Youngest convicted murderer in the US is getting released

Wasn't there two white kids that killed or attempted to kill their parents like 20 years ago? What were their ages and charges and punishment?

Hope these two can come out and start relatively normal lives. Do they even know each other anymore?
The Menendez brothers? They were older and got life without parole

Sure seems like it...why does it even exist?

Either your a child or you're an adult - why is there even the ability to put a child on trial as an adult?
On the flip side, if the ability didn't exist 16 and 17 year olds could do horrible things knowing they would not be sent to jail for life.

Yeah gangs were abusing this fact, having the juveniles be the trigger pullers because they would get a much lighter sentence. Something had to be done, but it should be on a case to case basis.

These two will be paying for this crime for life. Murder conviction along with a parole life sentence means their ability to actually become successful in life is almost nonexistent.

So everyone's already setting the kid up for failure? Cause you all know the rehabilitation and programs this kid went through in prison.

I say he deserves a fair chance, and he'll probably assimilate fine too

I have a hard time imagining a rehabilitation plan that can properly walk a kid through his formative years while in prison, specially in the US.

Did the kids even finish school?

Yeah, I was thinking about that, so I get it and that makes sense. However, considering the circumstances here, why was it applied?

Anyone got a link to this one?

Wiki:

Jody Plauche, was taking karate lessons. Jody's karate instructor, 25-year-old Jeffrey Doucet, had been sexually abusing Jody for at least a year. In February 1984, Doucet kidnapped Jody and took him to a motel in California where he sexually assaulted and molested Jody. Police searched the country for Jody and he was eventually found after Doucet made a phone call to his mother from the motel. California police raided the motel and made the arrest without incident.[2]

On March 1, 1984, Jody was returned to his family in Louisiana, but Gary, who was 38 at the time, was coping with reports that Doucet had sexually assaulted his son.

I'm just completely numb right now reading this story, lifetime parole, protecting the name of a convicted child molester, charging 12 and 13 year olds as adults.

Before leaving the courthouse, Curtis turned to his attorney, Cocoa Beach's Tony Hernandez, and asked if he could bring his Nintendo video game with him to prison.

This is how long that kid has been in prison: Nintendo was popular when he began serving time.

Jesus. I feel bad for those kids. If I was in that situation, I would have felt simmilarly, that killing my parents was the only option. Child Protective Services fails too many times in this country, and that's a really sad fact. Those children should have been sent to rehabilitation, not jail.

Plauche was initially charged with second-degree murder but agreed to a plea bargain in which he pleaded no contest to manslaughter. He was sentenced to five years probation and 300 hours of community service, which he completed in 1989.
That's quite a lenient sentence, but not quite what was advertised. Though I guess by taking a plea bargin, he wasn't convicted by a jury so that's technically correct.

Yeah, you don't need even have to go to the point where the USA is jailing children. The story is already fucked up way before that. Nothing was done right, nothing!

He's been in prison since he started puberty.

Think about that. He started and went through puberty behind bars. What the fuck is wrong with this country?

This isn't revenge. It'd be revenge if they got abused, were saved, and went back to give them some payback. They got abused, they kept getting abuse, virtually every avenue they could take had been exhausted to no avail. It was self-defense.

Agree with this.

Holy shit it's horrific what happened to them. Fuck society failed them in so many different ways :(
