Yakuza 3 | Official Thre

My order's dispatched, should be here tomorrow. I'm still really excited to play this, but jesus christ Sega's handling of this series borders on the sadistic. You'd think Nagoshi ran over the head of SoA's dog or something.

Quoting this guys post to see if anyone can check?

I just reached chapter 3 and checked, it stills says 000 of 000 on side missions which is of no help! I'll keep playing in case it changes once I get to under take the side missions but otherwise I guess we might not know until someone clears the game? Best I can figure though is that there is more than 80 Side Missions still since you get a trophy for clearing 80 of them and then another trophy for clearing all of them.

On a lighter note the fishing mini game seems really fun and simple not to mention relaxing. Gazing out at the sea while I reel in a broken umbrella :lol

Maybe you need to start or complete a side-mission first before the number will appear.

Thats what I wondered. I'm just going back on it now so I'll post back whether that make a difference or not.

just noticed the new thread title :lol
just read about all these quests missing as well :( D:

man... I ... I still will buy it for a bomba price, but Sega is making it really hard for me despite it being my most wanted needs-to-be-localized-game since its release.

I still remember reading the "lolz who likes dressing girls anyway" comments, but combined the cut content would be enough for another game.
I guess Yakuza 3 is one of the worst game-localisations ever content-wise?

jling84 said:
Nah I think at the end it will just be "Y?"

If that. It'll be "?" :lol

I'm def. on Team Not Buying. If I wanted cut content, I'd get in a DeLoren and head back to the 90's.

I'll only buy the English/localized US version when it's $20 or less.

JUst cleared the first side mission and now my completion rate just says 001/001 so it looks like there is no way of knowing how many side missions there are until I m,anage to clear them all.

Got this from poster kilika829 on gamefaqs.com

The following quests were cut because they were deemed unsuitable the the Western audience.

I Wanna Go to Tokyo pt. 1
The Brewer's Treasure
Make the No. 1 Cabaret Club Girl!
English Conversation Solicitor step 1
English Conversation Solicitor step 2
Love's Cupid
Love's Cupid Continues
Love's Cupid Continues Again
A Trip Before Marriage

So around 9/40 of the quests were cut for chapter 3-4. The release date for this game should have been on April 1st to be honest.

more cuts , the fuck is this shit :(

Make the No. 1 Cabaret Club Girl!

I remember this one from my RGG3 copy , the girl wearing short jeans with the silver phone on the street.

Man, the Yakuza 1 box isn't bad, but even that pales in comparison to the RGG1 box art.

For every quest and feature cut from the game, I slash $5 off its worth. So far, $45 is cut. Soon, Sega will have to pay me to play this. =P

You people do realize that by not buying it you're totally justifying Sega's apathy towards the franchise, right? So some stuff's cut, it's still a damn good game, well worth the asking price.

Im buying at full price, but these people have every right to complain and heckle sega for their moronic moves. The only thing sega cares about is throwing another shit sonic game out so fuck em.

Who cares. I would rather see a company like Atlus treat this right.

Could be worse. Ignition could be publishing it. :lol

Ignition would of probably left all the content in, but it would probably have some questionable translation with some bugs in the programming.

Shunning one low probability outcome for an even lower probability one...do you play poker online at all, and if so at what site and under what username? ;P

I played the demo and thought it was down right hideous and then I found out it had content removed and I said to myself "Who the fuck is gonna put up with this shit?".

Play those first. By the time you are done those, this game will be $20.

I know I must sound like a broken record by now, but this game will not end up at a 'Bomba Price'. You guys are totally welcome to boycot this game, but please don't go spreading the misinformation that this game is gonna end up on the cheap in a month or two. It's just not accurate.

Do you guys really not understand the basic concepts of supply and demand?

Sega was originally planning on not releasing this at all in the US. They then released it due to pressure from the 'vocal minority' of fans. How many copies do you think they printed? You really think they went from "Fuck it, we won't release this" to "What the hell, let's print out hundreds of thousands of copies" ? Best guess is that they printed out exactly how many they thought they could sell, which based on the sales of the first two games is not a fuck of a lot.

This game will be in and out of stores in a heartbeat like most niche, japanese small print-run titles are. Already the anecdotal evidence suggests that it's hard to find this game two days after release.

Check the current Amazon.com prices for Yakuza 1 and 2 before you start spouting off incorrect shit.

Sega's too dumb to handle the franchise properly, and Yakuza 3 selling a few tens of thousands copies more isn't going to change that. It's best to assume that this will be the last Yakuza game in English, and make a purchasing decision based on that.

What's the right cat in the toy catcher for that girl at the beginning? I got one of them but I don't want to waste all my money trying to get others! :lol

Thanks

So I played this game for about three hours last night...

And although I can understand the frustration about the cuts, to be honest I'm just happy to be playing the game at all (as I don't speak Japanese).

I'm thinking about restarting the game though, cos I didn't do anything with Haruka in the city at the start (I wasn't sure where I was meant to go with her) and I feel bad :lol

Someone said something about holding her hand when you walk around with her, I didn't even know you could?

They are both under $30 used, and both under $50 New. I think the bargin bin people will be fine. I got Yakuza 1 brand new for $20 in December 09, and got Yakuza 3 brand new for $30 in 2010 (missed it by a day for $20). If I can find Cross Edge and other niche games, I can find Yakuza 3 for cheap 6 + months from now. There's tons of online shops, and PS3 games don't just vanish over night.

This isn't the PS1 era where games hit fucking $200.

Yup, my Frys still has a stack of sealed Yakuza 2s for $29.99.
I got a sealed Yakuza 2 from GS for $19.99 just a few weeks ago.

Truely rare games are a thing of the past.

Well sorry if I'm wrong about the availability of Yakuza 1 and 2....

Personally, I bought part 2 the first week of release and haven't seen it in a store since. Maybe mileage may vary depending on your location. Yakuza 1 being relatively easy to find makes some sense, as they kind of spent a ton of money on that one and I think expected it to be somewhat of a hit.

Part 2 I assumed they they did a small print run, but maybe they were still holding up hope...

At any rate, I proabbly came off a little harsh. I'm mostly reacting to all these people saying 'it'll be lining bargain bins in few months'. I really don't think it will be. Sega by now given up on this series.

i bet 100$$ that no designer has even walked by the guy who did the cover … its sooo bad i cant believe it. Its magic that they used 300dpi pictures and not 70 for it :lol :lol

My impression of sega as a company is seriously bad after all of this.

SEGA EU/US = useless shit. But i dont know if sega us/eu are to blame only, all of this might be sega jap decision. Wouldnt be the first time a japanese company shows this nosy e "fcuk foreigners that dont understand ouer precious culutre anyway" attitude.

other way arround, sega made hardcore fans give up on the series … and that is quiet a achievement

bought it last monday, game will prob bomb even harder than others because alot of people are down on missing hostessess and missions, whats funny is in half a year well see new threads asking why theres no yakuza 4 for the west :lol

the cut stuff sucks, but im sure ill still enjoy the game, on one hand i hope the backlash will wake up sega and theyll leave everything in 4!

So be it. Sega took a simple task and shit it all up. If you want to buy it, go for it. It's not going to stop people from calling Sega out on bullshit.

Are any of you guys actually playing this game or are you all still upset over the cut-content and $5 pre-order fiasco? :lol

Can someone please tell me how to catch a fucking Tuna fish? Please! I just need one fucking Tuna so I can continue with the story.

Honestly with all the content that has been cut, I for one will not be asking why there is no Yakuza 4 for the west. I'll be purchasing the Japanese version of 4 before I buy this butchered version of 3 this month.

from reading that wiki page it doesnt sound like that much has been cut? :S

a quiz about japanese history, some mah-jong minigames and you can date the girls but not in a hostess club? doesnt sound that bad to me unless you were really into the idea of the hostess stuff.

10 + side quests are removed from the game.

Strange it didn't arrive in the mail today. Must be a sign...

30 days to return this abomination that masquerades under the Yakuza 3 title. But thats not what this game is at all it has no relation to the real Yakuza 3 which I was hoping to purchase! With how short the game must be now surely someones past chapter 4? How many more missions is gone? Guess we'll find out more over the weekend!

I heard they cut the tuna out of the game ;_;

I was inspired to start Yakuza 2 last night after picking up number three. I played the first one roughly a year and a half ago.

So I start playing. I sit through the lengthy first game recap to refresh myself and then
shit goes down in the cemetery and I am tasked with finding Ms. Dojima's drunkard son. Upon finding him, Kazuma abruptly punches him right in the face
and I'm quickly reminded why I love this series.

On a spoilery side note:
Is Haruka's father identified by the end of the first game?

If you walk slow enough, Kiriyu automatically holds Haruka's hand.

That little girl is EVIL!

Level 25 of that shooter game? :|

LMAO I've spent like 2 hours trailing her around town just to get her friendship meter up or whatever it is :lol

There is just too much to do in Yakuza games as it is!

Granted some of those quests are related to the cut mini-game content, so it would make sense they would also be cut.

So I risked a look at the one and only english faq for this game and see theres supposed to be 123 missions right? -10 for hostesses and -9 others currently known? That leaves 104 but the tokyo one is a 3 parter, english 4 parts, and cupid 4 parts so takes us down to 99! Theres trophys for finishing 80 and finishing all of them so we can assume theres between 80 to 99 missions left in right?
