Your biggest gaming accomplishments of 2016

Become the Master trophy for Titanfall2.

Initially couldn't get it and I thought my age is finally showing. 4 hrs later I got it before rage quiting. So satisfied.

Without a doubt it was netting the Platinum Trophy in Overwatch. As part of the tiny 0.1% of ppl who have it, I'd say it's an accomplishment.

Probably getting the Plat in GTA San Andreas too.

This year has been sort of weird for gaming for me. As such my list isn't particularly impressive but three come to mind.

Getting Platinum on Dark Souls III, my second Plat ever (first being Bloodborne).

Finally sacking up to play and beat Alien: Isolation, on the hardest difficulty no less.

And lastly, finishing The Last Guardian and getting the trophy related to (minor trophy spoiler)
taking care of Truck's spear wounds as quickly as possible.

So nothing very exciting, just stuff I'm glad or happy to have done this year.

I was able to take a break from Diablo 3 and finished a few games from my backlog. D3 has been my addiction since late 2014, being a try hard and always having a place in the top 1000 of the solo greater rift season leaderboards. (Seasons 1,2,3, & 5)

This year, I was able to take a break and beat about 20 games from my PS3 and Steam backlog. Feels good.

Reaching a level where I can comfortably beat tier 2 pro dps in Overwatch, even few tier 1 ones, not unusual to meet pro players in GM matchmaking solo/group queueing and it's exhilarating.

Having a phobia of snakes and making it through Bloodborne's Forbidden Woods without dropping the game.

NG+? That's a whole different story.

Mine is undoubtedly completing The Witcher 3! I've been a bit of an on-off gamer for the past few years so I always feel a good sense of accomplishment in completing a long single player game. I had plenty of opportunities where I thought of quitting but I'm glad I didn't. I enjoyed the story a lot. Most of my other gaming time through the year by comparison came with 20 minute stints on Driveclub, Street Fighter 5, Resogun, Pac Man championship edition etc.

Platforming Dungeon on ffxv.
Never again.

Yeah this. One of the most difficult things I've ever had to do in a game. Hated every second of it. Glad I'll never have to set foot in the place again.

On the other hand I could see a really great game being made out of this kind of experience. Dark Souls meets Super Mario sort of vibes ain't a bad thing.

I had to explain to the dev of 10 Second Ninja how I beat a level so quickly because he didn't understand how the time I got was possible, because I'm too much of a ninja.

Did you do it in 9 seconds? ;)

My biggest accomplishment recently that comes to mind is:

I beat Max Payne 3. On Hard. No auto Aim. With a controller. :S

was the most ridiculous thing I've ever played, certain parts seemed impossible.

But somehow I persevered and I made it!

Beat Majora's Mask 3D with no guide.

2nd play through 100% Majora's Madk with help from guides.

Beat a few bosses in Bloodborbe. Never had played a souls type of game

Oddly enough finding my new way of powering through my backlog. I wrote down every game I own physical and digital and cut them and put them in a big ass zip lock freezer bag...I pick one and that game is the only game I will play until finished. (Exceptions are what I call side games: Sports/CoD I will play a game or a few matches and that is it) It has helped me focus and get through games much faster than previously. If I buy a new game it just goes in the bag and will get to it when it's pulled.

Hmm... I don't keep track of my gaming activities like I do with movies, so year-end lists are tough for me. I honestly don't remember what games I was playing in January. I think that's when I played Might & Magic 6,but that might have been late last year...

I do know that I built my first gaming PC. That seems likely to be the nicest gaming-related thing I did for myself this year.

STREET FIGHTER V
Managed to learn how to watch and play Street Fighter, after being fascinated but intimidated before. Plus and minus frames, what beats strategies, character roles and playstyles etc. Before this I have never played a classic fighting game. I am not and never will be great, but the appreciation I have gotten from playing a bit is huge.

SUPER SMASH BROS. FOR WII U
I love Smash, and I watch tournaments a lot. But there is no scene I can go ti in my area because of reasons. But I managed to drag myself to one international tournament, and I did much better than I thought I would, being one stock away from making it out of pools against seasoned players.

SUPER SMASH BROS. MELEE
As I said, I love Smash but Melee I had not played for over ten years. All the techniques frightened me, but I absolutely loved to watch high level matches. After the tournament mentioned above I decided to try Melee again. I can actually move freely around stages and L-cancel with some consistency, which is a big milestone in a game this technical.

THE WITNESS
I managed to beat it myself, and stayed spoiler-free to the end (I did use a guide in two areas because the fucking
sound
puzzles were weird as hell to me).. I am not generally good with puzzle games but I loved this one.

Nothing spectacular, but I was happy about these, especially the top two:

Completed the Challenge in The Witness
Bloodborne Platinum & all Old Hunters trophies
Completed Demon's Souls and Dark Souls
100% Yoshi's Woolly World
100% Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Ratchet & Clank Platinum

Also made my way through The Witcher 3, Hearts of Stone (amazing), and Final Fantasy XV, the last of which I thought I was going to thoroughly hate, but ended up really taking a liking to. It's my favorite FF since FF10.

Beat FTL on Normal.
Beat The Challenge in The Witness.
Beat Braid.
Some crazy Gold/Green medals in Trackmania Turbo.
Arkham Knight Full Ending.
Beat more puzzles in TIS-100.

Modding the shit out of skyrim

it runs great and looks amazing 700 plugins , merges you name it.

Modding has become a hobby itself

Beating Bloodborne+dlc

Not really an accomlishment by itself, but I finished 52 games for the 3rd year in a row, down last year from 74 games finished although this was also 1 part of a challenge to watch 12 TV seasons, read 24 books, beat 52 games, and watch 100 movies which I finished last week.

Zombie Platinum Trophy. Not a 2016 game but it was perfect to get into the mood for TWD Season 7. Took me like 20 runs on Hardcore tho. Even deleted it once in rage because I died super close at the end. But gave it another try and finally finished it and bam Platinum bitches!! Good game :)

Completed The Witness without any help but my notepad.
This for sure. In fact got everything so quickly that when I was looking for the very last audio log I eventually gave up and tried to find help online. Turned out no one anywhere had posted the location yet! So I went back in and eventually found it. (I'm not saying I was the first in the world to do it, some people likely did it but never posted about it)

Where's our final meta-ending Jon?

Platinum trophy in Bloodborne. Played through Dark Souls 1 and 3 within a few months. Managed to not give up completing Mafia 3 - the most boring game of the year.

I bought a vita. That should lead to some good gaming accomplishments in 2017, hopefully finally playing through and completing P4 Golden.

I completed SOMA. I consider it an accomplishment because it was very tense to play through, so I had to push myself to the end. Glad I did, was an excellent game.

Resisted getting involved in my wife's Stardew Valley addiction, which likely would have claimed my soul as well. That was an accomplishment in terms of personal gaming self-restraint, which I think qualifies as a "gaming accomplishment" for me. Sometimes its not about what you choose to do, but what you chose not to do and why :-)

I finally got the push to learn how to play Frank West properly in UMVC3 thanks to the PS4 re-release and I'm loving it so far. Dude is so much fun. Close to a living Alolan Dex too, but that's been temporarily sidelined in favour of Frank tech.

1. Beat Street Fighter V Survival mode on easy and normal with every character in the game. Cleared Survival Hard with Cammy, Ken, & Ryu. Cleared Survival Extreme/Hell with Ken & Ryu. Never cheated.
2. Should hit 100 hours in SFV by the end of the year.
3. Hit 1,300 PSN trophies.
4. Hit 120 hours in BF4.

I platinumed Bloodborne

Fucking Defiled Amygdala kept me from doing this for an entire year. I had to have attempted that thing 50+ times. Easily the most attempts ever for me in a single section of a game.

I still think she's the hardest boss in any of the souls games...

1) Bought a PSVR shortly after launch. Missed the launch bundle but got a comparable bundle through Best Buy with a ton of games. Best move I made in 2016.

2) Regenerated 3 times in Titanfall 2. What a blast of a game!

3) Sold a bunch of NES and SNES that have increased in value that I never play anymore thanks to my sweet Raspberry Pi 3 setup. Used to fund item number 1.

4) Built the Raspberry Pi with Retropie.

Can't think of anything in particular. I did platinum mgsv but that didn't seem that hard. I almost got 100% in xenoblade x as I did absolutely everything except complete the bestiary since I missed the enemy that you only get 1 chance at.

Which enemy is this, again? I'm on the long-road to Xenoblade Chronicles X completion and I'm pretty sure I know what this is. Is it something that's part of the final battle?

I convinced all my friends who are super casual gamers to buy Overwatch. And they love it.

It's like watching your child take it's first steps.

For reference, in order to even get to this area you need to specifically search it out looking for a challenge, so most people never even see it. Out of those who do, most are probably unable to beat it out because of how difficult it is (took me 5-6 hours on my first time). After you do beat it, the game gives you a timed mode which takes away your two most powerful tools: the life pot, which is a single use full-HP heal, and the missile launcher, which lets you pretty much nuke the boss and kill it quickly. And then it asks you to beat it under 3 minutes. On average, doing this the normal way took me around 10 minutes. To get under 3 minutes requires near absolute perfection. It's fucking insanity.

Also, completed a no heal/stick/bandage run of Undertale, both Pacifist and Genocide.

For me it was picking up my three year old Dark Souls save where I had stalled at Darkroot Garden/Depths, and going on to finish the game.

I'm a pretty jaded gamer these days, but it justified all of the praise and then some for me. A true fusion of art and design I've rarely seen in the medium. As memorable and beautiful a gaming experience I've ever had.

I wish I could go back to the discovery and naivety of a first playthrough.

Second was working my way up from Bray Wanderers in FIFA 16 Manager Mode to become Liverpool manager and Champions League finalist.
