Yakuza 3 | Official Thre

Well I've hit the Yakuza 3 wall.

I was having such a great time playing this game until now: ENTER GOLF.

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!

This is by far the worst piece of shit, poor excuse of a mini-game I have ever fucking played! I've played NES golf game better than this, honest to god, NES games!

An hour and half + over 300,000Yen spent = one pissed of fellow. I swear to god but I want to break this fucking game right now. Once I beat it I need to find out who designed this gold abortion so I can send them a letter bomb. FUCK!

Be glad you have it! You could be struggling through the shitfests that are SHOGI AND MAHJONG! It is not like you have enough time to mess with mini games anyway, there is so much other content. Actually golf should have just been cut out. You are getting a fantastic deal!

edit: RobbieNick, am I doing it right?

No, but I've played Yakuza 2, so it's pretty obvious that some of my favorite parts are missing.

See, it would be almost be too much content, but where the Yakuza series shines is in the variety. When you get bored with one thing, you can go do something else... except they cut a bunch of the something elses. Now it will get monotonous faster, and it will seem more like there's "too much to do", as opposed to "so much to do".

Hmmmm... you might have a point there. I just haven't hit that wall myself. I played Bowling, Pool, Golf, fishing, karaoke, arcade games at club Sega in my first four hours. If some of those fun distractions are gone or there's less of them in the later levels, I may start to get bored.

:lol

It's not that I'm ungrateful it's just I wish this was cut.

Maybe I've been playing this game too long? Fucking 19 hours and I'm still... god damn you YAKUZA! (shakes fist)

Well I'm going to bed, I'm sure I'll get it on the first try in the morning:(

Mmmmm not bad! I don't like the cut of Mahjong myself. Shogi I can live without.:lol

One thing I can agree on. $60 is a bit much for an edited, subtitled game.

So I ended up paying full price for the game even though I told myself I wouldn't. I can't even play much of it until I finish FFXIII at which point this game will either be in bargain bins or vanished from shelves completely.

I know how you feel. The demo sold me, but the logical part of me is saying "Why did you buy it now?!! You know it'll be $20 or less in two months?!!"

In fact, this is what I wanna say about the game. I love it. I highly recommend it, but not at $60. When it gets down to $30 or less, definite must-buy.

so...
not only they cut all the extra content, but they really cut missions as well? :(
WTF, Sega, WTF!! I can't believe this would have cost all that much :( :( :(

It's the fact that Sega wasn't upfront with everything they removed that really bothers me.

They never mentioned all of this, and whatever else has been cut past chapter 5.
That's really dirty.

I keep reading rumors about a theme or intro song, called "Loser", being cut too. Is that true?

A lot of people were annoyed they never said that the latest round of Valkyria Chronicles DLC wasn't getting dubbed. It's one of those things that isn't a huge deal, but should've been mentioned ahead of time. But stuff like that has me really worried about Sega's localization team, they've got a bad thing going and it's starting to infect other games.

Still in Okinawa, chapter 4, like a lot of you. Is it ok to continue on with the main story or is it a once you progress you won't be able to return to Okinawa type deal? I'm having tons of fun playing the mini games, running into street punks and just walking around.

You'll eventually be able to go back and forth, but I don't remember if quests disappear at some point.

You can come back to Okinawa later.

Hey, at least they gave us free DLC, right? Right?......
.........

>_>..........Yea. I'll shut the fuck up now.

Why don't you just make the RGG4 thread? I don't have the energy to make all the banners and shit.

There's only one missable quest chain...and it was cut out of the US version. There are also no missable locker keys.

Oh lol. I was gonna look up a platinum trophy guide since I knew there was a missable quest line but I guess now I don't have to.

Good grief, Sega. :lol

Didnt being drunk prevent random encounters in the previous games? Or did it increase them? :D

Atleast there was a certain item that if worn there would be no random encounters at all...

Holy shit! More title cuts to coincide with content cuts? :lol

At this rate we'll be left with Yakuz 3

I was quite willing to shell out A$76 if it was just those 3 sidequests that got cut but now I'm not so sure anymore.

Hmm. That does sound like some rather unecessary cuts. Especially if they've done such a poor job with it that the game still references, by map or characters, to the hostess bars as places to visit.

Either way, I've finished the first Yakuza but never the second -- only played it for like 10 hours. How much will that affect this game in terms of plot?

Yakuza 3 arrived yesterday but I'm still doing the managing Marietta quest in Y2.

So glad this stuff has been cut in Y3. Not fun whatsoever.

Main storyline is what counts most and I'm enjoying it.

I look at it like GTA4, I finished the main story in that game but couldn't for the life of me be arsed getting 100%, same thing happened with Yakuza 1 and 2 (not that I didn't appreciate the content being there and I know some people are completionists, I will concede that).

Now I hope Sega don't do this again if Yakuza 3 sells decently, but I think under the circumstances this was genuinely a fan pressured release, I really don't think they were going to release it and with the translation coinciding with a budget being spent on Yakuza 4 I still think we're lucky to even see this on our shores.

I for one had given up any hope of seeing it after Yakuza 1/2 bombers and Sega saying no it's not coming, then saying they didn't say that, all the confusion and quite frankly IMO it was obvious it wasn't a 100% agreement in Sega offices, they compromised to take the chance, and therefore the game was pushed through by enough people to get it out.

All in my opinion of course, but it's the way I see it.

Okay, to people who have the game and are playing now. I know they cut out the managing part, but can you still go to hostess bars and select a hostess and talk to them, order drinks and food? Or are hostess bars completely removed from the game?

Completely agree, although I think this may be a British point of view. We're used to being treated badly by developers!

So wait there is even more content cut? At this pace this thread will have no title at all. :lol

SEGA is a bunch of dicks. Even when they admitted the cut content they were not honest. This is one of the worst localizations in years. They deserve every lost sale. And everyone who say "bu-bu-bu Yakuza4!": Who gives a fuck? If this is how SEGA wants to treat the series I'd rather not play it at all. If you enjoy taking it up the ass, by all means throw your money at them.

Sega can go fuck themselves. I'm not interested in this any more. If I get it it will be a promo/review copy or something like that, but no way is Sega getting my money. They are filthy, cheating lazy buggers.

Nah, if more people were to play the game rather than just bad mouth it/Sega they'd get totally immersed again in the world of Yakuza.

I couldn't put it down last night and I think I just hit chapter 4. Spent a lot of hours with the girl, then doing some stuff at the orphanage (even a bit of fishing :lol )

Just beat the guy
on top of the roof
.

I understand frustration towards cuts but I think a bandwagon is rolling around which some people are just jumping on without stepping back and looking at this a bit more logically. Kenzan wasn't translated, Yakuza 4 is in development right now, fan pressured release, the amount of content still in it, etc.

But opinions shall be opinions, I'll stop rambling on and just post my impressions of the game, so far, awesome, taken me away from FF13 completely. Kazuma is just such a bad ass, takes no shit :lol
