me the $5 pre-order discount and the receipt had no code for DLC. I called the store and explained the situation to them. The employee I talked with thought I confused the five dollar deposit for a discount, I corrected him and told him to ask someone else. He came back to the phone and told me to come in tomorrow (today now) for my $5 off. I then explained the lack of DLC. He said it was in the box. I explained to him that, in addition to what was in the box, there was supposed to be some Gamestop exclusive DLC for those of us who pre-ordered. He said he knew nothing about it. I'm going to have a hard time getting that DLC code today, I can tell.

I've barely started the game. The aliasing (or shimmer) in the cutscenes is horrible. I don't usually notice such things but in a game so cinematic, it's distracting and annoying. I've been taking Haruka around town. She's a really cute character and it's fun to make her happy. I also like her fast walking animation while holding Kazuma's hand.

Question: In the arcade, Haruka said she wanted me to snag her a calico stuffed cat from the alien abduction game. It took me a long time and I snagged a few other stuffed cats before getting the calico, but she still acts like I didn't win the calico cat. Not wanting to ruin our last day in the city before heading to Okinawa, I quit the game. What am I doing wrong?

Not sure if I'm gonna be able to get this on launch day tomorrow after all :lol I was trying to blast through Yakuza 2 this week to be ready but I've gotten sidetracked by like 5 big side-quests at once including the club management one :lol

Can anyone tell me if your DLC codes are working for PAL versions of the game?

Nope not working, game isn't officially out, probably need to wait till today's store update/tomorrow.

How are the two discs arranged inside the box ?

CD is in a plastic sleeve.

Sega actually splashed out on in-game box art! :lol But the manual is B/W.

Ugh.

I'm still playing Mass Effect 2 and just started playing Bad Company 2. On my table there's a copy of FFXIII waiting to be played as well. And I'm expecting Yakuza 3 to arrive tomorrow. I still haven't played even halfway through Yakuza 2 either and I doubt I will finish it any time soon.

Too much games. I shouldn't have spent those dozens of hours on Geometry Wars a week or two ago.

I don't understand why some "controversial" stuff was cut. Yakuza is the nichest of the niche in the West (although with a competent company at the helm it wouldn't have to be). Controversy would help sales, not hurt them.

These were a few of the side quests I actually did in RGG3. They feature characters that were in the first two games and Kenzan... damn shame that they were removed as they're nothing but wacky fanservice.

Just read about the additional side missions that were cut....

Wow, almost regretting my purchase now.... those kind of silly missions were exactly why I love the first two games.....

I feel like I'm back in the SNES days.....

Sega: Let's do it like it's the 90s again! We were kinda successful then, right?

Let's just judge the game as whole package based on what's in the actual western version without comparing it to what may have been released earlier in a different region.

I know 2 didn't. I did the translation for everything that would have been cut :lol Mahjong, shogi, Cabaret girls, etc.
I think this post was missed.

So YOU worked on the localization for Yakuza 2?
Thank you!

I bet you're a millionaire right?
Since apparently the costs to translate those things are sky high and had to be cut from Yakuza 3. :lol

On one hand I'm annoyed about the cut content (as a general rule), but I honestly don't think I would have played them (well maybe the Club manager mode). Still, I'm going to have to wait till I have some side cash to get the game.

just got it... Gamestop didn't have any of the pre order codes. Bummer

EDIT: Nevermind, code is in the box.

Yea I was there late last night and when he didn't have codes, I was like WTF?! Came home, opened it up, and it was in there. This leads me to thinking that nomatter where you buy it, it's gonna have the challenge maps? Or it could be GS shipments only.

A while back someone in this thread posted an English custom version of the Japanese box art, but since we didn't know what the English rear looks like it had nothing there. Now that we do, has anyone completed that custom box?

The following quests were cut because they were deemed unsuitable the the Western audience.

I Wanna Go to Tokyo pt. 1
The Brewer's Treasure
Make the No. 1 Cabaret Club Girl!
English Conversation Solicitor step 1
English Conversation Solicitor step 2
Love's Cupid
Love's Cupid Continues
Love's Cupid Continues Again
A Trip Before Marriage

So around 9/40 of the quests were cut for chapter 3-4. The release date for this game should have been on April 1st to be honest.

jesus christ sega

Just curious, but does this game have a sort of 'catch-up' prologue that details the events of Yakuza 1/2 to get the player up to speed on the plot?

YES, in the form of video cutscenes

Some guy on another board posted this:

"Hey ummm all the missions that tie in with the ones cut out... wouldnt those be gone also?
Like Love Letter In A Bottle (Binzume Love Letter)
TIME OF DAY: Day
PREREQUISITES: Finish "A Trip Before Marriage"

or

A Family Full of Love (Aijou Ippai Kazoku)
TIME OF DAY: Any?
PREREQUISITES: Clear "Love's Cupid" mission
STARTING POINT: Northeast corner of the main intersection at Ryukyu and North
Ryukyu"

Anyone know?

Also, those cut missions are apparently all from Chapters 3 and 4. Are there even more cuts in later chapters?

I can't see why they'd specifically target only two chapters for cuts, so um... yeah, there are probably more cut. Like I said, should be interesting to see where this all ends.

I wouldn't mind making an RGG4 thread, but it sounds like a lot of work, and I'm a busy man living on borrowed time!

Yakuza 3 is actually one chapter consisting of a group of white guys eating hamburgers and calling each other mangiacake.

I'm kind of conflicted. On the one end, cut content sucks. On the other, I 100% Yakuza 2 and found it to be a miserable experience. The hostess clubs were awful, awful crap, I was thanking my lucky stars that Mahjong quests weren't required to fight Amon Joe. That being said, losing some actual, regular sidequests is dissapointing, but the game still has a wealth of content, and considering I'm not going to learn japanese any time soon if ever, its my only shot to actually play what's still a fantastic game.

Also, to those of you who're looking to punish Sega via not buying the game, I understand your sentiment, but when scores of people are unable to actually buy the game due to low shipment, it leads me to believe that it's being undershipped to the point that any copy you boycott will just be picked up by someone else, eventually.

Just picked up my copy of the game, now own yakuza 3 in Japanese and English, same as the first two games.

I am pissed that sega cut content but if I really wanna play it, I'll fire up the jp version.

Quoting this guys post to see if anyone can check?
