Young Justice Season 3 Officially In Development

Why was the art style changing even a thought. People keep saying they don't want it to be like TTG, but, this is a third season of YJ, not a new show.

I'd wager this will air on WB's new streaming service that was mentioned.

Would make sense, WB premiered the Arrowverse Vixen cartoon on the CW Seed.

Sorry for bumping this thread, but I want to discuss/speculate what might be in-store for Season 3 of the show.

  • The series has already brought in Intergang and some of the New Gods, so it was only a matter of time before Darkseid was brought into the fold. It wouldn't be too much of a shock that Season 3 will focus on him being the main antagonistic force, with Vandal Savage (possibly) acting as his right-hand man.
  • Greg and Brandon have already confirmed that the series’ writers had planned another time skip for season three, but didn't delve much beyond that. Now that Season 3 is confirmed, how long will the potential time skip be? I personally would like a shorter skip, like 6 months-1 year, as Darkseid isn't the type to rest on his laurels for conquest.
  • New/returning heroes? Starfire, Raven, & Cyborg have been heavily requested from fans to join in on the fun, but my pick would be Stephanie Brown/Katana to come under the tutelage of Nightwing. Given the diverse nature of Young Justice, having Captain Marvel Jr. to highlight a disabled character that can transform into a powerful hero would be a great inclusion, but Freddie could also serve as an interesting way to explore Captain Marvel’s backstory.
Yeah, I just want to talk about this show, as I had re-watched the two previous seasons to get myself prepared for Season 3.

Who are the new gods?

I think this will cover all of your answers, but those guys were created and designed by Jack "The King" Kirby back in the early 1970's. It's far to complicated for me to explain, but it's a very fascinating cornerstone of the DC Universe.

I remember hearing that the time skip would be about forty years into the future, so I think what we could see is a future timeline where Wally accidentally time jumped, and he has to become a better speedster to get back and save the Team.

the show is also giving Savage really great screentime and respect

More Shazam/Marvel is always welcome. And a little OT, but I loved the JL Vandal Savage episode, "Hereafter", even if it is a very different side of Savage than we're used to seeing. I honestly wish YJ could tilt a little more towards that kind of anthology, character-driven approach instead of playing up the main plot (although YJ does have a fair amount of the former, particularly in season 1).

Pleaaaaaaaaaaaaase don't rush the plot this time :(

My only complaints for young justice were:

1. Last episode of Season 1. They could have stretched the battles out wayyy longer. Everything tied together too easily (and the battles against the league were too short imo) over several episodes, or even make that the start of Season 2

2. Season 2's ambush of every badguy was too "packed" as well, although I understand it was because they were informed there was not going to be a season 3 at that time.

I'm hoping they aren't tied to toy sales anymore so they can continue having seasons...

That sounds usual.

I have a feeling the first episode will continue where it left off. Aqualad was giving the team three missions to do at the end of the finale. The only one I remember is needing to show proof that The Reach drink is back on the market under a different name.

Plans might have changed since cancellation but the original S3 plan was another time skip.

Which makes the most sense I think. There are quite a few status quo changes at the end and I think it would be quite messy to try to deal with most of them in real time. Especially after the audience has been gone for so long.

If this is going to be on Netflix, season 2 is right there for them, but what you mean by real time?

This is awesome news. This is all but a confirmation that Wally will be back in some form at least right? The idea that they could be adapting the most recent Titans arc is super exciting. Have they confirmed that this is going to air on Netflix, or is that still just an assumption?

Down as hell for a reverse Bart arc for Wally.

They've said way back when that they've considered doing a flashback arc, this could be for that

I'd like that. One of the few gripes I had with Season 2 of Young Justice was how far it jumped from Season 1. So many new characters and dynamics was jarring for me. Be nice to go back to the good old days.

So Wally is not dead? That seems like a very odd way to confirm it.

The way that Wally died made me think he was going to return, probably as the fastest Flash as I think he is/was in the comics; and he was the slowest in the show. It also seemed like they may have been setting up an Impulse/Tigris thing.

Wally has to come back because the Wally/Artemis pairing was the GOAT pairing and I refuse to be sad about that S2 finale forever.

Yeah, that's what I figured as well (him coming back, not the Impulse/Tigress relationship thing). The one thing I wasn't sure about was Greg was pretty adamant speed force didn't exist in this universe. I can't see how Wally can come back without speed force shenanigans. We'll see though.

You're not wrong. Wally/Artemis was great, shame they didn't get more screen time.

I want an original Hawk sidekick character to be introduced into the fray (Kendra Saunders Hawkgirl based off the Earth 2 character pls), if only for the Hawks to get some more substantial speaking parts.

#teamHawks

Only thing I need is nightwing to be a main character again and not doing cameos.

One of my biggest problems with S2 was they got freaking Nightwing in there
and he hardly gets screentime despite being the leader.

I saw a few places suggest Raven for S3 to put a new magic person on the team.
Also a Green Lantern apprentice but I don't like that idea really.

Does Green Lantern even have a character that would fit in the show. I know it kind of dropped the sidekick theme in S2, but they were still mostly young heroes. None of the earth lanterns would really fit without drastically changing them. Kyle could maybe be aged down but his origin has a lot of baggage.

Have the green lanterns or at least the earth ones be stuck in a another universe or dimension with Kyle to replace them.

The person that suggested it said Kyle.
No thanks imo.

... Like romantically? He's a minor

Glad I'm not the only one who felt this way especially since he matured into a better (less annoying) character as Nightwing. I swear Dick Grayson keeps getting shafted in appearances outside comics. Would have preferred less screentime in S1 as Robin and traded it for more appearances in S2 as Nightwing.

Im glad YJ is returning because

Is making me crave it so badly.

I actually started rewatching YJ since that trailer released.
Honestly a live action TT or YJ movie would probably be more exciting than anything they have coming up.

Jessica Cruz would be a much better fit as a young lantern. Or better yet, Power Ring.

Or Jade. Because then you don't have to address why an intergalactic police agency is recruiting minors. Also, her powers being from a different source means she can be nerfed down to a level appropriate for the Team.

Thats a better idea.

That's why I think DC is stupid since marvel doesn't really have a team teen up movie DC could had done it first. Like make them more less serious let Justice league be more serious. It could had worked out if they done it right instead of rush shit oh well.
Back when the Miller Justice League fell apart Teen Titans would have been a perfect direction to go, especially because it can be disconnected from all the Leaguers.
Honestly they could make a standalone now and it would be successful if they went hard on 80's and '03 series.

Just got to the end of Season 2 on Netflix. I enjoyed this series waaay more than I was expecting. I'm not sure why a Season 3 wasn't guaranteed to begin with.

That is why I suggested Power Ring. Power Ring Jessica Cruz has nothing to do with the Lanterns, is magical in nature, and has a dynamic similar to Blue Beetle (so he would make a good mentor).

Jade obvious works too, but Jessica is an active character who could use a push. The idea behind her character is really cool.

initial toys were released before the show came out,
1st episode premiered around Thanksgiving(2010).

Show actually started late January.
Wally was the only figure on the shelves from fall 2010 until nearly Summer 2011

merchandise actually started to flow in...
Show went on break from March till September,
Mattel refreshed Wally and Robins again so they clogged the pegs till the end of season 1 when Mattel killed the line(early 2012).

2. The main toyline was directed at the nearly dead 4" JLU line collectors.
The decent deluxe figures
young_justice_6_inch_set.jpg

were directed at the dying 6" DCUC line which collectors bitched and moaned about animated styles being wastes and not buying.

Finally Mattel had a 3rd scale of DC figures in 3.75 with basically the same characters.

Half the characters weren't released in each scale after over a year.
S2 characters never got figures despite them even showing off a Batgirl & Batman pack before S2 released.

They were even going to do Miss Martian and Superboy's 6" much later as prorder only figures but cancelled them as well(all before S2 ended)
