You thought Nintendo's Press Conference was bad...

Konami USA is run by some of the most incompetent people in the industry and deserve to have Rock Revolution completely bomb.

They seem to have a problem with distribution, something smaller companies like Majesco and Natsume use to stay in business despite not having the huge name recognition titles.

MGS: The Twin Snakes and Mario DDR on Gamecube saw spikes in availability but were never plentiful over long periods after their initial lauches. In probably half the US the only way to get a copy of Mario DDR was to pay $100+ on ebay (kind of like today), and there were never any budget releases of those titles to extend their shelf life.

Also, we are months away from a new Castlevania on DS and the only way to get a copy of Dawn of Sorrow is to pay $35 on konami.com?

No thanks, Konami, I hope your US arm falls into a fire fit so you have to start from scratch and hopefully will hire someone with a brain to run stuff over here.

...oh dear

I heard a lot about this, but never bothered to track down a video. Truly an embarrassing presentation for a mediocre game.

I was watching that presentation and that was right after she played in the really shit cover of the song........

Oh and I believe she said she was the project manager........... rofl.

I felt bad for her. :P

at least there's an underlying game that the portly woman is failing to play -- this is embarrassing, but it doesn't inspire horror as that wii music presentation did

Certainly rivals the Wii Music presentation in terms of fail.

I still think Capcom's was the worst and best conference at E3.
My man Ravi Drums came with the hot fire though! :lol

:D man that never gets old. But the drums in konami's game look like shit. I was not going to buy gh world tour but I saw a video on xbl showing the drums in detail and I started saving money for the awesomeness that are those drums. My RB drums seem obsolete now.

Well, Konami will still be able to get their dosh if/when they successfully sue Harmonix for damages.

Capcom's the best/worst conference of E3 by far...

Wow :lol

I know it doesn't really need to be said, but Rock Revolution is going to bomb hard. I really wish Konami would have put forth some more effort :(

Phew, good thing the Ravi Drums gif made it in.

Honestly, I feel bad for this chick.
This would never happen to the Wii Music PR during a demo. :lol

Wow, that's pretty dire. I turned off the conference after 30 seconds of their shitty cover band, so I didn't get to the video.

Nintendo's press conference wasn't bad at all. In fact I thought it was pretty good but it just wasn't for us, the gamers. That press conference was really for two people:

(1) The 3rd parties - they're so happy and going to have a field day with the motionplus.
(2) Casual and lite-gamers - they're going to abuse Wii Sport Resorts and anything else that will take advantage of the balance board and other accessories.

Regarding Rock Revolution, I agree, I think it was a disaster. Very ambitious, very embarassing. Maybe the Senior Product Manager made the fatal flaws of:

(1) Not thinking about whether the game could even stand up against Rock Band and Guiter Heroes from an aesthetical point of view
(2) How undermining it is to play with real instruments against the game controllers
(3) Ensuring that she could ace the game first before even attempting to play it on stage
(4) Allowing her passion for Rock overule her professional attitude
(5) Timing of when to show the game and jam with her band in consideration of the audience.
.... I could go on and on..

She is not entirely to blame though. The person who decided to put her up on stage should have checked to her presentation weeks before hand together with someone else who is not in the same department. Oh well.

i just watched the ending to the konami conference for the first time. :lol i've tried to watch it before but i kept shutting it off once they started playing music.

Epic fail. Someone at Konami should definitely lose their job over this.

Sorry sir but you're too extreme. If you had a business I'll never work for you.

I saw this before... and wow that was bad!

You have to feel sorry for the poor woman up on stage though, she knew she was making a right dog's dinner of the event at that point. Would it be fair to blame her or the game itself though?

In any case it's not too hyperbolic to say Rock Revolution was unveiled stillborn - what a way to kill a brand new game.

i wouldn't go that far. their target audience with this game would never watch a e3 conference and most don't even know what e3 is.

Yes I know, but it would also be going against some (initially) very negative press who all witnessed this atrocity in motion - magazines, newspapers and all that, and that stuff gets filtered through to the target audience easier than you think. All they could do is hope to God the marketing department pull their weight and advertise it like a mofo.

Honestly though, the fact that they have thrown out everything from there own game in order to try and copy Rock Band/Guitar Hero, makes me feel like the game deserves to fail....

I don't see a need for what is essentially an exact clone of them games. :-/ Atleast if they had decided to release DrumMania/GuitarFreaks there would be something to differentiate the games....... :-/

Or errmmmm something like this......... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=cT9cTPHzBVE

I think the biggest flaw of the entire presentation was how Konami (The girl represent Konami so I have to speak in regards to the company) didn't differentiate and highlighted what makes their game more appealing over Guitar Heroes and Rock Band. In my opinion, that was a massive overlooked flaw. It doesn't matter the fact that she failed the song or I didn't find her band appealing. In my mind, thanks to that presentation, this is just another music game that's out there in the market and since I have both of those top competitors, I see no reason why I should purchase this one.

Passion is extremely important but you have to be realistic - is your game good and what makes it great and better than others? THat should be anyone's number thoought before putting forward for any grand presentation.
